Kerry Katona Shared How Often She Washes Her Bedsheet – And We’ve Got Questions

Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona has revealed how often she washes her bed sheets and it’s safe to say that people have mixed opinions. The mother of five wrote in her weekly OK! column that changing the sheets too often is a “hassle.”

She went on to say that she washes her bed sheets every fortnight.

“I live in a big house with a lot of kids [five], so it’s a hassle. I probably change my sheets every fortnight,” Katona says.

This is perfectly normal for some, whilst other people think you should clean your bed sheets more often.

But what’s the expert opinion on the matter?

How often should we change our sheets?

“Ideally, you should be washing your bed sheets every single week. Every night, the average person sweats at least 200ml of liquid, which naturally seeps through to your duvet,” Martin Seeley, the CEO and sleep expert at MattressNextDay says.

Other studies show that the average bedding has around 20,000 dust mites which can trigger anyone who suffers from allergies, causing them to have a runny nose or congestion.

80% of dust mites are made up of your dead skin, which you naturally produce more of overnight, so ideally you should be washing your bedding at least once a week.

“However, if you tend to get night sweats or get hot flushes, you should wash your bed sheets even more often,” Seeley explains. “If your bedding feels damp or ‘clammy’ in the morning, you should strip them and wash them straight away.”

Seeley adds: “In addition, some medical conditions require that your bed is as clean as it can be with no bacteria or dust to trigger allergies.”

“Suppose you suffer from a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis, or a respiratory condition like asthma. In that case, it may be aggravated by dust mites or bacteria built up in a dirty bed. Therefore, you should wash your sheets as often as possible.”

How should you be cleaning your bedding?

Seeley recommends washing your bedding at 60 degrees temperature for killing germs. But he adds that “you will however need to combine this wash with a good detergent to protect your bedding and keep it extra soft.”

“When possible, you should always air dry your sheets, too. Not only does using a tumble dryer make your bedding more wrinkly, but as one the most energy-intensive appliances in your home, the costliest dryer can cost Brits £175 per year.”

Try to hang your sheets outside, this can allow the creases to naturally fall out. “Plus the ultraviolet rays of the sunlight will remove any bacteria and bleach your sheets, which is extra beneficial for those with white sheets,” Seeley explains.

You should also let your mattress air out for at least 30 minutes in the morning before making your bed.

The expert adds: “This is because dust mites tend to thrive in warmer environments, therefore, letting your mattress air allows it to cool down, decreasing the number of dust mites it attracts.”

Broadcaster Dan Walker ‘Glad To Be Alive’ After Road Accident While Out On His Bike

News anchor Dan Walker has said he feels “glad to be alive” after being involved in a road accident that saw him being knocked off his bike by a motorist.

Dan – best known for his work on BBC Breakfast and, more recently, Channel 5 News – tweeted grisly photos of himself on Monday morning, which showed him in the back of an ambulance with a swollen and bloodied face.

Bit of an accident this morning,” the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant explained. “Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike.”

He insisted that while his face was in “a mess”, this appeared to be the extent of his injuries, and he “[doesn’t] think anything is broken.”

Referring to the paramedics in one of his selfies, he continued: “Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene.”

Dan also joked that the pictures included his attempts at a smile, and voiced his gratitude for the NHS.

Until last year, Dan was known for his six-year stint at the helm of the BBC’s flagship breakfast show, as well as his contributions to the sports show Football Focus.

After leaving Football Focus in 2021, he went on to appear on that year’s series of Strictly, making it all the way to the quarter-finals alongside professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.

He later announced his resignation from BBC Breakfast, and made the jump to Channel 5, where he now fronts the channel’s daily news show.

Ed Sheeran Responds To Claims He Turned Down King Charles’ Coronation Concert

Ed Sheeran has dismissed claims he turned down an offer to perform during a celebratory concert in honour of King Charles’ upcoming coronation.

Last month, it was revealed that a televised concert featuring “global music icons and contemporary stars” will take place on Sunday 7 May, the day after Charles is officially crowned.

Over the weekend, the Mail On Sunday reported that organisers had been hoping that both Ed and fellow chart-topping British singer Adele would take part in the event, but were dealt a “huge blow” when both musicians were unavailable due to previous commitments.

However, a spokesperson for Ed Sheeran has insisted this is not the case.

According to the Metro, a representative for the Shape Of You said that neither he “nor his team” have been “approached” about performing during the show.

Ed is currently scheduled to perform in Arlington, Texas on 6 May, the day before the event, but this is then followed by a week-long gap in tour dates.

HuffPost UK has contacted Adele’s representatives for comment.

The Mail On Sunday has also listed Harry Styles, Lionel Richie and the Spice Girls among those it’s hoped will appear at the concert.

It was previously revealed that musical theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber had been commissioned to create a new anthem in honour of the King’s coronation.

A balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace and a day of volunteering will all form part of celebrations for the coronation between 6 and 8 May, in addition to the star-studded musical event.

