Biden’s Blunt Reaction To Trump’s White House ‘Toys’ Revealed In New Book

President Joe Biden wasn’t impressed by the remnants of White House life left behind by Donald Trump when he explored the residence after the inauguration, according to Peril, the new book by Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa

“Trump’s existence permeated the White House, even the residence,” they wrote, per an excerpt cited by ABC News. “One night, Biden wandered into a room where a huge video screen covered the wall. To relax, Trump used to upload programs to virtually play the world’s most famous golf courses.”

Biden’s reaction to the former president’s “toys”?

“What a fucking asshole,” he said, according to the book.

Peril also noted that Bidden and his advisers try to avoid using Trump’s name. Biden has admitted as much publicly, saying at a town hall event in February that he was “tired of talking about Donald Trump.”

“Look, for four years all that’s been in the news is Trump,” Biden said. “The next four years, I want to make sure all the news is the American people.”

Later in the event, Biden refused to use Trump’s name when it came up, referring to him only as “the former guy,” a nickname that’s stuck on social media.

Trump Sues New York Times Over Tax Bombshells For ‘No Less’ Than $100 Million

Former President Donald Trump sued The New York Times, several of its reporters and his niece Mary L. Trump on Tuesday following a series of bombshell reports about his tax records.

The Daily Beast first reported the court filing in Dutchess County, New York, on Tuesday. The suit alleges the Times worked with Mary Trump to “smuggle records out of her attorney’s office” as part of an “insidious plot” to obtain his private files.

Court records show that Mary Trump, the Times and three of its reporters who worked on the stories are named as defendants: Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russ Buettner (Barstow no longer works at the Times). The three journalists won a Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting in 2019 for their work probing Trump and his businesses’ long history of using suspect tax schemes to avoid paying millions of dollars to the government.

The suit names Mary Trump in part because she signed a nondisclosure agreement in 2001, although a previous suit related to that document declared the agreement too vague to stop her from writing a book about her uncle.

Trump is seeking damages of no less than $100 million.

The former president broke longstanding precedent during his tenure in the White House by refusing to make public his tax returns and filing many legal challenges to prevent their release. Those returns, however, are closer to being in the hands of Congress and are already with prosecutors in the Manhattan district attorney’s office. The DA’s office has spent months investigating potential fraud by Trump and his company, although no charges have been filed.

Mary Trump told the Daily Beast on Tuesday that the suit was an act of “desperation,” using some choice words to declare her uncle was “throwing anything against the wall that will stick.”

“I think he is a fucking loser,” she told the news site. “As is always the case with Donald, he’ll try and change the subject.”

La Palma’s Volcano: Dramatic Photos Capture Canary Island’s Eruption

Above: Lava flows from an eruption of a volcano at the island of La Palma in the Canaries, Spain, Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021.

A volcanic eruption on the Canary Island of La Palma saw more than 5,000 people evacuated on Sunday.

At least 20 houses were destroyed two hours after lava first began to pour out of the volcano at 3pm, leading to the rapid evacuation of four villages.

Hundreds more homes are at risk in the village of Los Llanos de Aridane as the lava spreads.

The president of Canary Islands Victor Torres said most of the evacuees were with family or friends, while the rest were in shelters.

He added: “The lava is moving towards the coast and the damage will be material.”

According to experts there has been about 17-20 million cubic metres of lava leaving the volcano.

The eruption continued late into the night and over into Monday with magma seeping into woods and farmland, as lava shot into the sky with every new eruption.

The eruption was not a complete surprise, as scientists had been watching the volcano – called Cumbre Vieja – over the last week due to increased seismic activity.

Local resident Isabel Fuentes told Spanish broadcaster TVE: “When the volcano erupted today, I was scared.

“For journalists it is something spectacular, for us it is a tragedy.”

She recalled Cumbre Vieja’s previous eruption back in 1971, adding: “I was five years old when the volcano last erupted – you never get over a volcanic eruption.”

It remains unclear how long this particular explosion could last.

According to volcanology doctor Stavros Meletlidis at the Spanish Geographical Institute, the lava has torn five holes in the hillside already.

He said: “We have to measure the lava every day and that will help us to work it out.”

No deaths have yet been reported on the tourist hotspot with a population of approximately 85,000, and according to vulcanologist Nemesio Perez, none are expected.

Christmas Dinners ‘Could Be Cancelled’ Thanks To CO2 Shortage

Christmas dinners could be “cancelled” due to the shortage of carbon dioxide gas (CO2), the owner of the UK’s biggest poultry supplier has said.

A sharp rise in gas prices has meant two large fertiliser plants in Teesside and Cheshire – which produce CO2 as a by-product – have shut, cutting supply to the food industry.

Ranjit Singh Boparan, the owner of Bernard Matthews and 2 Sisters Food Group, says this, combined with a shortage of workers, will affect the supply of Turkeys for Christmas.

