Kim Petras Celebrates ‘Incredible Transgender Legends Before Me’ After Historic Grammys Win

Kim Petras took a moment to honour the transgender trailblazers that came before her as she celebrated her first ever Grammy win on Sunday night.

During this year’s Grammys ceremony, Kim and Sam Smith triumphed in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration Unholy, which topped the charts upon its release last year.

Taking to the stage to collect the prize, the German singer and songwriter revealed to the audience that Sam “graciously wanted me to accept this award because I’m the first transgender woman to win this award”.

“I just want to thank all the incredible transgender legends before me, who kicked these doors open for me so I could be here tonight,” Kim said.

She then gave a specific shout-out to the late music producer Sophie, who died in 2021 after an accident.

Kim said of her friend and fellow musician: “She told me this would happen, and always believed in me. Thank you so much for your inspiration, Sophie. I adore you. And your inspiration will forever be in my music.”

Kim went on to give a special mention to Madonna, for her “fight for LGBTQ rights”, and claimed she wouldn’t “be here” without the Queen of Pop or her own mother.

Later in the evening, the Like A Prayer singer returned the favour, by introducing Sam and Kim before their fiery (literally!) performance of Unholy during the show, which featured cameo appearances from RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Gottmik and Violet Chachki.

Madonna’s Iconic VMAs Kiss Almost Included A Completely Different Pop Diva

It’s been almost 20 years since Madonna made pop culture history when she locked lips with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage at the 2003 VMAs.

But it’s now been revealed that the performance almost looked very different – with a whole other diva claiming she was initially supposed to have been involved too.

During a recent interview with E! News, Jennifer Lopez claimed that she met with Madonna and Britney at the Queen of Pop’s home to discuss a group performance.

“I was filming a movie in Canada, and we had met – me, her and Britney — to do it at her home,” she said (via People). “And then I just couldn’t get off the film. So, we couldn’t do it.”

Apparently J-Lo’s loss was Xtina’s gain, though, with the Jenny From The Block singer adding: “They got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it, and I didn’t wind up doing it. I love Madonna. I’m a huge fan. I always have been.”

However, Jen isn’t the only star who’s claimed she was supposed to be part of the iconic number.

Shortly after the performance in 2003, Pink claimed that both she and Gwen Stefani had been approached to be part of the routine.

“It was supposed to be me, Gwen and Britney,” the So What singer reportedly told the Daily Record. “Me and Gwen backed out of it and they got Christina.

“Madonna originally wanted me, Britney and Gwen. But I know how Madonna’s mind works. She was the boss. She was the groom. While everyone else was her 20 years ago. And I am nobody’s bitch.”

Pink later told MTV that “the kiss wasn’t even talked about” when she was approached to perform with Madonna.

“I had one vacation all year, and I was not leaving my vacation to go into a rehearsal studio,” she added. “Which sounds ridiculous.

“But you know, I just said, ‘I can’t be at those rehearsals, but I can learn it for that day, and I’m sure that I’ll be more than capable of doing it.’ ”

Anyone hoping to see Madonna live for themselves can look forward to the pop icon’s upcoming Celebration tour.

The global jaunt will commemorate the Like A Prayer singer’s 40th year in the music industry, and is set to feature hits from across the decades.

Madonna’s eldest daughter Lourdes Leon is breaking into the music scene with the release of her debut single.

On Wednesday, the 25-year-old released Lock & Key, her first ever musical offering, under the moniker Lolahol, which is presumably a nod to her long-held nickname, Lola.

The dream-like song features production from Eartheater – who also directed the accompanying music video – and was co-written by Lourdes herself.

“Why can’t I just lock into a Polly Pocket,” Lola ponders in the song’s intro. “It could all be crystal clear.

“Keep a photo of you in my locket, addicted to the comfort. Till the comforter gets too hot too hot to sleep I’m tossing and tearing.”

Interestingly, the song also appears to include a nod to Lady Gaga, when Lourdes is heard singing “no sleep, next plane, no sleep, make-up, next club, next car, next plane, no sleep, no fear”, mirroring one of the Poker Face singer’s viral interviews.

Last year, Lourdes – who has previously dabbled in dancing and modelling – gave an interview admitting that she did not see herself pursuing a music career in the same vein as her famous mum.

“I can sing. I just don’t care about it,” she told Interview magazine. “Maybe it’s too close to home.”

Last week, Lourdes joined her mum and her five other siblings to celebrate the Grammy-winning star’s 64th birthday with an elaborate party in Siciliy.

She previously appeared in the music video for her mum’s song Celebration, as well as a moving video which was projected during Madonna’s performance of Frozen on her 2020 Madame X tour.

Lourdes is Madonna’s eldest child, and her father is the actor and personal trainer Carlos Leon.

Madonna has five other children: 22-year-old Rocco, whose dad is film director Guy Ritchie, 16-year-olds David and Mercy and nine-year-old twins Stella and Estere, who were born in Malawi and adopted by the Like A Prayer singer as children.

50 Cent Apologises To Madonna After She Accuses Him Of ‘Trying To Humiliate’ Her With Comments About Instagram Pics

50 Cent has apologised to Madonna over comments he made about her recent Instagram pictures.

The Vogue singer made headlines last month with a provocative bedroom photoshoot taken in (and under) her bed.

