Strictly Come Dancing Frontrunner Delta Goodrem Forced To Miss Live Show On Medical Grounds

Strictly Come Dancing star Delta Goodrem has announced she will not be able to compete in this week’s live show due to an injury sustained during training.

On Tuesday evening, the Australian singer-songwriter confirmed that because of a “rib injury”, she would be sitting out Saturday night’s live show.

As is standard procedure when a Strictly contestant is injured, the Eurovision star will be allowed to return to the contest next week, provided she is fit and well.

A BBC spokesperson said: “Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing.

“In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.

“We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery.”

In her own statement, Delta told fans of the long-running dance show: “I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week.

“I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday night. I can not tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I’m going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I’II be back on that dance floor very soon.”

Signing off her message with “all my love”, the Born To Try singer added: “Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It’s so appreciated. I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week!”

Just three weeks into the competition, Delta and her professional partner Kai Widdrington had emerged as frontrunners, topping the leaderboard when it came to week one and two’s combined scores, as well as during the most recent live show.

Saturday’s Strictly live show will see the contestants celebrating legendary musicians in the show’s annual Icons Week special.

Remember last year when Alan Carr couldn’t get through trying to tell his Celebrity Traitors co-stars that he was a Faithful without bursting out laughing?

At the time, we really thought that’d be the epitome of how blatant someone could be as a Traitor on the Bafta-winning reality show.

Well, Richard E Grant took that and said “hold my poisoned chalice”.

Yes, any doubts that The Celebrity Traitors couldn’t live up to last year’s series went out the castle window mere minutes into the Thursday night’s launch show.

During the first episode of the new season, Richard was chosen by host Claudia Winkleman as one of this year’s “Traitors”, alongside Love Island host Maya Jama.

And before he’d set foot in the turret or donned his iconic cloak, the Other Bennet Sister actor had already landed himself at the centre of suspicion.

Following Claudia’s decision, the cast immediately began interrogating one another to look for early clues, with Joe Lycett insisting to Richard, truthfully, that he was part of the “Faithful”.

In the jaw-dropping scenes that followed, Joe reversed the question, asking the Oscar nominee outright: “What are you?”

Richard then somewhat overplayed his hand, trying to nonchalantly tell Joe and fellow comedian Rob Beckett: “Traitor.”

After a beat, they grilled him again, to which he doubled down: “Traitor. What’s the point in the being in the game if you’re not?”

“Right. OK,” a perplexed Joe responded, with James Blunt quipping: “That’s an interesting angle. You need to be very careful.”

Indeed, what Richard clearly intended to be a light-hearted joke or double bluff clearly came out a lot more seriously than he hoped, leading to suspicion in the castle growing like wildfire (apart from where Jerry Hall was concerned, as she maintained that her pal was kidding, even though he wasn’t…).

By the end of the episode, when it came to Richard and Maya recruiting a new Traitor, the duo narrowed it down to two of the actor’s biggest sceptics, to immediately try and diffuse the situation.

The launch show ended with James Acaster and Amol Rajan lying in two separate coffins, with one about to be recruited by the Traitors, and the other poised to become the series’ first casualty.

So yes, you might say that the new series is off to an absolutely flying start – and that’s without even getting into Julie Hesmondhalgh getting out of her chapel pew to tell everyone what a fan she was of them, Ross Kemp suspecting everyone who brushed against him of being a Traitor, and Claudia Winkleman sporting an outfit that looked like it was styled out of whipped cream.

Oh, Celebrity Traitors. It’s so good to have you back.

ITV Issues Statement About Big Brother Contestant Charlotte’s Entrance

ITV has issued a statement after new Big Brother contestant Charlotte Nott experienced an unfortunate mishap on her way into the house.

During Sunday night’s launch show, viewers were introduced to the student for the first time, during which she opened up about being a quadruple amputee in a VT package.

“When I was three years old, I lost my hands and feet to meningitis,” she explained. “People stare at me, people even take pictures of me. And I forget! I’ll be out and I’ll be thinking, ‘I must be looking quite nice today’, and then I remember, ‘it’s because I’ve actually got no limbs, that’s why’.”

She then claimed to “hate woke people”, before correcting herself, saying: “I don’t hate woke people – I love everybody! But the world is not made for people like me, and it’s just too bad! That’s what I think!”

The 18-year-old was then filmed getting out of her car and making her way into the house, but before she made it to the stairs, she was seen struggling with her shoes, at which point host Will Best ran over to help.

As Will and Charlotte attempted to continue on the stairs, she was heard saying that she needed to “take off” her prosthetic legs, with the cameras panning away from the scene.

