Why 2 Of Trump’s Claims About Israel-Gaza War Have Been Torn Apart

Donald Trump made two major claims about the Israel–Gaza conflict in a press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday – but do they stand up to scrutiny?

The US president hosted the Israeli prime minister in Florida on Monday as American officials try to push both Israel and Hamas into the second phase of its Gaza peace plan.

The strategy, adopted in October, is now meant to turn the delicate ceasefire established in the first stage, into a sustainable settlement.

While supposedly encouraging Netanyahu to pull his troops back from Gaza, Trump also claimed there “will be hell to pay” for the Palestinian militants unless they full disarm – and soon.

The president also talked up the impact he’s had on the war and outlined a rough timeline – two claims which have been efficiently taken apart in the last day…

1. The Real Impact Of The Biden Administration

The US president claimed “just about” every Hamas hostage was released by his White House team – but that’s not true.

Trump told the press: “Every hostage just about that has been released was released because of me, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner – my whole team – Pete Hegseth – they were all released because of us.

“None were released because of the Biden administration. None. Then, we had a lack of releases with respect to the dead, and all of sudden they start coming. back.”

Joe Biden’s administration actually pushed Hamas to release 138 hostages via a series of deals.

Hamas also released many individuals sporadically during the first 10 months of the year, before Trump’s ceasefire deal came into place.

It has freed 20 living hostages and returned the bodies of 27 dead hostages since the US agreement was introduced in October.

Out of the 251 people taken captive on Israeli soil back on October 7, 2023, only the body of one – 24-year-old Ran Gvili who was killed during the Hamas attack – is yet to be sent home to his relatives.

Returning the remains of every hostage is a key part of the ceasefire deal.

2. When Phase 2 Of The Gaza Peace Plan Could Really Start

Trump repeatedly insisted that Hamas and Israel need to move to the second phase “as quickly as we can” on Monday.

Speaking about Hamas, he said: “If they don’t disarm as they agreed to do, they agreed to it, and then there will be hell to pay for them. They have to disarm in a fairly short period of time.”

He also claimed the reconstruction of Gaza could “begin pretty soon”, although stopped short of offering a clear timeline.

But former UK National Security Adviser, Lord Ricketts, told the BBC that phase two of this plan is “nowhere near ready to being implemented”.

He warned the disarming of Hamas is just one part of the 20-point peace plan.

Other elements include the establishment of a Palestinian technocratic committee meant to run Gaza, an international stabilisation border force and a Trump-chaired Board of Peace.

“None of that seems to me to be at all ready,” Ricketts said.

“Hamas are not just going to disarm like that. The whole point of the 20-point plan is that Hamas would disarm gradually, with international monitoring, as an international force took over.

“For all Donald Trump’s optimism, I don’t think any of that is in place. The Arab nations are not queuing up to put their troops into Gaza, no one wants to be seen to be disarming Hamas at the say-so of the Israelis.

“Behind this performative friendship [between Trump and Netanyahu], not much has happened on stabilising the Gaza peace plan.”

He added that the Israelis “absolutely” don’t want to withdraw in the meantime, and so they are in a “kind of circular problem here”.

BBC Expert Says The Israel-Palestine Conflict ‘Will Continue’ Despite Trump’s Peace Plan

The conflict between Israel and Palestine “will continue” despite Donald Trump’s peace plan, a BBC expert has said.

Jeremy Bowen said the US president had “scored a diplomatic triumph” in securing a ceasefire and the imminent release of the remaining Israeli hostages still held in Gaza.

As part of the deal, Israeli troops have withdrawn from Gaza and around 250 Palestinian prisoners, as well as 1,700 other Gazan detainees, will also be freed.

Keir Starmer will join world leaders, including Donald Trump, at a peace summit in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt on Monday.

But speaking on BBC1′s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, Bowen insisted there were numerous hurdles still to be cleared before a long-term peace is in place.

He said: “The ceasefire at the moment seems pretty OK, not least because the Americans are pushing the Israelis very strongly not to break it.

“However, in terms of governance of Gaza, security in Gaza for the Palestinians and for the Israelis over the border, for the future economy of the territory, and also the idea of having a multi-national force in place, none of these things, the really difficult stuff, has been agreed.

