Anne Hathaway has claimed she was disappointed to be told by her doctor that she was not allowed to be interviewed on Hot Ones as part of her current press tour.

The Oscar winner is currently on the promo trail for her new film Verity, in which she plays a famous author who, at one point, appears as a guest on the First We Feast interview series.

However, while her on-screen counterpart got to appear alongside host Sean Evans to put herself through a spicy wings challenge (on which her on-screen son Tom Holland recently made history as the first guest to vomit on the show), Anne was later told she was not allowed to do the same, due to her pregnancy.

“I thought that I was gonna be able to do the Hot Ones challenge to do press for this film because it just made sense,” the Devil Wears Prada star told the podcast Talk Of The Townsends.

“But then I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labour. So, I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet.”

She added: “I’m not sure when that’s gonna happen. Maybe next year.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Anne opened up about the Hot Ones sequence in her new film, claiming that she “did the first three wings for real”, before switching “to dummy wings”. She also revealed that Verity appearing Hot Ones had been her own idea.

It’s been an exciting 2026 for Anne, who has appeared in no fewer than five new films, of which Verity is the last to hit cinemas.

She has also found herself at the centre of Oscar buzz for her performance as Penelope in The Odyssey, 13 years on from her first win for Les Misérables.

Outside of work, Anne announced in June that she and her husband, businessman Adam Shulman, are expecting their third child.

Anne and Adam are already parents to two sons, Jonathan and Jack, born in March 2016 and November 2019.