CO2 is essential to the humane slaughter of livestock, extends the shelf-life of products and is vital to cooling systems for refrigeration purposes, industry leaders have said.

Mr Boparan said: “There are less than 100 days left until Christmas and Bernard Matthews and my other poultry businesses are working harder than ever before to try and recruit people to maintain food supplies.

“Nothing has fundamentally changed since I spoke about this issue in July. In fact, I take no pleasure in pointing out that the gaps on the shelves I warned about then are getting bigger by the day.

“The supply of Bernard Matthews turkeys this Christmas was already compromised as I need to find 1,000 extra workers to process supplies. Now with no CO2 supply, Christmas will be cancelled.

“The CO2 issue is a massive body blow and puts us at breaking point, it really does – that’s poultry, beef, pork, as well as the wider food industry.

“Without CO2, the bottom line is there is less throughput and with our sector already compromised with lack of labour, this potentially tips us over the edge.”

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng had meetings on Saturday with a number of industry leaders over the CO2 shortage.

He said on Twitter there is no “cause for immediate concern” over the supply of gas in the UK.

But Mr Boparan went on to say: “When poultry cannot be processed it means they must be kept on farms where there are potential implications for animal welfare, so the overall effect is welfare compromised and greatly reduced supply. Ready meals lose that vital shelf life. There is potential for massive food waste across the board.

“This is clearly a national security issue and unlike the labour supply crisis, where the Government response to our sector has been disappointing to say the least, it has to be dealt with as a matter of urgency.

“I’d like to see CO2 supplies prioritised for the food sector so UK supply can be maintained and for the Government to support these fertiliser plants who are saying they’ve switched off because of the rising price of natural gas.

“It really beggars belief when such a key infrastructure operation can arbitrarily decide to switch off the taps because of price inflation. It is irresponsible and catastrophic for our sector.

“We can’t just down tools because of inflation. In my businesses, you have to roll up your sleeves as best you can and tackle it head-on. Giving up and saying ‘inflation is too high’ is not an option.”

He added: “It’s tough enough having one hand tied behind our backs by simply not having enough people to supply food.

“With the CO2 on top of this, both hands are tied. Government need to act now or we’ll have another cancelled Christmas.”

Ian Wright, the chief executive of the UK Food and Drink Federation, told BBC Radio 4 on Saturday the Government needs to make an “intervention” on gas prices.

He went on to say: “Assuming that doesn’t happen, I would have thought that the impacts would be felt probably not by this time next week, but into the week after that.

“And of course, that’s concerning because we’re beginning to get into the pre-Christmas supply period when warehouses begin to pick up, build up their stocks, ready for the push to Christmas a few weeks later.”

A Defra spokesman said: “We are aware of the issues faced by some businesses and are working closely with industry to provide support and advice.

“We have had extensive meetings with representatives from the meat production and processing sectors, and we are continuing those conversations over the weekend.

“The UK benefits from having access to highly diverse sources of gas supply to ensure households, businesses and heavy industry get the energy they need at a fair price.

“Our exposure to volatile global gas prices underscores the importance of our plan to build a strong, home-grown renewable energy sector to further reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.”

Tucker Carlson Gets Accidentally Owned By His Own Damning On-Screen Graphic

Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s latest rant backfired briefly when a vicious on-screen graphic appeared to refer to him, if only for a moment.

The segment was an attack on Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, who reportedly contacted his counterpart in China in January to reassure him that the U.S. wasn’t about to attack in the final days of Donald Trump’s term.

Carlson has admitted to lying, and Fox News attorneys won a defamation suit by arguing that “any reasonable viewer” should be skeptical of what he says on the air.

The Fox News host has turned to increasingly extremist rhetoric on his show, including anti-vaxxer talking points, misinformation about the coronavirus, conspiracy theories about the Jan. 6 insurrection, and rants against immigrants, with both he and his guests disseminating white nationalist talking points.

Given that history, Carlson’s critics on social media couldn’t help but agree with his on-screen graphic:

Shamima Begum ‘Didn’t Realise Isis Was A Death Cult’ When She Fled To Syria

Shamima Begum explained how she thought she was “doing the right thing as a Muslim” when she first fled the UK to join Isis in Syria, supposedly unaware it was a “death cult” in an interview on Wednesday.

Begum has been trying to return to the UK, where she grew up, since 2019 but the Home Office revoked her British citizenship in 2020 and stated she should never be allowed to return.

During her first ever live interview on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, she promised to aid the authorities in its fight against Isis terrorists in the UK and vowed to face any legal consequences of her decision as long as she could return home.

Looking back to her decision to flee in 2015, Begum explained: “I did not want to hurt anyone in Syria or anywhere else in the world.

“At the time, trust me, I did not know it was a death cult, I thought it was an Islamic community that I was joining, and at the time, I had just started becoming very religious.

“I was being fed a lot of information on the internet by people in Isis telling me I need to come, I can’t be a good Muslim in the UK, and that my family will drag me down with them.”