“The Trump 20-point plan points to where they want it to go and what the objective is. How you get there hasn’t been worked out and that’s where the real problems, I think, are going to start.

“When there are problems in that process, that will impact on the stability ultimately of the ceasefire.”

He added: “Today and tomorrow are days for everybody to celebrate and it’s absolutely right to say that Donald Trump has scored a diplomatic triumph in making this happen so quickly.

“But underlying everything that’s happening is this conflict between Israelis and Palestinians for control of the land between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea that started more than a century ago.

“It’s complicated, it’s multi-faceted, it’s multi-layered, and it’s generational. And until the fundamentals of that are sorted out and settled in a way that both sides can accept, sadly I’m absolutely certain that the conflict will continue.”

Labour MP Chokes Back Tears As He Begs Starmer And Lammy To Help Gaza

A Labour MP choked back tears as he begged his own government to do more to help end the suffering of the people of Gaza.

Barry Gardiner said Keir Starmer and David Lammy “see the same images that you and I see” when they see footage of the effects of Israel’ continuing bombardment of the territory.

He said he “cannot understand” why they refuse to go further to help find peace.

The former minister hit out at the prime minister and foreign secretary as Donald Trump unveiled his plan to end the bloody conflict.

A clearly-emotional Gardiner, the MP for Brent West, told Channel 4 News: “They go on their phones, they see the same images that you and I see, and they see those children.

“I cannot understand how you can be a foreign secretary, a prime minister, and think that you don’t take the strongest possible stand against this.”

Starmer’s government has taken the historic step of formally recognising a Palestinian state, and has cancelled some weapons licences with Israel.

However, critics have accused the prime minister of not doing enough to stand up to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Starmer has welcomed Trump’s peace plan, which could see former Labour PM Tony Blair handed a key role in helping to run a post-conflict Gaza.

The prime minister said: “We strongly support his efforts to end the fighting, release the hostages and ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza. This is our top priority and should happen immediately.

“We call on all sides to come together and to work with the US Administration to finalise this agreement and bring it into reality.”

Donald Trump has unveiled a new plan for ending the war in Gaza – and former UK prime minister Tony Blair is lined up to play a key part.

While the US president claims his idea could bring “eternal peace in the Middle East” and the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu backs the proposal, Hamas is still ruminating over it.

However, if the Palestinian militants do not agree, Trump has claimed that the Israelis would have “our full backing to do what you would have to do” – and take its attacks on Gaza even further.

So what’s in the deal – and why is Blair involved?

What is the new plan?

The 20-point proposal is essentially a set of “principles” laying out the foundations for further negotiations.

It calls for a stop to the fighting and a restricted withdrawal of Israeli forces.

Hamas would also have to release all remaining hostages, and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel would be freed.

A local technocratic administration would run the day-to-day services of Gaza, and it would be overseen by a Trump-chaired ‘Board of Peace’ based in Egypt – which Blair would be part of.

The US and Arab countries would set up a “stabilisation” force to take over security and ensure the demilitarise Palestinian armed factions.

Any Hamas members who “commit to peaceful co-existence” and decommission their weapons would be granted amnesty – or face exile.

No one else will be forced to leave Gaza.

Palestinian statehood gets a brief mention, but there’s no commitment to the idea and the plan says it may only be possible if the governing body in the West Bank, the Palestinian Authority, is reformed.

The plan also said “Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza”, but no such promise is made for the West Bank which remains occupied.

The scheme aligns with Israel’s plans for the territory – the disarmament of Hamas, the demilitarisation of Gaza and, crucially, no firm establishment of a Palestinian state.

What are the issues with it?

Despite Trump’s big claims and push for an “all in one” agreement, this is far from a ready-to-go peace deal.

Trump and Netanyahu did not even take questions at their press conference, demonstrating how it is truly not a fleshed out plan.

Hamas has not been given any deadline to agree to the offer, but are likely to take issue that the deal does still not have self-determination for Palestinians, or enough protection for them.

More clarity is needed for Israeli withdrawal lines, how the remaining Hamas hostages would be released, which Palestinian prisoners would be freed and how Gaza would be run in the aftermath of the destructive war.

