James Newman Was Contacted By One Of Music’s Biggest Stars After Eurovision Disappointment

James Newman may suffered crushing disappointment at this year’s Eurovision, but it seems his consolation prize wasn’t too bad.

The Embers singer has revealed he received a call of support from none other than Coldplay’s Chris Martin after picking up the dreaded “nul points” at Saturday’s Song Contest.

Speaking to Radio 1′s Newsbeat, James said Chris FaceTimed him on Monday morning to give him some words of encouragement.

“He told me to not take the result personally, said I was amazing and told me to keep my chin up,” James revealed.

“I’ve grown up listening to him, he’s an amazing songwriter so it made me feel so much better.”

In the interview, James also stood by his Eurovision performance, saying he “couldn’t have done any better”.

“The dancers nailed it every time and I think it looked great,” he insisted.

Chris Martin contacted James after Saturday’s disappointing Eurovision result

The United Kingdom languished at the bottom of the leaderboard as Italy romped to victory during Saturday’s event.

James scored zero points from the jury vote and from the public vote and was the only entry to do so poorly.

The last time the UK scored “nul points” was in 2003, when Jemini infamously picked up nothing for their rendition of Cry Baby.

James had previously broken his silence on Saturday’s result, insisting he is focusing “on the positives of this amazing experience” instead.

In a lengthy statement on social media, James wrote: “I want to focus on the positives of this amazing experience. I stood on a stage and sang to hundreds of millions of people with a song that I wrote and love.”

He added: “The thing about writing songs is that there is no guarantee that a song you think will connect with people, will connect with an audience.”

In a TikTok interview, Perrie said: “We were on a work Zoom and we were chatting about things that were coming up in our schedule because in Little Mix we are blocked out two years in advance.

“I was thinking, ‘I won’t be able to do that’.

“I messaged my manager and she called me and said, ‘You’re pregnant’.

“I was like, ’How do you know? And she said, ‘Because I am pregnant’. Then she said, ‘Can I add someone to the call?’”

Perrie continued: “I just heard this voice that said, ‘Perrie! You too!’ And then we just cried our eyes out. We couldn’t believe it.

“What timing! It wasn’t planned.”

Leigh-Anne was first to publicly announce she was pregnant with fiancé Andre Gray on 4 May.

The couple said they couldn’t “believe the dream is finally coming true” as they shared pictures from a stunning pregnancy photoshoot on the band’s Twitter account.

Pink Wishes She’d ‘Reached Out’ To Support Britney Spears Over The Years

Pink has reflected on rising to fame alongside Britney Spears in the late 1990s, saying she wished she’d helped out her pop contemporary when she was struggling.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the three-time Grammy winner was asked about Framing Britney Spears, the controversial New York Times documentary about Britney’s personal life.

“I love Britney, and here’s the thing about all of us voyeurs — none of us know what’s going on,” Pink said. “We’re not there. And I would like to. I think we all would like to, and we feel this fierce protectiveness over her, for good reason — she’s a sweetheart. All I know is she’s incredibly sweet, and I want her to be happy.”

The singer told host Andy Cohen that watching the documentary made her wish she’d “reached out more” to Britney, who is engaged in a legal battle with her father over a court-ordered conservatorship that limits her authority over her own finances.

“I don’t like feeling helpless or powerless, and I can only imagine how she feels,” she said. “She could have used some support. The media tore her apart, and the paparazzi are scum. I wish I could’ve reached out and gave her a hug.”

Earlier this month, Spears blasted the scrutiny over her private life that Framing Britney Spears had ignited.

“These documentaries are so hypocritical,” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t know y’all but I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life … I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life and unfortunately my friends … I think the world is more interested in the negative.”

This week, Pink unveiled her own documentary, All I Know So Far. The film takes a behind-the-scenes look look at her Beautiful Trauma World Tour in the style of Madonna’s Truth or Dare and Beyoncé’s Homecoming

Pink also opened up about turning down the chance to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019. Maroon 5 accepted the gig instead, delivering a widelypanned performance with rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott as guests.

Pink didn’t single out Maroon 5 specifically, but hinted that the criticism the band and other artists have received after performing at halftime – as well as her support of the Black Lives Matter movement – factored into her decision.