She said she “made a mistake at a very young age” and asked for the British people to forgive her, even though it will be hard.

Begum added: “They’ve lived in fear of Isis and lost loved ones because of Isis – but I have also lived in fear of Isis and lost loved ones of Isis.”

She concluded: “I say from the bottom of my heart that I am so sorry if I ever offended anyone.”

Begum apologised for her previous interviews, where she refused to admit she had made a mistake joining Isis, and claimed she was not aware of the full extent of the terror group’s crimes at the time.

She also claimed the government “clearly don’t know what they’re doing in the fight against terrorism in the UK”, and suggested she would be able to help, having been on the inside of Isis.

But, health secretary Sajid Javid – the home secretary back in 2019– told Good Morning Britain on Wednesday that it was “absolutely the right decision to protect the British people” and not permit Begum’s UK return.

He added that the Supreme Court backed his decision.

Fox News Ripped After Host Lavishes Praise On Kim Jong Un’s Body

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un showed off what many observers believed was a much slimmer figure at a military parade this week, and at least one Fox News host is thrilled with the apparent transformation.

“He’s fit, he’s fun and he’s fascist!” Rachel Campos-Duffy said on Primetime, mimicking the commentary that might accompany a fashion show. “Take a look at Kim Jong Un flaunting his new tan and slim physique at the North Korean military parade.”

She showed images of the dictator – one of the world’s most infamous human rights abusers – and said “after this photo op, many might start calling him Slim Jong Un.”

Guest Jimmy Failla, a comedian, said he doesn’t buy it.

“He does look good!” Campos-Duffy interrupted. “I’m sorry, he looks better than our president!”

Failla argued it was a body double.

Campos-Duffy delivered her praise of the physique of an actual authoritarian dictator without irony on a show that also featured guests calling President Joe Biden an authoritarian:

Human Rights Watch says North Korea is “among the world’s most repressive countries,” noting:

“A 2014 UN Commission of Inquiry found that the government committed violations amounting to crimes against humanity, including extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, rape, and forced abortions. North Korea operates secret prison camps where presumed government opponents face torture, forced labor, and starvation.”

The US State Department also has a lengthy report detailing the human rights abuses committed by Kim’s regime

Twitter users were quick to pounce on the host and Fox News for the praise:

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki Shreds Male Reporter With Response On Why Joe Biden Supports Right To An Abortion

White House press secretary Jen Psaki had a powerful response to a male reporter who inquired why President Joe Biden supports the right to an abortion, telling him “you have never faced those choices, nor have you ever been pregnant.”

On Thursday, Psaki was asked about the decision by the US Supreme Court earlier this week that allowed a restrictive abortion law to go into effect in Texas. The law effectively bans abortion at six weeks, which is earlier than when many people realise they’re pregnant, and puts citizens at the forefront of enforcement by offering a financial incentive to sue those who have helped someone seeking an abortion. The court denied a request by abortion providers in the state to prevent the law from going into effect.

Upon a male reporter inquiring why Biden supports abortion “when his own Catholic faith teaches abortion as morally wrong?”, Psaki responded forcefully: “He believes that it’s a woman’s right. It’s a woman’s body, and it’s her choice.”

The reporter pressed Psaki further and asked, “Who does he believe, then, should look out for the unborn child?”

In response, Psaki emphasised that Biden “believes that it is up to a woman to make those decisions, and up to a woman to make those decisions with her doctor.”

“I know you have never faced those choices, nor have you ever been pregnant, but for women out there who have faced those choices, this is an incredibly difficult thing. The president believes that right should be respected,” she fired back.

Earlier on Thursday, Biden issued a statement on the court’s ruling and lambasted the Texas law as “an unprecedented assault on a woman’s constitutional rights,” insisting that it “unleashes constitutional chaos.”

The statement criticised how the law deputises citizens, noting that people will “now be empowered to inject themselves in the most private and personal health decisions faced by women” and added that the court is allowing “millions of women in Texas in need of critical reproductive care to suffer while courts sift through procedural complexities.”

Biden said he would direct the Gender Policy Council and the Office of the White House Counsel to launch “a whole-of-government effort” to respond to the court’s decision and ensure that those seeking abortions in Texas can safely access them.

US Military Releases Haunting Image Of Last Soldier To Leave Afghanistan

The official time of departure was 3:29 pm EDT Monday, or 11:59 pm in Kabul.

Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, who leads US Central Command, said more than 123,000 civilians had been evacuated from Afghanistan by the US and its allies since August 14, one of the largest airlift operations in history.

“Tonight’s withdrawal signifies both the end of the military component of the evacuation but also the end of the nearly 20-year mission that began in Afghanistan shortly after Sept. 11, 2001,” McKenzie said.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that 100 to 200 US citizens remain in Afghanistan who wish to leave and that diplomatic efforts are underway.

“The military phase is over, but our desire to bring these people out remains as intense as it was before,” Blinken said.