It does signal a large shift in the White House’s thinking. Trump previously supported the idea of forcibly removing Palestinians from Gaza and turning it into “Gaza Riviera”.

But previous peace efforts have fallen apart, with Netanyahu regularly pulling out of deals amid domestic pressures.

And that’s all before even looking at the backlash caused by Blair’s involvement.

What about Tony Blair?

The former prime minister has welcomed the new scheme, calling it “bold and intelligent”, adding: “It offers us the best chance of ending two years of war, misery, and suffering and I thank President Trump for his leadership, determination and commitment.”

But the former PM’s involvement is a notable cause for surprise – and alarm in some circles – considering he took Britain into the US’s war in Iraq back in 2003, wrongly claiming Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

While he has years of experience in dealing with the Middle East, he was also the only other person Trump named when unveiling his new plan.

Even health secretary Wes Streeting admitted that Blair’s role will “raise eyebrows”, although prime minister Keir Starmer has publicly welcomed the plan.

Behind the scenes though, his cabinet is allegedly divided over Blair’s potential role – and fear it could damage Starmer if it goes wrong.

Several backbenchers are also criticising it.

Labour MP Sarah Champion told Bloomberg: “Tony Blair has history in the Middle East and that means he does not come to the table in a neutral role, but with baggage. It should be up to the Palestinian people to decide if that makes him a good or bad advocate.”

Suspended Labour MP Diane Abbott also slammed the plan on X, saying: “Because the peace plan is supported by Trump and Netanyahu, plus the Western governments who have armed Israel, plus Blair and the Arab dictatorships does not mean it is a good deal, or that it has worldwide support. Quite the opposite.”

Even outside of the Labour Party, there’s plenty of unhappiness at the prospect of Blair being at the centre of a new plan.

The UN Special Rapporteur of occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albannese, wrote on X: “Tony Blair? Hell no. Hands off Palestine. Shall we meet in The Hague perhaps?”

Many commentators waded into the debate on X, too – including former Labour leader, independent MP Jeremy Corbyn.

He wrote: “Tony Blair’s catastrophic decision to invade Iraq cost thousands upon thousands of lives. He shouldn’t be anywhere near the Middle East, let alone Gaza. It is not up to Blair, Trump or Netanyahu to decide the future of Gaza. That is up to the people of Palestine.”

A US Ambassador Ranted About The UK After It Criticised Israel. This Labour MP Had Just 1 Thing To Say.

A Labour MP tore into Donald Trump’s ambassador to Israel this morning after he criticised the UK.

Mike Huckabee slammed Britain and prime minister Keir Starmer on X after the UK condemned Israel’s plan to expand its military operation in Gaza, despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis there.

Starmer joined many European allies in warning Israel that occupying Gaza City, the largest city in the Palestinian territory, would only cause further “bloodshed”, almost two years after Israel first declared war on Hamas.

In a statement on Friday, the prime minister said: “Wwe urge it to reconsider immediately. Every day the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens and hostages taken by Hamas are being held in appalling and inhuman conditions. We need a ceasefire now.”

But Huckabee replied by bizarrely talking about World War 2.

He wrote on X: “So Israel is expected to surrender to Hamas & feed them even though Israeli hostages are being starved?

“Did UK surrender to Nazis and drop food to them? Ever heard of Dresden, PM Starmer?

“That wasn’t food you dropped. If you had been PM then UK would be speaking German!”

In a second post, he added: “How much food has Starmer and the UK sent to Gaza? @IsraeliPM has already sent 2 MILLION TONS into Gaza & none of it even getting to hostages. Maybe UK PM ought to sit this one out & follow Arab League who said Hamas should disarm & release ALL hostages immediately.”

Huckabee’s analogy compares the current war in Gaza to the joint British and American decision to bomb the German city of Dresden in February 1945.

It was one of the most controversial moments from World War 2 because many argue the attack, which killed around 25,000 people was unnecessary and cruel – especially as it occurred just months before the conflict ended.

Meanwhile, Israel is coming under intense scrutiny for its war in Gaza where at least 60,000 Gazans have been killed, and Israel’s aid blockade is causing mass starvation.