50 Cent had reshared the snaps, including the one of her under the bed, comparing her to the Wicked Witch of the East from The Wizard of Oz, where Madonna’s legs where photoshopped under a house from film.

He added: “Starz ask me to do a remake, I said only if Madonna is gonna play the role because i need star power and sex appeal in this one.”

In another caption, he wrote: “That’s Madonna under the bed trying to do Like A Virgin at 63. She shot out, if she don’t get her old ass up.”

After his comments caught Madonna’s attention, she issued a scathing response on Instagram.

Posting on her Story, she wrote: “Here is 50 Cent pretending to be my friend. Now you have decided to talk smack about me!

“I guess your new career is getting attention by trying to humiliate others on social media, the least elevated choice you could make as an artist and an adult.

“You’re just jealous she won’t look as good as me or have as much fun when you’re my age! Too bad there are no sour grapes emojis.”

Madonna then posted a video of her with a green alien filter, where she added: “Cheer up, things could be worse, you could be me for instance. Personally, I like the way I look, but there are those that find it hard to appreciate people and things that are different.

“And they try to shame me or humiliate me or make me feel less than because I am not like everyone else.

“But in fact, I cherish my uniqueness and I’ve grown stronger because to be unique is to be rare.”

50 Cent has now issued an apology on Twitter, writing: “I must have hurt Madonna feelings, she went and dug up a old MTV photo from 03. Ok I’m sorry I did not intend to hurt your feelings.

“I don’t benefit from this in anyway I said what I thought when I saw the picture because of where I had seen it before I hope you accept my apology.”

Madonna previously called out Instagram for removing one of the photos from her photoshoot due to the fact that one of her nipples was exposed.

She fumed: “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualised. The nipple that nourishes the baby!

“Can’t a mans nipple be experienced as erotic??!! And what about a woman’s ass which is never censored anywhere.”

Madonna made a memorable appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s US talk show this week, that saw her shocking the host by climbing on his desk in the middle of their interview.

The music icon was on the programme to promote her new concert film Madame X, a live recording of her infamous 2020 tour, which saw her playing at select theatres in place of the usual arenas and stadiums.

Referring to Madonna’s decision to play at smaller venues, the host commented: “You always do stuff that no one’s doing, you zig when people are zagging… but here’s what I was going to ask you…?”

“Did I make any money?” Madonna interrupted. “No I didn’t!”

Jimmy insisted: “I wasn’t going to ask you that! But people take your ideas, you do all these things first, and then people take your ideas and don’t give you credit.”

“Yeah,” Madonna agreed. “And they also don’t do it as good. That sounds really arrogant but it’s kind of true.”

Later, Madonna cited a James Baldwin quote about artists’ role being “to disturb the peace”, which is a mantra throughout her Madame X film.

“I hope that I have disturbed not only your peace this afternoon, but people watching the show,” Madonna explained. “But I mean that in the best way.”

“Yeah, you get in good trouble,” the presenter asked.

“Good trouble?” the Like A Prayer singer questioned.

Unprompted, she then rose out of her chair and climbed on Jimmy’s desk, while he protested and eventually took off his jacket to cover her backside.

“Oh, no one’s going to see anything, my god,” Madonna insisted, lifting the back of her skirt before sitting down for good measure.

“Life is not just about interviewing kiddies, OK?” she added. “Don’t you want to talk to an adult? Let’s have some adult conversation!”

“Is that right? Are you talking to an adult right now?” Jimmy asked.

“I’m not sure… I’m talking to someone who’s… I feel like you’re in sort of conflict right now.”

Madonna’s Madame X tour was generally well-received by critics, though it did hit a few bumps in the road along the way.

Madonna Shows Off Results Of Second Ever Tattoo After Getting Inked On Instagram

Madonna has shared a video of herself getting her second tattoo on Instagram.

Having mostly abstained from body art during her life, the Queen of Pop revealed at the end of last year that she’d decided to have her first tat at the age of 62, having her six children’s initials inked on her wrist.

On Sunday, she revealed on Instagram that she’d decided to go under the needle for a second time, having a red “X” tattooed on her wrist in honour of her most recent album, Madame X.

After drinking a glass of wine in what she said was her attempt at numbing the pain, Madonna told her 15-year-old son David: “Look, I’m going to get another tattoo. It’s not anything different or new, that I was planning on doing, but I thought maybe you’d want to watch. Just for a second.”

“It’s going to be red, blood red” Madonna told the teenage aspiring footballer.

“Because this revolutionary business…” he then said, to which she responded: “Is a bloody business.”

As David cheered her on from the sidelines, Madonna was then heard telling tattoo artist Robbie Ra: “That hurts, oh my god, I really don’t like you right now. [But] even if I complain don’t feel like you have to stop. I’m used to people hurting me, and also I’m used to being in pain.”

“Why do you need a bigger needle?” she asks later in the clip, before adding: “Wait, you’re English? OK, everything’s coming into focus now.”

Showing off the finished tat, she posed saying: “Power to the people.”

The tattooist also posted the same clip on his own Instagram page, writing: “This was nuts!”
