Kylie Minogue’s BRIT Award Performance Has Everyone Making The Same Glasgow Willy Wonka Joke

A sentence we didn’t expect to be writing this evening but here we are – part of Kylie Minogue’s performance at The BRIT Awards 2024 has sent social media into a tailspin thanks to a cursed Willy Wonka experience in Glasgow.

Yup, it’s been a helluva week to live online.

If you have been, I don’t know, having a life in the real world these past few days, you perhaps missed out on the Willy’s Chocolate Experience in Glasgow that led to people phoning the police. Yes. Really.

Arguably the best bit of the entire fiasco was The Unknown, right?

Well, you can imagine the internet’s joy at Kylie Minogue unwittingly bringing out a set of dancers during her medley performance at the end of this year’s BRIT Awards who were all dressed… not dissimilarly to The Unknown.

Thank goodness for X (formerly known as Twitter which we DEFINITELY don’t still call it), as as expected, users delivered the goods.

Just another normal night at The BRITs!

Kylie Minogue Padams Her Way To Another Incredible Accolade Thanks To Grammys Win

Grammys night got off to an exciting start on Sunday, with Kylie Minogue picking up her second award from the Recording Academy of her career, almost 20 years to the day after her first win.

And clearly, that momentum is showing no signs of slowing down, as Kylie has now been awarded the second Grammy of her career.

Before Sunday night’s main broadcast got underway, it was revealed that Padam Padam had been awarded Best Pop Dance Recording, beating stiff competition from David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Troye Sivan.

Kylie did not attend the pre-ceremony, with music producer Lostboy instead accepting the award.

However, she did share a clip of herself celebrating the news on Instagram shortly after her win was announced.

The chart-topping singer previously scooped her first Grammy win in 2004, when her hit Come Into My World secured the Best Dance Recording prize.

Following its release last summer, Padam Padam peaked at number eight in the UK singles chart, her first top 10 since 2010’s All The Lovers, after the song garnered a following on TikTok. Follow-up album Tension hit number one in both the UK and her native Australia.

In the coming weeks, Kylie is due to receive the Icon prize at the Billboard Music Awards, and has also been recognised in the Best International Artist category at this year’s Brits, which will take place next month.

Alison Hammond’s Pure Joy Comes Close To Stealing The Show At Kylie’s Intimate London Gig

Pop superstar Kylie Minogue is still going from strength to strength, 16 albums, 36 years and countless awards, nominations and records-shattered after her musical debut.

And, at a packed-out, intimate gig at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Wednesday evening to celebrate the release of her latest offering, Tension, she received perhaps the most impressive accolade of them all – the endorsement of national treasure, new Bake Off host and queen of people’s hearts, Alison Hammond.

Spotted on a balcony overlooking Kylie as she tore through hits like Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, Spinning Around and recent smash Padam Padam, Alison came close to stealing the show with the sheer amount of joy she was exuding – and the Kylie t-shirt she was seen waving to the crowds below her.

“Alison Hammond waving a Kylie t-shirt at the Kylie gig has restored my joy for the rest of the year,” one fan posted, alongside a video of the momentous occasion.

Another commented that the beloved daytime host’s “real-time reaction to Padam Padam was almost as good as seeing Padam Padam live for the first time.”

Meanwhile, a review of the night for Evening Standard added that Alison’s simple attendance at the gig made for “made for quite the support act.”

Kylie filled the evening with chart-topping hits and fan favourites for plenty of other famous fans who were also in attendance, including Drag Race UK’s Graham Norton and Michelle Visage, as well as Rylan and Alex Scott.

The Love-In Between Kylie Minogue And Hobbycraft Wimbledon Has Officially Made Our Week

With a Padam-ic still sweeping the nation thanks to Kylie Minogue, there’s one part of it that has really warmed our hearts over the last few weeks.

By now, you’ll probably be aware of the phenomenon that is the Australian singer’s latest single Padam Padam, and the many, many memes and remixes it has spawned on social media.

Among them was an especially brilliant one from the team at Hobbycraft in Wimbledon, London.

Using fabric from the crafting store, the gang fabulously recreated the Padam Padam video on TikTok

The video soon blew up, attracting more than 600k views, and coverage on meme accounts like Hunsnet.

At the time, Kylie commented on the video: “YES Hobbycraft! (Is there anything left in the remnant box??!!).”

They responded: “For you we can always find something. You need to pay us a visit.”

Kylie then name-checked the Hobbycraft team during a radio interview

During an appearance on Kiss FM, Kylie gave a special shout-out to the Hobbycraft crew as she discussed the Padam Padam memes with presenter Harriet Rose.

“There’s an amazing one, which was, big up Hobbycraft Wimbledon massive. I mean, hilarious,” Kylie said.

“They committed to this routine, four staff. This is the first time I’ve like said it, I’ve talked about it with my friends, but when they hear this, you did a great job.”

The Hobbycraft Wimbledon massive were stunned by Kylie’s words

They posted a TikTok duet video showing them reacting to Kylie’s comments about their video, which was adorable.

But that isn’t the best bit…

Kylie paid the Hobbycraft crew the ultimate compliment by filming a duet video of her own with them.

“When Hobbycraft Wimbledon goes Padam Padam they go FULL OUT!” she wrote.