So Emily Thornberry, the chair of the UK’s Foreign Affairs Committee and a former member of Starmer’s shadow cabinet, offered a no-nonsense response to Huckabee on X.

She wrote: “This Ambassador is clearly an idiot.”

Trump has tried to end the war in Gaza but has refused to commit to recognising a Palestinian state, unlike the UK, France and Canada.

Just days after he acknowledged that people are starving in the territory, the US president said it was Israel’s choice to expand its military offensive.

Trump told reporters: “That’s going to be pretty much up to Israel.”

Medical Experts Have A Grim New Term For Targeted Attacks On Healthcare In War

Medical experts have come up with a new term to describe deliberate, systematic attacks on health services as acts of war: healthocide.

Medical practitioners have called for their fellow medics within the international community to call out this weaponisation of health and healthcare, which they believe undermines international humanitarian law.

And silence could suggest complicity, Dr Joelle Abi-Rached and colleagues of the American University of Beirut, Lebanon warned in the open access journal BMJ Global Health.

The authors pointed to the suffering seen in Gaza and Lebanon right now as examples of healthocide.

They pointed out that since Israel began its military offensive in Gaza on October 8, 2023 – following the Hamas attack the day before – an estimated 217 health workers have been killed by the Israeli Defence Forces.

Amid 68 attacks on hospitals, 177 ambulances were damaged and 237 attacks on emergency medical services took place, according to data from Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.

A further 986 medical workers have died since the war began.

The authors noted: “Both in Gaza and Lebanon, healthcare facilities have not only been directly targeted, but access to care has also been obstructed, including incidents where ambulances have been prevented from reaching the injured, or deliberately attacked.

“What is becoming clear is that healthcare workers and facilities are no longer afforded the protection guaranteed by international humanitarian law.”

They called for doctors to speak out, warning: “Medical neutrality is not ‘apolitical’; for us it means standing with humanity, social justice, and health-enabling policies.”

The experts also said attacks on healthcare providers have become normalised in recent years – but the ongoing conflicts have seen such strikes evolve into “the deliberate killing and/or destruction of health services and systems for ideological purposes.”

They also suggested healthocide could be taking place in El Salvador, Ukraine, Sudan and Syria.

Fears that not speaking out about wars, like that seen in Gaza, is akin to complicity have been rising lately.

Earlier this month, Tory MP Kit Malthouse warned that foreign secretary David Lammy could “end up at The Hague because of his inaction” over the war.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza, an estimated 180 people have died so far from famine and malnutrition, including 93 children.

A total of 60,933 people in Gaza have been killed since the war began.

Back in April, Israel denied deliberately targeting a Palestinian hospital, suggesting it was targeting a “command and control centre used by Hamas” instead.

Kemi Badenoch Says She Believes Israel Is Allowing Humanitarian Aid Into Gaza

Kemi Badenoch has insisted she believes Israel is still getting humanitarian aid into Gaza despite growing fears of famine.

The Tory leader’s remarks come amid growing concerns that people in the Palestinian territory are facing mass starvation due Israel’s blockade of relief.

More than 100 non-governmental organisations issued a statement this week saying the “Israeli government’s siege starves the people of Gaza, aid workers are now joining the same food lines, risking being shot just to feed their families”.

Israel did announce over the weekend that it would allow airdrops of relief into the Palestinian territory, and promised it would implement a “tactical pause” in its military operation in three parts of Gaza to help ease the humanitarian crisis.

But speaking to Sky News this morning, the Tory leader suggested her support for Israel had not wavered despite the international community’s fears.

Presenter Trevor Phillips asked for Badenoch’s reaction to Live Aid organiser Bob Geldof’s claim that Israel has been “lying” about the food crisis in Gaza.

She said: “I disagree with that. What I am seeing is Israel allowing humanitarian aid to go in. This has been an unbelievably difficult situation, it’s been heartbreaking seeing some of those pictures, hearing some of those stories.

“What we allow want to see is this awful war coming to an end. And that will happen when those hostages are released and we get a ceasefire.”

Phillips asked: “Have those pictures at all led your pretty much unwavering support for Israel to waver?”