“I would have a lot of fun doing it and it would be great, but I feel like nobody can win at that anymore,” she said. “It seems like anybody that does that halftime show, people just pick them apart.

“Also, I would probably take a knee, and people would be upset,” she added.

Billy Porter Opens Up About Living With HIV For Past 14 Years

Billy Porter has spoken for the first time about living with HIV for the past 14 years.

In a piece for The Hollywood Reporter, the Pose actor opened up about receiving the diagnosis in 2007, saying he has been “living it and being in the shame of it for long enough”.

“There’s no more stigma – let’s be done with that. It’s time,” he said.

“The shame of that time compounded with the shame that had already (accumulated) in my life silenced me, and I have lived with that shame in silence for 14 years.”

Billy said he told few people about his diagnosis, not even his mother, adding that he wasn’t certain if he could “have a life and a career” if “the wrong people knew”.

“It would just be another way for people to discriminate against me in an already discriminatory profession,” he said. “So I tried to think about it as little as I could. I tried to block it out.”

He said the Covid crisis made him confront his trauma, and he eventually “ripped the band-aid off” and told his mother on the day of filming the final episode of Pose.

However, Billy used his character in Pose – ballroom emcee Pray Tell – as a proxy, saying: “I was able to say everything that I wanted to say through a surrogate.

“As a Black person, particularly a Black man on this planet, you have to be perfect or you will get killed. But look at me. Yes, I am the statistic, but I’ve transcended it.”

Billy also explained that his viral load is undetectable thanks to “amazing” developments in HIV medication, which also means that he cannot transmit the virus.

“This is what HIV-positive looks like now. I’m going to die from something else before I die from that.

“My T-cell levels are twice yours because of this medication.”

He added: “I’m doing this for me. I have too much shit to do, and I don’t have any fear about it anymore.

“I don’t care what anyone has to say. You’re either with me or simply move out of the way.”

Billy is one of the main stars of hit US drama Pose, which depicts New York’s ballroom scene of the 1980s and ’90s against the backdrop of the HIV and AIDS crisis.

The show broke fresh ground for queer representation upon its 2018 premiere by featuring television’s largest-ever cast of transgender actors in series regular roles, as well as the largest LGBTQ cast for a scripted series.

In 2019, Billy also became the first gay Black man to win an Emmy for lead actor in a drama for his portrayal of Pray Tell.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the third series of Pose would be the show’s last, and consist of seven episodes.

Emma Stone Reveals Why She Suspects Leonardo DiCaprio Thinks She’s ‘A Little Weird’

While Emma Stone is a Hollywood legend in her own right, it’s good to know she’s as goofy around other big stars as we would be.

The La La Land actor has said she is convinced Leonardo DiCaprio thinks she’s “a little weird” after her behaviour around him.

Emma is a self-confessed Leo super fan, and described meeting the Titanic star when he presented her with her Oscar in 2017 as “the most surreal moment of my life”.

“I was like, I’d seen Titanic seven and a half times in theatres. He was the love of my life,” Emma told SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle

“I had a picture of him in my bedroom that was signed, that I had gotten for my birthday when I was like 12 years old and I was walking to Leo. I was like, this is officially the most surreal moment of my life. I could not believe it.”

Emma, who won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in La La Land, continued: “I think he probably thinks I’m like a little weird, cause whenever I see him, I’m kind of like, ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ You know, just in little moments when you’re at the same event or something. He’s very sweet though.”

Asked to expand on what Leo is like IRL, Emma continued: “He’s very tall and he’s so lovely.

“It doesn’t really seem fair because then it’s like putting someone in a place that like no human beings should really be in that kind of place,” she said. “That’s silly—like nobody’s any different than anybody.”

However, Emma added that to her, Leo will always be his heartthrob character from Titanic.

“He’s stuck in my head as Jack Dawson. He just always will be,” she said.

Ariana Grande Confirms She Married Dalton Gomez Over The Weekend

Ariana Grande has confirmed she married her partner Dalton Gomez over the weekend.

On Monday, TMZ reported that Ariana married the real estate agent – who she began dating around a year and a half ago – at her home in California.

