Victoria Beckham Addresses Family Fall-Out With Son Brooklyn

Victoria Beckham has spoken out for the first time about her family’s estrangement from her eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal in an interview published on Thursday, the former Spice Girls performer was asked about her family’s ongoing public rift with her eldest child.

Without saying Brooklyn’s name, the fashion designer replied: “We love our children so much.”

She continued: “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children.

“And, you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Victoria and her husband Sir David Beckham share four children – 27-year-old Brooklyn, 23-year-old Romeo, 21-year-old Cruz and 14-year-old Harper.

Back in January, Brooklyn made headlines the world over with a series of candid Instagram stories, in which he accused his parents of “trying to endlessly ruin” his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Brooklyn took aim at his parents for what he called their ongoing attempts to forcefully try to control “narratives in the press about our family”.

He also alleged that his mum “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola during their 2022 wedding ceremony.

“I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn wrote at the time.

“Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”

He added: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

While Sir David has not addressed his son’s comments directly, he did make some well-timed comments during an appearance on Squawk Box in January, the day after Brooklyn’s posts, telling the show’s hosts that “children are allowed to make mistakes”.

“They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. So, that’s what I try to teach my kids,” he said. “You have to sometimes let them make those mistakes.”

During the interview, the football icon also spoke about how “dangerous” social media can be.

“I’ve always spoke about social media and the power of social media, for the good and for the bad,” he said.

“The bad, we’ve talked about, what kids can access these days and it can be dangerous. But what I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons.”

‘I Can’t Help How I Was Born’: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham Enters The ‘Nepo Baby’ Chat

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has spoken out amid the ongoing discussion about Hollywood nepotism.

Although conversations about industry nepotism are not exactly anything new, the debate blew up in 2022, when New York Magazine ran a feature dubbed The Year of The Nepo Baby.

Since then, a string of public figures who have benefited from their own connections within show business (dubbed “nepo babies” by many) have spoken out on the subject – the latest being Brooklyn, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham.

I can’t help how I was born,” he told InStyle magazine, ahead of the launch of his new brand Cloud23.

“I couldn’t ask for better parents and I’m just trying to work my ass off and trying to make a name for myself. That’s all I can say, really.”

Throughout his time in the spotlight, Brooklyn has tried his hand at everything from football and photography to modelling. In recent years, he’s focussed on his love of cooking, which has garnered mixed results.

“I always wanted to go the football route,” he explained, noting that he “loved it so much” but “just didn’t have the right head for it”.

“When you’re growing up, especially with the dad that I had, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, the oldest son’s going to be a footballer.’ And I loved it. I really, really, really did, and I miss it so much,” he continued.

“I did football—that didn’t work out. Then I went into photography. I had a lot of fun with that for a few years. And then, what else did I do? I’ve always done a bit of modeling.

“[My parents] didn’t care what I did or what I wanted to do. But, they were just like, ‘As long as you’re nice, you’re humble, and you work hard and you put your head down, that’s the most important thing. You can do whatever you want and it’s whatever you choose to do—try and be the best at that’.”

On critics of his food credentials, Brooklyn said: “I’m so used to it. It makes me… I kind of like it, in a way, just because it makes me really want to prove to people…

“Until two years ago, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I think with all the rubbish I get, my mum’s just like, ‘Prove them wrong. Never respond to that rubbish, just prove them wrong’.”

Brooklyn previously hit back at his detractors in 2022, insisting: “I always wish them well, the haters. I’m just doing what I love doing, staying healthy, being happy, and that’s what it is.”

He added: “I don’t understand why people still think that I try and act like a professional, because I’m absolutely not.

“I’ve always said, this is the very beginning. I have a lot to learn. I’m probably never going to stop learning.”

Doubling down during a 2023 interview with Insider, he insisted: “I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me. My message to them is to keep writing whatever they want to write. There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down.

“I’m doing my thing and working my bum off. So they can keep writing what they want, but it’s not going to bother me — I’m just going to keep doing my thing.”

David Beckham Shares Amazing Candid Family Photos To Mark Victoria’s 50th Birthday

David Beckham took us all on a nostalgia tribute as he shared an emotional tribute to his wife Victoria on her 50th birthday.

On Wednesday morning, the former England striker shared a montage of personal family photos and videos, which also included footage from Victoria’s days in the Spice Girls and her fashion career, to commemorate her big day.

The video ended with candid clips of Victoria at home with the couple’s four children, as well as scenes of the A-list couple working out and taking dance lessons together.

Happy birthday to my beautiful wife,” David wrote. “As you head into this birthday you should look back and be proud of what you have accomplished, achieved and what you have built, Posh Spice, business woman and of course marrying an England captain.

“But your biggest success[es] are your children, you guide them, love them and teach them… they love you beyond words, we all love you so much. Have a special day you deserve it all.”

He concluded: “50 and fit… I AM BEING HONEST.”

“I love you all so much,” Victoria then commented underneath David’s post.

David and Victoria’s eldest children Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz also posted their own special messages on their mum’s 50th.

The couple are also parents to a 12-year-old daughter, Harper, who does not have social media.

David and Victoria have been married since 1999, having begun dating two years earlier.

Interest in the pair skyrocketed last year thanks to David’s hit Netflix documentary, titled simply Beckham, although many viewers conceded that it was actually his wife who wound up stealing every scene she was in.

Rebecca Loos Opens Up About ‘Horrific’ Trolling She’s Received Following David Beckham’s Netflix Doc

Rebecca Loos has opened up about the trolling she has received following the release of David Beckham’s Netflix documentary.

Back in 2004, David’s ex-PA Rebecca claimed she had engaged in a four-month-long affair with the then-Real Madrid player, in an interview with the now-defunct News Of The World – which Becks blasted at the time as “ludicrous”.

But after the Beckhams discussed the media frenzy surrounding the allegations in the four-part documentary, Rebecca says has been targeted online.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Monday, Rebecca revealed: “I woke up to all these horrific messages on Instagram being called horrible names, awful trolling.

“I had heard about trolling before but never experienced it because 20 years ago we didn’t have social media.”

In the Netflix documentary – which is titled Beckham and aired on the streaming service on 4 October – David discussed the “pressure” the tabloid attention put on his and wife Victoria’s marriage.

“There were some horrible stories that were difficult to… deal with,” he revealed. “It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.”

“There were some days I would wake up and think, ‘How am I gonna go to work, how am I gonna walk onto that training pitch, how am I gonna look as though nothing’s wrong?’

“I felt physically sick every day when I opened my eyes, ‘How am I gonna do this?’”

Victoria added that the story was “a hundred per cent” the “hardest time” in her marriage, which came five years after they tied the knot in 1999.

Now the mother of two sons who are aged 14 and 11, Rebecca said during her GMB interview that she had told them about the documentary and “what had been said and how it made mummy feel”.

She added: “I said, ‘I feel that it’s very unfair, because of the way I’m being treated now, and the bullying I’m getting and the trolling, and I want to say something, and I’m going to do an interview so there might be some media and how do you feel about that?’

“And so my youngest son said, ‘Good for you, mummy. Yes, I would say something too.’”

Rebecca previously aired her thoughts on the Beckham documentary in an interview with the Mail On Sunday last week, accusing the former England captain of “making me look like a liar.”

HuffPost UK previously contacted representatives for David and Victoria Beckham after the interview’s publication, but did not receive responses.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1. Beckham is available to stream on Netflix now.
