Olivia Wilde Just Wore A Wedding Dress To Her Friends’ Wedding

Olivia Wilde has never been one to adhere to conventional fashion, and that includes her style choices for weddings.

The Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling director was among the 200 guests who attended Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown’s nuptials in Napa Valley, California, over the weekend. True to form, she went against the grain, opting to wear what she described as a “wedding dress” for the occasion.

The dress in question was an ivory gown by designer Nili Lotan. While revealing her unconventional look on social media, Wilde made it clear that she was aware she was breaking a well-established wedding etiquette taboo ― but said she had a reason for doing so.

“Wore a wedding dress to a wedding so I could make a joke about it in my toast,” she quipped on her Instagram Story.

As many wedding experts will attest, it’s generally considered a major faux pas for a wedding guest to wear white, specifically as it can upstage the newlyweds. This rule is also assumed to include outfits in blush, cream and champagne fabrics, as these shades may appear white in photographs.

But Wilde said that neither Brown nor Underwood had an issue with her ensemble. “The grooms approved,” she wrote on Instagram.

In an interview with People published on Sunday, Underwood said he and Brown aimed “to break some of the traditional norms of what a ceremony and a wedding look like,” especially since it would be the first same-sex union for many of their guests.

The former Bachelor began dating Brown, a Los Angeles-based political strategist, shortly after he came out publicly as gay in April 2021.

The two men got engaged sometime around Underwood’s 30th birthday on January 26, 2022.

“2021 was the most transformative year of my life,” Underwood told People in February of that year. “Starting 2022 off with my best friend, teammate and now fiancé is something I never thought was going to be possible.”

The California Girls singer teased her costume on Sunday before the show, reminding fans of her past takes on Snow White, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Tinkerbell and more.

She finally unveiled her final form for Sunday’s show and let’s just say it’s pretty incredible. And also very appropriate for Mother’s Day!

Perry shared shots of her custom look, created by Laura Petrielli Pulice of VEX Latex, with the caption: “I’m a mother what’s your super power?!”

The singer also shared a sweet Mother’s Day message from her daughter, Daisy. The little one asked her teachers to write, “Mama, I love it when we eat snacks together. We can eat chocolate. I love you!”

Perry said that sweet note would come in handy if “anyone ever needed proof that Daisy is my daughter”.

Perry’s in-person appearance at American Idol comes just one week after she and fellow judge, Lionel Richie, headed across the pond to attend King Charles’ coronation and perform at the monarch’s Coronation Concert the following day.

The singers, who are both involved in charity work with Charles, also managed to get a surprise American Idol appearance from the king and Queen Camilla during their big weekend.

Sweden’s Loreen Makes Eurovision History After Her Song Tattoo Triumphs At Song Contest

Swedish singer Loreen has made Eurovision history after triumphing at this year’s contest.

Loreen famously first won the competition back in 2012 with her signature song Euphoria, and made a return to the Eurovision this year with her offering Tattoo.

With her second Eurovision win, Loreen matches former Irish competitor Johnny Logan as the only entrant to win the song contest on more than one occasion.

Johnny first won Eurovision in 1980 with What’s Another Year, and later repeated the feat in 1987 with Hold Me Now. Five years after that, a song he’d written called Why Me? was the winning entry for Irish singer Linda Martin.

She went into the competition a firm favourite to win, and wound up leading the way during Saturday night’s final with 583 points.

Her nearest competition was Finland, whose song Cha Cha Cha finished in second place, with 526 points.

Meanwhile, it was not the strongest night for UK entrant Mae Muller in Liverpool, where the event was held on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine.

Mae finished in second to last place after closing the show with her rendition of her entry I Wrote A Song.

Loreen’s win also means Sweden now matches Ireland as the country with the most Eurovision wins, with seven each.

Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will mark 50 years since Sweden’s first win, when ABBA stormed to victory with their hit Waterloo.

However, an unexpected tribute was paid to the Liverpudlian girl band as the 67th Song Contest took place in the northern city on Saturday night thanks to Icelandic 2020 and 2021 act Daði Freyr.

During the interval, the stage played host to a Liverpool jukebox, which saw classic Eurovision artists singing songs originally made famous by acts from the city.

It featured the likes of Netta singing Dead Or Alive’s You Spin Me Right Round and Sonia reprising her 1993 entry Better The Devil You Know.

But one particularly surreal moment came as Daði Freyr belted out an unexpected rendition of Whole Again, originally made famous by Atomic Kitten in 2000.