A rep for the chart-topping singer has now confirmed this to be the case, telling People magazine: “They got married. It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people.

“The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”

The happy couple began dating in January 2020, with Ariana confirming her new relationship when Dalton made a brief appearance in the music video for her Justin Bieber collaboration Stuck With U.

She confirmed their engagement in an Instagram post in December, sharing a slideshow of photos – including a close-up of her eye-catching diamond ring – alongside the message: “Forever n them some.”

Ariana has largely kept the romance private from her fans, but has shared occasional snaps of Dalton on Instagram, including a special birthday post back in August.

“HBD to my baby my best friend my fav part of all the days,” she wrote at the time. “I love u.”

Last year, Ariana topped the UK singles chart with her solo hit Positions, as well as the Lady Gaga duet Rain On Me.

She later enjoyed huge success with her sixth studio album, also named Positions, and teamed up with Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson on a remix of the former’s festive hit Oh Santa.

Prince Harry Reveals Guidance New Neighbour Orlando Bloom Has Offered Since Moving To LA

Prince Harry has revealed he has an alliance in fellow Brit Orlando Bloom since his move to California.

Since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have relocated to Los Angeles, where they are neighbours with Orlando and his wife, pop singer Katy Perry.

Speaking on the podcast Armchair Expert, Harry explained that he and Orlando have bonded about the paparazzi, with the Lord Of The Rings actor offering him a heads-up about photographers in their area.

“Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message, because he’s just down the road and we sort of keep in contact because of the paparazzi,” Harry explained.

“He sent me a photograph which his security got of this long-haired guy with a beanie on, with his ear pods in, with his massive camera lying in the back of his 4×4 truck.

“A woman driving who did the peace sign was sitting there as a distraction, and he is laid down in the back of this truck taking photographs of them out with their kid and whoever else is in that area.”

Despite the paparazzi presence, Harry also told the podcast that he still feels like he has more privacy in his new life than he did while still carrying out royal duties.

He insisted: “Here, I can actually lift my head and I feel different. My shoulders have dropped, so [have Meghan’s].

“You walk around feeling a little bit more free. I get to take Archie on the back of my bicycle. I never had the chance to do that.”

During the same interview, Harry lifted the lid on his life as a member of the Royal Family, admitting it was something he wanted to leave behind as far back as his 20s.

“I think that the biggest issue for me was that, being born into it, you inherit the risk. You inherit the risk that comes with it ― you inherit every element of it without choice,” Harry said.

“Because of the way that the UK media are, they feel an ownership over you. Literally, like, full on ownership. And then they give the impression to some of their ― or most of their readers ― that that is the case. But I think it’s a really dangerous place to be, if you don’t have a choice.”

Ryan Reynolds’ Cheeky Birthday Gift For David Beckham Couldn’t Have Been More On Brand

Ryan Reynolds treated David Beckham to a very special (and very Ryan Reynolds) belated birthday gift.

Earlier this year, the Deadpool actor made headlines when it was announced he was officially the co-owner of fifth division football club Wrexham AFC, alongside fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

Given he’s good friends with a modern icon of the sport – known for playing for iconic clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid (not to mention being the co-owner of Inter Miami CF) – it made sense that Ryan would give his pal Becks a football-themed treat for his birthday.

And we’re sure the fact he was able to plug his latest venture in the process didn’t exactly hurt either…

To sweeten the deal, Ryan also sent David a few bottles of American Aviation Gin for his birthday… another brand he just happens to co-own.

Posting footage of his belated birthday gifts on his Instagram story, David explained: “I’ve arrived home to a very lovely gift, Aviation American Gin ‘from one football legend to another. Happy birthday, Becky. RR,’ which I assume is Mr Reynolds.

“Thank you very much, I’m loving my personalised Wrexham shirt. Thank you very much, man, Ryan. Amazing.”

Fortunately, David seemed a lot more taken with his gift than another freebie that recently arrived at the Beckham household.

Last month, Victoria Beckham did little to mask her disdain when she was gifted some Crocs in the post from Justin Bieber.

In a subsequent post, she confessed she’d “rather die” than wear the shoes.