“We are living for this,” the team responded, while Hobbycraft’s parent TikTok account also wrote: “This is the duet we’ve been living for. Can we make it a reality in real life?”

Someone get Kylie to Wimbledon ASAP.

Jonathan Ross Left Mortified As Kylie Minogue Responds To Embarrassing ‘Send To All’ Prank

The best thing about Michael McIntyre’s Big Show being back on our screens means we get a brand new instalment of “Send To All” each week, in which the comedian takes a celebrity’s phone and sends a prank message to every contact in.

On Saturday night, it was Jonathan Ross’ turn in the hot seat, with Michael teasing: “For decades, he has interviewed the biggest stars in the world and I can’t wait to get my hands on his star-studded phone book.”

He wasn’t wrong, either, with a number of A-listers sending some rather perplexing responses to Jonathan’s fake message.

But first, the message itself.

Using Jonathan’s phone, Michael sent out a mass text which read: “Hi Doc. Sorry for the late text but the rash is back. Jane says it smells like cabbage and I can barely sit down.

“If you can come round NOW I’ll give you any comic of your choosing.”

After a pause, the host came back to Jonathan’s phone, revealing Shane Richie had attempted as many as five concerned phone calls, while Harry Hill merely enquired: “Red or savoy cabbage?”

Another response read: “Hi Jonathan. I think you might have the wrong number… this is Greg Rusedski. Good luck with everything, though.”

However, the best moment of the segment came when it emerged that Kylie Minogue had replied to Jonathan’s message, causing the talk show host to plead: “Oh, not Kylie! Come on!”

“You should listen to doctor’s advice,” came the Can’t Get You Of My Head singer’s reply, before adding: “Out to the shed, now. I don’t need any comic that badly.”

“Maybe that’s some sort of Australian cure?” Jonathan offered.

Finally, Michael read out a reply from Julian Clary, who commented: “You’ve always smelled like cabbage. It’s nothing new. Try bleach in the bidet, works for me.”

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show continues on Saturday night at 6.50pm on BBC One.

Kylie Minogue Reflects On Infamous Kylie Jenner Lawsuit: ‘It Just Had To Be Done’

Kylie Minogue has reflected on the infamous lawsuit she became embroiled in when Kylie Jenner attempted to trademark their shared first name.

It was reported back in 2016 that the singer had taken issue with the reality star’s plans to trademark the name “Kylie” and become a mononym in the style of Madonna, Cher and Prince on the make-up kits she had become popular for around that time.

The Australian star eventually emerged triumphant in the legal battle, during which the other Kylie was notoriously referred to in court papers as a “secondary reality TV personality”, compared to Ms Minogue, the “internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist”.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday night, the 54-year-old was asked about the lawsuit by a caller.

“When I was named Kylie, I think I met one person older than me called Kylie,” she explained, saying the name was “kind of unusual”.

Kylie added: “I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand so it was just something that had to be done.”

“Yes it was,” agreed Andy Cohen, with Kylie adding: “But let me also say we came to an agreement.”

The host then questioned whether Kylie had been forced to have any contact with Kris Jenner (the other Kylie’s “momager”) over the matter, to which she insisted: “No, but I’d love to meet them.”

In 2018, Kylie admitted she was “upset” that the “secondary reality TV personality” quote had been falsely attributed to her in the press.

“Can you imagine me saying that?” she said at the time. “That was just unfortunate that that is how those lawyers speak.

“So I genuinely hope that it’s understood: That certainly did not come from me.”

Everyone has got their own work hangover stories, but we’ll bet none of them are as good as Steph McGovern’s.

The Packed Lunch presenter has revealed how she once “threw up” in the toilets of 10 Downing Street after a night partying with Kylie Minogue.

Steph recalled how she’d once been sent to No.10 to interview then-prime minister Gordon Brown while she was nursing a hangover from dancing the night away with one of the biggest stars in the world.

The host – who perviously presented the business news on Chris Evans’ drivetime radio show and worked as a producer for political journalist Robert Peston – had been invited to a party in Hyde Park by Chris, which was attended by the pop princess.

But she ended up paying the price the following day when she was sent on a last-minute dispatch to meet the PM.

Speaking on Monday’s edition of Steph’s Packed Lunch, Steph recalled: “Kylie was there, I was literally living my best life. I was drinking, I’d taken the next day off work but obviously as a journalist you can’t take days off if news happens. I got a phone call from Robert Peston. He said, ‘We’ve got an interview with the prime minister in the morning, you need to get it organised but you can’t tell anyone, you need to get a camera man or woman there for me at number 10.’”

Steph continued: “I was hammered. I rang the news desk to organise the cameras. They were like ‘You’re drunk, Steph, you need to go home’.

“When I’d finally organised the camera crew, I put the phone down and was like I’m not going home yet, I’m dancing with Kylie Minogue, this is never going to happen again in my life. So I didn’t go home and ended up going to a big party at Chris Evans’ house.

“He has a guy who works for him he calls Mrs Doubtfire and he [Chris] said ‘I’ll get him to give you a lift in the morning’… So I got dropped off at Downing Street in one of Chris Evans’s spy 100 Ferrari cars and I had to and go this interview with the prime minister.”

Steph, laughingly added: “And I threw up in the loo of Number 10… But still, the interview went well!”

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
