Hairy Bikers Star Dave Myers Opens Up About ‘Brutal’ Side Effects Of Chemotherapy

Dave Myers has opened up about the side effects of chemotherapy, after undergoing treatment for cancer.

After going through several rounds of chemo, Dave described how “brutal” if was not being able to eat after losing his appetite.

Appearing on the Seasoned podcast, host Tommy Banks asked the TV cook if he’d had to change his eating habits, to which he replied: “It’s funny, when you first start chemotherapy… it’s quite hard. I’m still having it. It really was brutal, I lost so much weight and then it’s a battle to get your calories in.

“At first I thought, ‘Right, this is great, I can eat all those pies I haven’t been eating for years’, except the appetite was dreadful!”

Dave continued: “And for me, who’s a glutton, losing my appetite was awful. A can of soup was about as far as I could go, but then it slowly comes back. And now I’ve got to the point where I’m at the weight I want to be, and I want to maintain it.

“I am starting to think very carefully about what I put in. I have to cut down on not so much butter, because I’ve got the calories in now, eating a lot more pulses, and an awful lot more beans.”

Dave went on to describe undergoing treatment over the past year as “pretty crappy”.

He added: “I think it’s about eating for the immunity, your heart, for fibre. And as you get older, well, young as well, it’s important to eat well, but still have that knack of making food tasty so you don’t feel as though it’s a penance.”

Dave, who competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, returned to TV last year and said he will resume filming the Hairy Bikers with his TV partner Si King in May.

The Seasoned podcast is available to stream now.

Gwyneth Paltrow Insists Taylor Swift Didn’t Inspire One-Dollar Countersuit In Ski Accident Trial

Gwyneth Paltrow was questioned about her friendship with Taylor Swift during her ongoing trial about a skiing accident she was involved in seven years ago.

Back in 2016, the Oscar winner and a now-retired optometrist, Terry Sanderson, were involved in an incident at a ski resort in Park City, Utah.

Sanderson is suing Paltrow over the accident, claiming her “negligence” caused him to suffer “four broken ribs and permanent brain damage”. He is seeking up to $3,276,000 (around £2,688,000) in damages.

Paltrow has also filed her own counterclaim, accusing Sanderson of being responsible for the incident, and is seeking just one dollar in damages.

On Friday, the Shakespeare In Love star took to the stand for the first time, where Sanderson’s legal team asked whether her one-dollar countersuit was inspired by Taylor Swift, who was awarded the same amount in damages in a sexual assault trial in 2017.

“It’s an actual dollar that I’m asking for,” Paltrow told the jury. “It’s symbolic because the damages would actually be more.”

Asked whether Swift inspired the suit, the Goop founder insisted: “I think I said that I had not been familiar with [the Taylor Swift case] but I since am.”

When Sanderson’s team questioned whether she was friends with Swift, Paltrow responded: “No… I would not say we are good friends, we are friendly; I’ve taken my kids to one of her concerts before but we don’t talk very often.”

The eight-day trial is expected to continue next week, after which a jury will make a decision.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham Unveils Huge New Tattoo Of Wife Nicola’s Face

When the Oscar winner asked her guest about his “latest tattoo”, Brooklyn rolled up his sleeve to reveal a “portrait” of Nicola on his right bicep.

“That’s my latest one,” he explained. “And I actually got, on the same day, some of the lyrics of the song that she walked down the aisle to.”

“He’s so sentimental!” J-Hud then enthused.

“My forever boy. Read this anytime you feel anxious,” the message, inked on his back, reads. “I want you to know how deeply loved you are.

“You have the kindest heart I’ve ever met and hope I never go a day without your love. I think you are so incredible. Just we can get through it all together if you breathe slow and trust. I love you beyond. Love always.”

Ed Sheeran Speaks Candidly About Past Issues With Disordered Eating

Ed Sheeran has spoken candidly about his past experiences of disordered eating.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the chart-topping musician shared that in the early years of his career, he found it difficult to be compared physically to other male artists he worked with, specifically naming Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and One Direction.

I’m self-conscious anyway, but you get into an industry where you’re getting compared to every other pop star,” he said. “I was in the One Direction wave, and I’m like, ’Well, why don’t I have a six pack?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, because you love kebabs and drink beer.’

“Then you do songs with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. All these people have fantastic figures.”

He continued: “I found myself doing what Elton [John] talks about in his book — gorging, and then it would come up again.”

