Jason Momoa Has Five Blunt Words For Tourists Considering A Vacation Amid Maui Fires

A post on Jason Momoa’s Instagram page urged would-be tourists to “NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI” as deadly wildfires devastated the Hawaiian community this week.

The actor, who is of Native Hawaiian descent, passed on the all-caps message to his social media followers on Friday, when the death toll from the island’s massive blazes would rise to 80.

Jason’s post warned that Maui “is not the place to have your vacation right now”.

“Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply,” the message read. “Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown aloha to the community in this time of need.”

The language in the post, as well as video clips and images it included, appeared to originate from local non-profit organisations including ʻĀina Momona and Kāko’o Haleakalā.

Text on the clips read: “The devastation from the wildfires will have a lasting island-wide impact on Maui’s resources. Our community needs time to heal, grieve & restore. … Do not book a hotel stay. … Survivors are the priority.”

The post went on to suggest ways that people could help with relief efforts amid the wildfires.

Firefighters are continuing to battle the Maui County blazes that have flattened buildings and incinerated vehicles, with residents comparing the damage to “a war zone,” according to The Associated Press.

The wildfires, which burned through most of the historic town Lahaina, have marked Hawaii’s deadliest natural disaster in decades.

Jason Momoa’s Cheeky Approach To Flogging His Line Of Merch Gets A Big Reaction From Fans

Jason Momoa took a rather inventive approach to helping sell his new clothing line – and it’s gone down very well with fans.

Posting a short clip on his Instagram, the Aquaman star was seen sporting a new t-shirt from his line with So iLL, commenting: “We’ve got all-new shirts in, we’ve got purple, we’ve got pink, we’ve got lavender, we’ve got black.”

“Check it out,” he added as the camera panned down. “It matches the shoes. You know what I’m saying? Looking good.”

At that point, it was revealed that Jason had paired his colourful t-shirt and flip-flops with a traditional Hawaiian malo, laughing to himself as he walked off screen.

The cheeky display got a big reaction from fans in the comments, with one highlighting the clip as an example of “how to break the internet in less than ten seconds”.

“Can instagram tell how many times i watch any particular reel??” one of Jason’s followers questioned, while another agreed: “1.6m views and 1.5m of them were me.”

Another comment read: “Q: How many times did you watch this? Me: Yes.”

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: “This is very smart marketing BRAVO… you got our attention.”

Summing up the mood, another said: “I need Jesus and from the looks of these comments some of y’all do too.”

Jason was born in Hawaii, and previously shared his love of the traditional malo when he stripped down to one during an interview on Jimmy Fallon’s US talk show last year.

“I actually don’t like wearing clothes anymore,” the Fast X star insisted at the time. “I’m in that every day. I wear it all the time.”

Jason Momoa. Serving In-Flight Drinks. Anyone Else Really Thirsty?

When cabin crew wheel out the drinks trolley on your flight, it’s always a welcome sign if you’re (a) a nervous passenger and (b) off on your hols.

But passengers on a recent LA to Hawaii flight got a little bit more than ice and a slice with their onboard beverage when Jason Momoa walked the aisle handing out refreshments to those onboard.

But this being the actual Aquaman, there wasn’t a drop of alcohol in sight, just water (obvs).

The Hollywood star swapped the red carpet for the aisle of the Hawaiian Airlines flight as part of the airline’s partnership with his water company, Mananalu.

TikTok user @livinglikekylee posted a video of the 42-year-old actor personally handing out aluminium bottles filled with the purified water, which was captioned: “When Jason Momoa is your flight attendant.”

Jason – complete with a pink flower behind his ear – also documented the special occasion on his Instagram page with his own video footage.

“Bright and early. It should be a good day. I’m going home to Hawaii with the babies, and we’re doing something really cool, very cool, something like how it all started,” he said.

The “babies” the actor was referring to are his daughter Lola Iolani, 14, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 13.