Adele Reveals She’s Seen What We’ve All Been Saying About Her In That Viral Super Bowl Meme

Adele has joked that it’s “hard work being a constant meme” after going viral with her appearance at the Super Bowl last week.

When Adele was shown on camera, her laidback attitude and her complete unbothered-ness became an instant meme – but what she probably didn’t bank on was that people would try and lip-read what she was saying.

Many claimed that it looked like the Grammy winner was telling her pals that Rihanna would “have some weed and be fab” ahead of her much-anticipated performance.

Well, it turns out that’s exactly what Adele was saying, which she confirmed on stage during her Vegas residency on Friday night.

“I don’t know what it is about my fucking face, but every time I slip out my house [I become a meme],” she told the audience.

“Maybe it’s because I don’t have any Botox or anything and my face just moves so much, I don’t know what it is.”

“I was saying, ’she’s gonna be fine, she’s gonna, like, have some weed and be fine, but clearly she couldn’t have any weed because she’s pregnant!” Adele added with a cackle.

Great British Bake Off Boss Finally Admits What We Were All Thinking About Last Series

It’s fair to say that the latest series of the Great British Bake Off was met with a somewhat lukewarm response from fans of the long-running show.

Many felt the challenges the bakers were tasked with were too intense, and even the finalists were left struggling to do their best work in the last episode of the series.

Then, of course, there was all that controversy around Bake Off’s first ever “Mexican week” which some critics – particularly overseas – had a few issues with.

Well, it seems even the show’s boss agreed they missed the mark last year.

Richard McKerrow, the chief executive of production company Love Productions, told The Media Podcast: “I’d be the first to hold up our hands and say that I feel that the last series was not our strongest.”

He continued: “You’ve got to take a look at it and go, ‘Shit, [are] the challenges too complicated?’ We’re looking very, very, very hard at making sure that it’s as good a series as it can be.

“You have to take very, very, very good care of it. So when people are criticising either the challenges have become too complicated or whatever, you know, that’s something we take seriously.”

This year’s series will see a new host joining Noel Fielding in the tent, after Matt Lucas announced last year that he was stepping down as co-host after three series.

Richard also revealed that Matt’s successor would be announced within a “few weeks”, with production on the next run getting underway in April.

“We are getting there. And I think well, given that we have to start filming in April, I would hope that we will have some news for you within the next few weeks,” he said.

“The most important thing is to find someone who realises that the real heart of Bake Off is – love the bakers, love the baking. Someone who’s curious and someone who cares and understands.”

A new series of Channel 4’s celebrity version of the Great British Bake Off is set to hit our screens next month.

Reality veteran Gemma Collins, Olympic diver Tom Daley, Loose Women panellist Judi Love and Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson will all be taking part, along with Friends legend David Schwimmer.

Banksy Unveils Powerful New Valentine’s Day Artwork Themed Around Violence Against Women

Banksy has revealed he was behind a powerful new piece of street artwork which centres around domestic violence against women.

The mural in question appeared recently in Margate, Kent, depicting a traditional 1950s housewife with a swollen eye and missing tooth.

In the piece – which is seemingly titled Valentine’s Day Mascara – the abused female figure is shown pushing her husband into a freezer, which sits in front of the wall art.

Posting a photo of his latest creation on his Instagram page, the anonymous street artist zoomed in twice to show a close-up of the woman’s smiling face.

The piece also features a variety of rubbish on the ground in front of the artwork, including a broken white garden chair, a blue crate and an empty beer bottle.

It is set on a white wall backdrop, with users online speculating it is off Grosvenor Place in the seaside Kent town.

Comments about the post have suggested the Bristol-born artist is referencing fighting violence against women on Valentine’s Day.

In December, the elusive graffiti artist announced they had created 50 screenprints which would be sold to raise funds for a charity supporting the people of Ukraine.

Banksy previously confirmed they had spent time in Ukraine after posting a video of an artist spray-painting designs in the war-torn country and speaking to locals.

The artist has managed to conceal his identity despite his work’s popularity, with former Art Attack favourite Neil Buchanan being forced to issue a statement insisting that he is not Bansky back in September 2020.

Caroline Flack’s Family Receive Apology From Metropolitan Police Over Lack Of Records

The Metropolitan Police have apologised to Caroline Flack’s family for not keeping a record about why they charged her with assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended the former Love Island presenter receive a caution following an incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

However, this was overturned after an appeal from the Met Police who instead charged her with assault by beating.

A coroner later ruled she took her own life after learning that prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the force was ordered to apologise to Caroline’s family following a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which found there was not a “record of rationale” to appeal against the CPS decision.

He said: “We have done so and acknowledged the impact that this has had on them.

“Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Ms Flack’s family for their loss.”

After an initial investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) found there was no misconduct, Caroline’s family escalated their concerns to the IOPC, which ordered the Met to reinvestigate complaints relating to the process involved in appealing against the CPS decision.