“No, no. War is a difficult situation,” she replied. “What I see when I see Israel is a country that is trying to defend itself, mostly from Iran and a lot of its proxies – Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis. I think they’re in a very difficult situation.

“And what worries me is the length of time this war has been going on makes it very difficult for the people in Palestinian territories and also for Israel, we need to bring things to an end.”

Phillips pointed out that polling suggests Brits are moving away from supporting Israel, to which the Tory leader said she is “somebody who believes in looking at what’s actually happening”.

“The right thing is for there to a ceasefire. A lot of people are suffering on both sides, but we must’n’t forget how this started,” she claimed.

“On October 7, a massacre occurred. It was an act of war. There are still people who are being held hostage and they need to be brought home.

“All of this could be brought to an end, except that those territories are being run by a terrorist organisation. We cannot allow it to go on.”

Asked if there was anything Israel is doing which she would not support, the leader of the opposition said that Israel has a “responsibility to make sure aid gets through.”

But she noted: “I also know that allowing a terrorist organisation to win is not going to be safe, not just for Israel, but for the rest of the world.

“This is how they get incubated. And then 10, 15, 20 years’ time, the rest of us suffer for it. We need to bring this sort of terrorism to an end.”

Existing tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians soared when Palestinian militants Hamas killed 1,200 people on Israeli soil and took a further 251 people hostage.

Israel declared war and imposed a blockade on Gaza while also launching missile strikes across the territory.

According to the local Hamas-run health ministry, more than 61,000 people have died in Gaza since the conflict began.

Labour minister James Murray also told Sky News that the UK would recognise a Palestine state, describing it as a case of “when not if”. However, he refused to put a clear timeline on it.

It comes after French president Emmanuel Macron confirmed he would formally announce Palestine statehood in September.

‘Too Little, Too Late’: MPs Attack Government For Slow Response To Gaza Crisis

The UK’s actions over the Israel–Palestine conflict in recent years have been slammed as “too little, too late” by backbench MPs.

The Foreign Affairs Committee, a cross-party group made up of 11 MPs, will be releasing a new report today on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East – and tearing into the government for not doing enough.

The committee, chaired by Labour MP Emily Thornberry who used to sit in Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet, called on the UK to focus on its relationship with the US in a bid to get Israel to change tact.

It comes as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza just reached new heights after more than 21 months of war, with an estimated 900,000 children in the territory going hungry right now.

The Foreign Affairs Committee all agreed the Israeli government is “not listening to the UK, nor its friends and allies” – aside from the US.

So they are calling on the UK to use its strong relationship with the White House to indirectly influence the war.

The MPs are calling for Israel to open all crossing points into Gaza without restriction to food, medical, shelter materials and other aid, too.

The committee suggested dismantling Israel’s Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which has courted controversy since it was established to distribute food around the territory.

The MPs advised Britain support a medical evacuation of critically injured children to the UK, too.

The UK should also act “more boldly and bravely” in imposing sanctions against illegal outposts and violent Israeli settlers, the committee suggested.

The MPs also want the government to explain how the indirect exports of certain weapon components – then used by Israel – are still in line with International Humanitarian law.

In the report – complete with evidence collated over nine months – committee member John Whittingdale said: “The only issue on which we did not agree was on whether recognition of a Palestinian state now would help to bring that about.”

Committee chair Thornberry called on the government to do “all in its power” to secure a ceasefire, return the hostages and get humanitarian aid to Gaza.

She also called for the government to extend sanctions against Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

She said Brits want their government to “play its part in bringing about peace and justice”.

“There is undoubtedly huge frustration among many of the British public that the Government has consistently acted too little, too late. And there is huge frustration that the far-right government currently in charge in Israel is refusing to listen to its historic friends and allies,” she said.

“But we must not shrug our shoulders in despair and say that there is nothing we can do.

“This report puts forward practical suggestions for how the British Government can make a real difference. ”

She called for Britain to acknowledge that its greatest strength comes in alliances – whether persuading the US to pressure Israel to push for a ceasefire or “with nations in the region whose support will be vital to a long-term two-state solution”.

Thornberry added that the committee want the UK to immediately recognise the state of Palestine.