Mel Giedroyc was responsible for one of the highlights of Eurovision on Saturday night, as she recreated one of the Song Contest’s most iconic moments ever.

The former Great British Bake Off host was enlisted to help out the UK’s regular commentator Graham Norton, who split his duties this year after being asked to be one of the main hosts.

During one part of the night, Mel came down from the commentary box to appear behind one of the main presenters Hannah Waddingham and dressed up as the Polish butter churner from the 2014 event.

Mel made some suggestive looks as she churned away next to the Portuguese contingent, who are being represented by Mimicat and their song Ai coração, as Graham was heard losing it in the commentary box.

Mel also proved a hit with fans after stepping into the final commentary box for the first time.

With the UK holding the competition on behalf of last year’s winner’s Ukraine, Graham spent the evening dashing between the stage and commentary box, with Mel helping to fill gaps when he was with the other main hosts Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Julia Sanina.

Mel has a long history with Eurovision, having previously hosted the UK selection show on a number of occasions.

She also served as the UK’s spokesperson in 2018, having previously commentated on the semi finals in 2016 and 2017 along with Scott Mills, who now works alongside Rylan Clark.

Prior to this year’s Song Contest, Graham explained how he had ring-fenced his commentating role after being asked to host the main show.

“I know that’s really greedy of me, but I just thought if I let someone else do the commentating they could be better than me and then I’ve lost my favourite job,” he said. “So I thought, ‘No, I’m ring-fencing that.’”

He continued: “I’ll have to go, ‘Welcome to Eurovision’, then I’ll run back into my little rabbit hutch.”

Austria has qualified for the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 thanks to its ode to 19th century horror author Edgar Allan Poe.

Female duo Teya And Salena’s song has already gone viral on TikTok – but a new audience embraced the bonkers banger during the Eurovision semi-finals staged in Liverpool. The UK city is hosting the contest in Ukraine’s stead.

While the song, Who The Hell Is Edgar?, on its surface essays the American writer, in reality it is much more layered.

The official Eurovision website says it is about the “experiences as female songwriters in an industry that all too often doesn’t give women enough credit for their hard work and expertise”.

The chorus goes something like this:

Albania, Cyprus, Estonia and Belgium also qualified for the final in the second semi.

The other five countries which qualified for Saturday’s Eurovision grand final were Lithuania, Poland, Australia, Armenia and Slovenia.

Greece, Denmark, San Marino, Georgia and Iceland failed to make it through.

For the second time this week, the M&S Bank Arena was filled with Ukrainian flags flying alongside those from other countries competing for the prize.

Hosts Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina were also back on stage after making their debut as a presenting trio on Tuesday night.

Coronation Guest Proves He’s Not Secretly Meghan Markle: ‘I Look This Way All The Time’

Sir Karl Jenkins wants everyone to know he’s no impostor.

The Welsh composer good-naturedly addressed the array of unhinged theories about his appearance at King Charles’ coronation on Saturday ― namely, the allegations that he was actually Meghan Markle in a wild disguise.

“I look this way all the time,” Jenkins said of his prodigious mustache, retro mop and ’70s-chic glasses in a TikTok video on Tuesday.

“I understand there’s been a lot of interest in me since I appeared at the coronation,” Jenkins said, noting that some of his music was used in the ceremony.

He told viewers he was not there “to steal the Crown Jewels”, as some people online have joked. (Though isn’t that what you’d say if you were there to steal them?)

Jenkins assured viewers there was “nothing sinister” about his style choices or his presence at the coronation. “I’ve had the mustache since I was 18 years old,” he said. “It was very trendy then.”

You’ve heard Jenkins’ composition Adiemus, at least if you ever saw those commercials for the Pure Moods CDs in the ’90s. (A piano arrangement of the song can be heard in the background of the TikTok video above.)

At this weekend’s coronation, Jenkins sat beside Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, who later seemed tickled by all the conspiracy theories.

“I can confirm it probably wasn’t MM and had no jewels on his person as far as I could see,” Lloyd Webber tweeted Tuesday.

Markle opted against attending the coronation to stay in California to celebrate the fourth birthday of her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie.

Katy Perry was left visibly confused at Saturday’s coronation of King Charles III.

The California Gurls singer was one of several celebrities to attend the momentous occasion at London’s Westminster Abbey but appeared to be the only one unable to find her seat. The endearing moment, captured on live television, has since gone hilariously viral.