A spokesman said: “That investigation by the DPS concluded in May 2022 and found that the service provided was acceptable.

“The (Met) identified some learning around using IT systems to record appeal decisions and the use of decision models for cautions, which are being implemented.”

In June last year, Caroline’s family appealed the outcome of the DBS investigation to the IOPC, who carried out a review which did not identify any misconduct but concluded that an officer should receive “reflective practice”.

The spokesman added: “This was about the requirement to review all case material and record a balanced rationale, demonstrating objective decision-making by exploring aggravating and mitigating factors, when appealing a CPS decision.”

The force await recommendations from the IOPC for “organisational learning”, a spokesman confirmed.

Christine Flack, the mother of Caroline, has been contacted for comment.

Adele At Sports Matches Remains Our Favourite Genre Of Meme After Super Bowl Moment Goes Viral

Well, she’s gifted us a moment that has surpassed that at this year’s Super Bowl.

The Someone Like You was in attendance at Sunday’s game in Arizona, and the camera once again caught her serving up an absolute moment.

Wearing a stunning grey blazer, hooped earrings and a camp pair of oversized sunglasses, Adele was seen appearing to tell the men stood either side of her to zip it.

Cameras caught the moment as she waved her hands and gestured to her companions to be quiet, before smacking her lips and staring straight ahead with a full, unbothered pout.

Naturally, the internet had a lot of fun with the clip…

The highly-choreographed performance saw her take fans through some of her biggest hits including Bitch Better Have My Money, Only Girl (In The World), Work and Umbrella in a 12-minute set.

Denise Welch Shuts Down Rumours Of ‘Backstage Feuds’ Among Loose Women Stars

Denise Welch has dismissed speculation about fall-outs behind the scenes of Loose Women.

Over the years, the ITV daytime show has been at the centre of several ‘feud’ reports, which the long-serving panellist has admitted “upsets” her.

Speaking to The Sun, Denise insisted that while her co-stars can get involved in some “very feisty debates”, they are all “great friends”.

“I’m not afraid to be passionate and committed about something, we all have different views, we’re great friends,” she said.

“I do get upset that people are trying to make out that we’re always in some backstage feud. I haven’t fallen out with any of them in 20 years – but we have very feisty debates.”

Denise added: “It’s a show that encourages and appreciates older women, so we’re all going to be a bit set in our ways because we all have our own opinions.”

The former Coronation Street actor is the latest in a line of Loose Women stars to publicly refute claims of drama backstage on the show.

Jane Moore told OK! magazine last year: “In the ad breaks, we’ll say, ‘that [debate] was a bit fiery, wasn’t it?’. [But] I have an issue when people say, ‘Jane Moore and Nadia Sawalha cat fight on Loose Women’. Please, come on, we’re past that.

“They never do it about two blokes on a news programme and it’s so lame. Let’s move on, we’re not in the 1950s anymore. But we take it in our stride and get on with it.”

Meanwhile, anchor Charlene White branded claims about feuds “absolute nonsense”, insisting: “When you’re on the outside looking in and you see all those stories… written about the ladies on the panel, you have an impression of what it’s going to be like. Then you walk into this amazing group of women and realise that everyone’s incredibly supportive.”

Frankie Bridge also called out the double standard when it comes to reporting about the Loose Women panellists.

“I think it’s sad that this doesn’t happen on something like A League of Their Own with a group of men. It’s just not mentioned. And coming from a girl band, it’s exactly the same thing,” she said.

“Everyone always wants women to fight and it’s a real shame that it undoes all the good that Loose Women does.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

Love Island can count another big A-list star among its fans after Lizzo revealed she’s been watching the reality show.

The About Damn Time singer joins the likes of Margot Robbie and Amy Schumer in her fandom of the ITV2 reality show, which is currently airing its ninth series.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night, Lizzo admitted she had been learning British slang while watching Love Island – although there is one phrase that has her pretty confused.

“I watch Love Island,” she told the host. “There’s a lot of ‘mug off’, ‘I feel like a mug’.

“I’m like, what’s a mug? A mug is what you drink coffee out of… How can you feel like a ceramic cup?!” she said.

Last year, Lizzo admitted she’d once put Love Island on to “fall asleep” to and praised contestant Indiyah Polack.

Margot Robbie has previously been among Love Island’s most high-profile fans.

In 2020, the Hollywood actor made headlines when she was caught on camera gleefully meeting former contestants at the Birds Of Prey premiere in London.

After posing for snaps with the group, it was revealed she later slid into Lucie Donlan’s DMs to invite the group back to a post-film event, which later saw them heading back to her apartment for an after-party.

She also themed her 31st birthday party around Love Island, with an outdoor bash inspired by the hit reality show.

Last year, Margot also revealed that she and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn also chatted about the villa drama during filming for the DC film.

She told ITV’s Lorraine: “We probably spoke about Love Island more than we spoke about this film while we were on set.”

The Graham Norton Show airs on Fridays at 10.35pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