When Charlotte was next seen, she was being interviewed by Will and his co-host AJ Odudu without her prosthetics, raising questions about the house’s accessibility among many viewers.

“My shoe came off – I’m so sorry, I had to take my legs off!” she told the pair, with AJ insisting she had “nothing to apologise for”.

ITV has since told HuffPost UK: “Prior to Charlotte’s entrance to the House, we worked closely with her and a specialist access co-ordinator to understand her access requirements and agree, with her, the arrangements for her entrance and time in the House.

“A plan was put in place based on those discussions and agreed with Charlotte; however, she had an unforeseen issue with her shoe.”

It was also noted that Charlotte had been offered the use of a ramp to make her entrance, but turned it down in favour of stairs, and rehearsed her entrance with Will before the show went live.

Numerous tweaks were made to the Big Brother house to accommodate Charlotte and make it more accessible, in collaboration with the show’s specialist access co-ordinator.

HuffPost UK has contacted ITV for additional comment.

Upon entering the Big Brother residence, she told her new housemates that the heel of her shoe had broken, which led to her taking off her leg prosthetics completely.

Charlotte is one of 16 new housemates currently living under Big Brother’s watchful eye.

At the end of Sunday’s final, the group were informed that one of them was a mole specifically put in the house to ruffle feathers and cause “chaos”.

Big Brother airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX.

First Look As The Stars Of 2026 Get Strictlyfied Before Making Their Dancing Debuts

With just over a week to go until Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens, the cast have been getting their glam on in preparation.

Over the course of the summer, the BBC began slowly revealing the 15 stars competing on Strictly in 2026, which includes an eclectic mix of stars from the world of TV, music, sport and beyond.

Now, fans have been treated to a first look at the cast after being Strictly-fied, ahead of their dance floor debuts next week.

Publicity photos of all 15 cast members were released on Thursday, showcasing the celebs in all of the sparkles, sequins and adornments viewers have come to expect from the BBC dance show.

When she was first announced for the new series, actor Jaime Winstone previously made it clear that the glamour of Strictly was part of the appeal for her, teasing: “I am no stranger to a dance floor, but the ballroom is a whole new world for me.

“I love a challenge, though, so can’t wait to enter my showgirl era and get super sparkly!!”

Similarly, record-breaking Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey told the BBC that she is “looking forward to getting into my glittery and fake tan era!”.

EastEnders staple Lacey Turner was the first star to be confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, followed by reality star Dani Dyer, who was forced to bow out of last year’s season early after sustaining an injury during training.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens on Saturday 19 September at 7.25pm on BBC One.

The following week, Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe will then front their first live show, after being announced as the show’s new hosts earlier this year.

This Year’s Great British Bake Off Cast Has Been Unveiled – Here’s Everything You Need To Know

The Great British Bake Off casting team has knocked it out of the park once again.

With just two weeks to go until the tent reopens for another season – with new judge Nigella Lawson at the helm for the first time – Channel 4 has introduced us to the 12 new contestants, and they’re as eclectic a bunch as ever.

Among them are a Bhangra-dancing paediatric doctor, a former-podium-dancer-turned-advertising-exec, an aspiring competitive sprinter and a polyamorous drag king.

In other words, yes, there are plenty of different flavours in the mix this time around.

The Neighbourhood Bumped From Its Primetime Slot After Falling Viewing Figures

Graham Norton’s reality show The Neighbourhood has been pulled from its primetime TV slot just weeks after its big launch.

According to this week’s ITV schedule, The Neighbourhood has been bumped from its regular 9pm slot on Thursdays and Fridays back to 10.45 pm, in a huge blow for the struggling series.

The competition show sees real-life friends and families move into a community to compete against each other for a life-changing amount of money.

In Thursday’s schedule, it’s been replaced by an old episode of Davina McCall‘s Long Lost Family, which originally aired two years ago.

On Friday, meanwhile, the 9pm slot is now occupied by an episode of Beat The Chasers, which was first shown in 2021.

An ITV rep told The Sun: “The full box set of The Neighbourhood is now available to stream on ITVX. Additionally, the show will continue to air in an evening slot on ITV.”

Despite its starry presenter, a huge promotional push by ITV and prime-time slot, The Neighbour was met with poor reviews when it premiered towards the end of April, and had reportedly only pulled in 500k viewers by its third episode.

This follows a trend of poor ratings for recent ITV shows they hoped would rival the success of The Traitors, with Genius Game and The Fortune Hotel also suffering from disappointing viewing figures, and both having since been cancelled by the channel.