Pointing to the UK’s past with the Middle East and “peacebuilding in Northern Ireland” – “another conflict that everybody said was too difficult to solve until it was done – she said Britain was in a “unique position to do all we can to bring about peace”.

UK Government Sanctions Two Israeli Ministers Over ‘Extremist’ Gaza Comments

The UK government has sanctioned two Israeli ministers for inciting “extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights”.

Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich will be subject to a travel ban and asset freeze under the measures announced by Britain alongside Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Norway.

The move has been condemned by the Israeli government, which said it was “outrageous”.

Both men belong to right-wing parties which help to prop up Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fragile coalition government.

Smotrich has campaigned against allowing aid into Gaza, and also supported the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law.

Ben-Gvir has called for Gaza’s people to be resettled from the territory.

In a joint statement with the foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Norway, foreign secretary David Lammy said: “We are steadfastly committed to the two-state solution and will continue to work with our partners towards its implementation.

“It is the only way to guarantee security and dignity for Israelis and Palestinians and ensure long term stability in the region, but it is imperilled by extremist settler violence and settlement expansion.

“Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights. These actions are not acceptable. This is why we have taken action now – to hold those responsible to account.

“We will strive to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate release of the remaining hostages by Hamas which can have no future role in the governance of Gaza, a surge in aid and a path to a two-state solution.”

A No.10 spokesman said: “These sanctions apply to the individuals in their personal capacities, not their ministries and departments.

“Ben-Gvir and Smotrich do not speak for all Israeli people … and have a long history of dangerous extremist and inflammatory views.

“As the Israeli ambassador to the UK has said in recent interviews, their statements in their ministerial capacities do not even represent government policy.

“Their agenda and actions undermine the interests of Israeli people, including security, many Israelis see this.

“So, today, with our international partners, we have announced measures against those ministers in a personal capacity.”

In a statement, the Israeli government said: “It is outrageous that elected representatives and members of the government are subjected to these kind of measures.”

Palestinian Ambassador To UN Breaks Down In Tears Over ‘Unbearable’ Death Of Children In Gaza

The Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations broke down in tears over the “unbearable” loss of children in Gaza on Wednesday.

Riyad Mansour sobbed as he unpacked the humanitarian crisis developing in the Palestinian territory, triggered by Israel’s blockade of aid and ongoing offensive against Hamas.

Israel launched a full-scale offensive into Gaza in October 2023 in response to the Hamas attack on Israeli soil, where the militants killed 1,200 people and took 250 others hostage.

After 19 months of war in the region, more than 50,000 Palestinians are estimated to have been killed.

The US did manage to broker a two-month ceasefire earlier this year, but Israel stunned the international community when it resumed its deadly airstrikes in March killing more than 400 people.

There is growing international unease over Israel’s ongoing military actions.

Israel’s allies – the UK, France and Canada – slammed the country’s “egregious actions” in Gaza last week, warning they would initiate joint action unless the war stops.

Britain also suspended trade negotiations with Israel, and UK development minister Jenny Chapman accused the country of using “hunger as a weapon of war”.

But Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu responded by claiming the UK, France and Canada were on the “wrong side of humanity”.

He claimed the war would not end until the whole of Gaza is under Israeli control.

Speaking at the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Mansour sobbed as he explained just how dire the situation is in Gaza right now.

He said: “Since Israel broke the ceasefire in March, over 1,300 Palestinian children have been killed and around 4,000 have been injured.

“These are children and still a war against barbarism. Children! Dozens of children are dying of starvation.

“The images of mothers embracing their motionless bodies, caressing their hair, talking to them, apologising to them, is unbearable.”

“How could anyone?” He added, before putting his head in his hand and crying.

“To see the situation of the Palestinians without us having the heart to do something is beyond the ability of any normal human being to tolerate,” Mansour continued.

“Flames and hunger are devouring Palestinian children. This is why we are so outraged as Palestinians, everywhere, the 14 million of us [around the world].”

He continued: “Nothing can justify attacking Palestinians, whether Palestinians or Israelis, double standards no more.

“We are human beings. We are proud Palestinians. We sit around this table. We should be treated exactly like everybody else.”