“There’s certain things that, as a man talking about them, I feel mad uncomfortable,” Ed explained. “I know people are going to see it a type of way, but it’s good to be honest about them. Because so many people do the same thing and hide it as well.”

Ed went on to tell the music publication that he has “a real eating problem”, describing himself as a “binge eater”.

“I’m a binge-everything,” he added. “But I’m now more of a binge exerciser, and a binge dad. And work, obviously.”

The NHS website describes binge eating disorder as “regularly eating a lot of food over a short period of time until you’re uncomfortably full”.

It adds that people of all ages and genders “can get binge eating disorder”, although it “usually starts in the late teens or early 20s”.

Earlier this month, the Grammy winner announced his new album, – (pronounced Subtract), would be coming later this year, and was inspired by a series of events that he said “changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art” in the past 12 months.

This included his close friend Jamal Edwards’ death, as well as his wife Cherry Seaborn’s health issues, after she was diagnosed with a tumour while pregnant with their second child.

Gwyneth Paltrow Responds To Backlash Over Comments About Her Eating Habits And Wellness Routine

Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to the backlash she has faced after revealing her eating habits and wellness routine during a recent podcast interview.

The Hollywood star faced criticism from dieticians and nutritionists after speaking of how her daily habits include a coffee, exercise for an hour and then bone broth for lunch, followed by an early paleo dinner.

After her comments on Dr. Will Cole’s podcast The Art of Being Well did the rounds on social media, Gwyneth has now used her Instagram Story to clarify she eats “far more than bone broth and vegetables” and she was not sharing “advice for anyone else”.

Revealing she has been experiencing post-Covid symptoms, Gwyneth said: “This is a person I’ve been working with for over two years, now, to deal with some chronic stuff.

“The way it manifests for me is very high levels of inflammation over time, so I’ve been working with Dr Cole to really focus on foods that aren’t inflammatory.”

The Sliding Doors star said she’s been eating a lot of “cooked vegetables, all kinds of proteins,” and “healthy carbs” to lower inflammation.

Gwyneth insisted that her routine had been tailored to her based on her own “medical results” and “extensive testing”, and was not something she was recommending to others.

She said: “This was a transparent conversation with me and my doctor. It’s not meant to be advice for anyone else. It’s really just works for me, and it’s been very powerful and very positive.”

The actor also said the food habits she spoke of on the podcast don’t represent the foods she eats every day.

“And by the way, I eat far more than bone broth and vegetables,” she said. “I eat full meals, and I also have a lot of days of eating whatever I want. And eating you know french fries and whatever.”

She added: “My baseline really has been to try to eat healthy and eat foods that will really calm that inflammation down.”

Drew Barrymore Had The Best Response After Hugh Grant Slated Her ‘Horrendous’ Singing

Drew Barrymore had a musical response after her former co-star Hugh Grant said her singing voice was “horrendous”.

The two stars previously shared the screen in the romantic comedy Music And Lyrics, in which Drew portrayed an aspiring songwriter and Hugh played a washed-up 80s pop singer.

Over the course of the film, both Drew and Hugh sing multiple times, which the Bridget Jones’s Diary actor recently spoke about during an interview with Wired.

Asked whether it was his own singing voice that we heard in the 2007 film, Hugh explained: “Yes… but I’m auto-tuned beyond belief. Actually, that’s not true, I’m auto-tuned a bit, but not as much as some.”

“Drew Barrymore was in that film with me and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous,” he added. “I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”

Responding to Hugh’s comments, Drew shared a video of herself singing the song’s finale number, A Way Back Into Love, which the pair perform as a duet on the film’s soundtrack, into her hairbrush.

Oh Hugh? Hughbert? That’s for you,” she joked at the end of the clip.

In Hugh’s defence, he did later go on to praise Drew’s performance technique, noting: “once they tuned her up, she sounded way better than me, because she’s got heart and voice and rock ’n’ roll. Whereas I sounded like Julie Andrews, and I was meant to be rock ’n’ roll.”

Music And Lyrics featured original songs by Fountains Of Wayne frontman Adam Schlesinger, who died in 2020 due to Covid complications.

Hugh was back in the headlines this week following his appearance at the Academy Awards.

Not only did he raise eyebrows when he stopped for an interview with Ashley Graham on the red carpet, he also caused a stir during the ceremony with a typically self-deprecating joke.