Despite its poor performance, Graham had previously spoken enthusiastically about The Neighbourhood, insisting: “It leans into our curiosity about what’s behind closed doors and there’s something really compelling and addictive about seeing the way the existing households interact with each other.

“I thought, ‘I’d watch that’ – and I’d never want to work on something I wouldn’t watch. I thought, ‘this show would hook me!’.”

The Neighbourhood continues at 10.45pm on Thursday and Friday on ITV1, with the full series available to stream on ITVX now.

Jimmy Bullard Sets The Record Straight On I’m A Celebrity Exit And Final Plans

Former I’m A Celebrity star Jimmy Bullard has spoken out amid rumours he was planning on swerving the show’s upcoming live final.

Earlier this month, I’m A Celebrity: South Africa viewers saw Jimmy become embroiled in a heated bust-up with campmate Adam Thomas, after the former footballer chose to cut a Bushtucker Trial short, effectively sending them both home in the process.

In the end, it was decided that Adam would be allowed to remain in camp, but not before he let Jimmy have it in a blazing row, which reportedly culminated in the soap star branding him a “cunt” in unaired scenes.

Since then, it was reported that Jimmy would not be attending Friday’s live final as he and Adam are still not on speaking turns.

However, he’s now set the record straight on his exit – and whether or not he will be reuniting with his former co-stars later this week.

On Wednesday, Jimmy reposted a clip of I’m A Celebrity star Sinitta on Instagram, in which she claimed that he was struggling in camp after his friend Gemma Collins’ elimination, and that he was also worried about his father’s health back home, which motivated him to quit.

“Shame that wasn’t shown!” he wrote alongside the clip, before telling his followers: “My version will be told Friday! Can’t wait to see you all – well some of yous!!”

In an on-camera interview, Jimmy also admitted that “letting Adam down” by eliminating himself was a “killer”, but that his dad not being “too well” motivated his decision.

He also confirmed that losing both Gemma and David Haye simultaneously had left him feeling that his “time was up in the game”.

I’m A Celebrity: South Africa was filmed last year, and is now airing on ITV, meaning viewers have had no say in who stays and goes.

Viewers will choose their winner during Friday’s final, though, with a public vote deciding who will follow Myleene Klass to become the next crowned I’m A Celebrity “Legend”.

Adam Thomas Tearfully Shares How I’m A Celebrity Rows Have ‘Changed’ Him

Adam Thomas has opened up about the toll that his second stint on I’m A Celebrity has taken on him.

Last year, the Emmerdale actor was one of 12 former campmates to return to I’m A Celebrity for its latest all-star series, which was filmed in South Africa and is currently airing on ITV.

Over the course of the season, it’s fair to say that Adam hasn’t had the easiest time, first being moved to tears a spat with David Haye, and later having a much more explosive row with Jimmy Bullard.

During the latest instalment of his podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros, Thomas became emotional as he claimed that the former heavyweight champion “fucked” with his head during their time on the show.

“It was like being back in school again,” he claimed to his brothers Ryan and Scott Thomas. “It wasn’t physical bullying or anything like that – and I’m not saying it was bullying – but he was just mind fucking me.”

He lamented: “I just never stuck up for myself whilst I was in there, and I was like, ‘shit bro, I wish I stuck up for myself’. That was beating me up more than anything.”

Adam also disclosed that since leaving I’m A Celebrity, he’s been seeing a therapist, as he felt so changed by his experience.

“I’m not the same person,” he continued. “Like, I know for a fact I am not the same person as I was when I went into the jungle to when I came out. It’s changed me – and that’s no over-exaggeration.”

He added: “I’m in therapy now because, like, it’s fucked with me mentally. I just thought, ‘How is this happening? I’m a 37-year-old man’. Like, ‘How am I letting some other person do this to me in here?’.”

Adam later became tearful as he told his siblings: “If I saw that happening to anyone else, I’d stand up for them, man. But I just couldn’t do it for myself. I just became like a little kid again.”

Since his spat with David aired, Adam told his Instagram followers: “He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.”

I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec also agreed that David’s conduct had “crossed the line”, while the retired boxer himself has also shared his side of the story following his elimination.

“[There’s] no bad blood from my side,” he was quoted as saying, adding: “When a grown man tells me that a fun TV show – where we’re being paid handsomely every single day – is the hardest thing he’s ever been through, it’s just not a frequency I recognise.”

After Adam’s latest podcast interview was made public, David then responded with some somewhat questionable comments in The Sun.

“If a few comments breaks him, how soft is he? How weak, how brittle-spirited is he?” he said of Adam, claiming: “It’s probably £20,000-£25,000 per day for being in that jungle. So to get up and do some trial or doing whatever, how is that hard?”