“Katy Perry not finding her seat is so me,” tweeted one person, while another wrote: “Katy Perry searching for her seat at the coronation is the perfect US representative” — and another joked that her struggle was “the equivalent vibe of us trying to find our parents in the supermarket.”

Unlike notable artists who reportedly turned the opportunity down, Perry and Lionel Richie graciously accepted the royal family’s offer to sing at Sunday’s coronation concert. Meanwhile, the speed at which she went viral on Saturday hasn’t escaped the pop star.

She tweeted shortly afterward, “don’t worry guys, I found my seat.”

Perry arrived entirely in lilac, donning a short-sleeved jacket and gloves that matched her dress. While she wore a rather sizable hat to boot, the accessory didn’t cause any problems or become viral memes — unlike those of some other attendees on Saturday.

“The way she’s trying to look for her seat with that hat, it’s adorable and funny at the same time,” one person tweeted, while another was slightly more vicious: “What on earth is she wearing? God awful, especially the frilled UFO disc on her head!”

The American Idol judge ultimately managed to find her seat and witnessed the first British coronation since Queen Elizabeth II’s in 1953. As it was also the second televised coronation, however, all eyes were on the attendees — and Perry’s brief disorientation.

Fortunately for Perry — who’ll join British boy band Take That, Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli and Welsh singer Bryn Terfel on Sunday — she’ll probably be standing during her performance.

BBC Newsreader Handles A Live TV Glitch Like A Pro

A BBC newsreader has won praise for her calm under pressure after a live TV glitch left the broadcaster in a potentially embarrassing situation.

Lukwesa Burak was anchoring the BBC News channel when the so-called “opt-out” appeared to let her down.

In a clip shared widely on Twitter, Burak finished a segment of the programme and said “around the world and across the UK, this is BBC News” as the feed cut to the channel’s titles.

Bagpipers appeared on screen briefly, before Burak could be seen stretching her arms up. She very quickly realises the camera is still rolling, and gives a look of disbelief (to put it mildly).

For what feels like an eternity, Burak stays silent. She eventually introduces a story about Ukraine.

An “opt-out” is when one set of viewers gets a different feed to another – such as adverts for an international audience which cannot be broadcast in the UK.

The BBC announced in July that BBC News and BBC World News would merge to create a single 24-hour TV channel, resulting in job losses, as part of its new digital-first strategy – which perhaps explains the gremlins.

Far from being a source of embarrassment, fellow broadcasters rallied around to praise Burak’s professionalism. She was variously described as a “legend” and “one of the best”.

Burak later took to Twitter to thank “colleagues – present and former, and all you wonderful viewers”.

As part of the shake-up, BBC Four and CBBC will also end as linear TV channels.

The BBC also plans for local radio stations to share more content and broadcast less programming unique to their areas.

The BBC needs to save a further £285 million in response to the announcement in January that the licence fee will be frozen for the next two years.

Mark Wahlberg is not that into Hollywood’s latest weight loss craze.

Speaking to Page Six for a story published on Wednesday, the famously fit actor shared his thoughts on celebrities and others taking the diabetes drug Ozempic to trim down.

Wahlberg, whose rigorous fitness routine may be one of the most daunting in the business, told the outlet that he prefers “the good old-fashioned way” of staying in shape.

“To each his own, but I do encourage people to eat right and exercise,” he said. “It’s much more [of] a lifestyle change. You’d be surprised what you can accomplish when you’re willing to do the work.”

The Uncharted star has previously emphasised that his own physique is “all natural”, but he told Page Six that “everybody has their own path”.

“I don’t knock anybody for making their own choices,” he said. “But I prefer, and I’ve seen lots of people accomplish amazing things, ordinary people doing extraordinary things on a fitness base.”

Hollywood’s obsession with appearance has often led celebrities to adopt questionable weight loss solutions. Last year, model Lori Harvey faced social media backlash for promoting what some believed was a dangerous crash diet, while actor Melanie Lynskey said she had once tried “starving” herself for a role.

Ozempic, a brand name for the medication semaglutide, has recently garnered popularity for its ability to decrease appetite, though some people with eating disorders say that the growing interest in the drug has been a nightmare for them.

Wahlberg, who wakes up at 2:30 am. to work out and exercises multiple times per day, is no stranger to transforming his body. He dropped upwards of 20 pounds and then gained nearly 50 for two films released in 2013. He more recently put on 20 pounds for 2022′s Father Stu.
