Graham Norton Had The Best Reaction To Beating Piers Morgan At This Year’s NTAs

Earlier this month, both presenters were nominated for Best TV Interview at the National Television Awards, but it was The Graham Norton Show that ended up triumphing over Piers Morgan Uncensored.

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Irish host was asked during a Q&A about beating Piers “especially after he said on the red carpet that there was ‘no competition’” between them.

“I didn’t know that!” Graham said of his fellow nominee’s comment. “I just Zoomed in to accept the award, but it was worth Zooming in to see the expression on Piers Morgan’s face.”

Later in the interview, Graham was asked if he’d ever had Piers on his show, to which he sarcastically responded: “No, funnily enough! And I’ve never been on his! And we’re good.”

However, the five-time Bafta winner was more complimentary about one of his former guests, chart-topping singer Taylor Swift, who he said he “loves”.

“I don’t know how she can be as normal as she is, she seems so regular,” Graham claimed.

After being asked for his take on the British public’s views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Graham went on to share an anecdote about meeting the Duke of Sussex while on a night out with the late Carrie Fisher.

Anneka Rice Causes Confusion After Seemingly Announcing Wrong Winner At The NTAs

The 90s TV personality appeared on stage at the ceremony alongside her Challenge Anneka co-star, Dave the sound man, to present the prize for Best Quiz Game Show.

A video package showing clips from nominated shows Beat the Chasers, In for a Penny, Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel and The 1% Club was played, but things went awry when it came to announcing who had one.

As the camera then cut back to Anneka, she proclaimed: “The 1% Club!”

The audience then began cheering, but as no music played, Anneka quickly realised her mistake.

“No!” she said, before then reading out the list of nominations again.

As she then declared Beat The Chasers as the winner, the show’s host Bradley Walsh appeared to not have realised he’d actually won.

However, as his co-stars headed to collect the prize, he then joined them on stage.

Katie Price Sets The Record Straight Amid Reports Of Split From Fiancé Carl Woods

Katie Price has shut down media speculation about her relationship with fiancé Carl Woods.

Over the weekend, The Sun published an article claiming that the reality star had been overheard at the National Television Awards saying she’d ended things with Carl.

However, posting on her Instagram story on Sunday, Katie insisted that this was not the case.

Alongside a screenshot of the tabloid’s headline “Katie Price dumped fiancé Carl Woods and went on booze bender at the NTAs”, she wrote: “It’s such a shame having such a good night these awful stories about me coming out.”

“In fact, I never went out and said I’ve dumped Carl,” Katie continued. “This is not true, I was actually proud to be with my son Harvey. I wish people would leave me [and] Carl alone.”

Katie attended the NTAs with her 19-year-old son Harvey on Thursday night, where their documentary Katie Price: Harvey & Me had been nominated for an award.

Earlier that week, Carl spoke out to insist that he had never hit Katie, after a man was arrested for physically assaulting her the previous month.

Back in September, the former glamour model was taken to hospital with facial injuries after an alleged physical assault.

A “short time later”, a 32-year-old man was arrested “on suspicion of assault, theft and coercive and controlling behaviour”. The man was later released on bail.

Dismissing rumours about the incident, Carl insisted: “I have remained quiet until now due to the investigation being carried out by the police. However, I have found it so difficult to keep quiet on social media due to the speculation and shocking abuse that I have received.

“Anybody who thinks I hit Katie, you’re completely delusional and have no idea of the reality of the situation. I have never and never would do anything to hurt Katie. The truth will be told.”

Katie is mother to five children, from previous relationships with footballer Dwight Yorke and her ex-husbands Peter Andre and Kieran Hayler.

She and Carl, a car dealer and former Love Island participant, announced their engagement in April 2021, after just under a year of dating.

Joel Dommett’s 12 Best And Silliest NTAs One-Liners From His First Time As Host

Joel Dommett made his debut as the host of the National Television Awards on Thursday night, and he definitely got the thumbs up from us.

For the past two years on The Masked Singer (and spin-off series The Masked Dancer), the comedian has become known for his irreverent and unapologetically cheesy sense of humor, and that’s exactly what he brought to the NTAs stage.

True, his first time hosting the show probably won’t be winning him any awards for edgy or biting comedy in the near future, but for a night like the NTAs – which, let’s face it, has veered close to dull in previous years – Joel got the tone exactly right.

Here are 12 of our favourite silly moments from Joel during his first time hosting…

Joel Dommett on stage at the 2021 NTAs

1. Setting the tone right off the bat during a pre-recorded introductory sketch

“Everything’s going to be NTA-OK. Don’t worry I won’t use that on the night.”

2. Introducing the show with a bit of help from the stars of Love Island

“We are here, live in a real room, with real people – how good does it feel? Welcome to the millions of viewers at home, the hundreds here tonight and my one mum… sat with the cast of Love Island. Toby, hands off.”

3. Giving us some very hard-hitting commentary on the pandemic

“It’s been a huge year for soaps… due to everyone washing their hands more. Sales have been through the roof, like Sally in Coronation Street.”

4. To Ricky Gervais in the audience

“I’m not going to make a joke about you because you’re my hero. And, frankly, I’m scared of you.”

5. Welcoming Sir Trevor McDonald to the stage

“His voice is like a fine wine, or for those who don’t drink, a strong squash.”

6 Playing it cool with JLS

“OMG IRL in front of AC-12, it’s only JLS… JLS will be back at The O2 when they’re performing here later in the year. And so will I, when I’m watching them.”

7. Highlighting some of the year’s more racy TV dramas

“After the break we’ll have best Nude Drama. Oh, New Drama. Stick around to see whether Bridgerton, Des, It’s A Sin or Normal People take home the NTA. Although, to be fair, most of those are nude dramas.”

8. Introducing Bear Grylls

“He’s a fearless daredevil… both his names are things I’m scared of.”

9. On the first ever Authored Documentary category

“Coming up, the inaugural award for Authored Documentary. And during the break, I’m going to Google what all those words mean.”

10. After having to hold up child actor Jude Riordan so he could deliver his acceptance speech

“At least that wasn’t the award Beat The Chasers won.”

11. Welcoming the cast of Love Island to the stage

“Four people who are fresh from the villa… I’ve got a text! Oh, it’s from the producer, it says turn your phone off.”

12 And finally…

“Announcing the winners is a very tall order so we ordered a very tall man. It’s Vernon Kay.”
