Katherine Ryan’s Son Didn’t Quite Have The Reaction She Hoped For After Masked Singer Reveal

One of our favourite things is when a celebrity parent takes part in The Masked Singer, and shares video footage of their stunned kids when they realise who has been under the disguise the whole time.

However, it seems Katherine Ryan’s son was not up for playing ball.

After her unmasking in Saturday night’s episode, the comedian told the Masked Singer panel she would not be telling her children about her involvement in the show, admitting: “You can’t tell my daughter anything because she’d spill it to her whole school. So, she’ll be finding out with everyone else.”

True to her word, Katherine shared footage of her 19-month-old son Fred watching her unmasking – although he didn’t quite give her the reaction she was hoping for.

In the clip, Fred was seen transfixed by the TV, as he watched the end of this week’s Masked Singer.

When the mask came off, she was heard asking, “who’s that?”, to which the toddler adorably repeated: “Mama.”

However, he was then seen walking off soon afterwards, with Katherine joking: “Tough crowd.”

When she was unmasked, Katherine revealed to the Masked Singer panel that she was around eight months pregnant at the time of filming.

“I’ve got like a month left,” she shared. “I have a baby’s foot in my lung at most times. It’s actually harder than I thought.”

Seven characters now remain in the competition, with Steps’ Claire Richards, All Saints singer Natalie Appleton and Busted musician Charlie Simpson all rumoured to be among them.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday night at 7pm on ITV, with two stars set to be sent packing in next week’s episode.

Latest Eliminated Masked Singer Star Reveals Why He Wound Up Being Fined For Doing The Show

Speaking after his elimination, Stephen shared that he actually had to pull out of some scheduled snooker games so he could take part in The Masked Singer, which led to him being slapped with a fine by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.

He explained (via The Guardian): “I do have wildcards to play in some snooker events and I actually pulled out of a couple of events and got fined by the WPBSA for doing it.

“And I couldn’t tell them why because this recording was going on and I couldn’t obviously say why I pulled out … I just said: ‘Look, I can’t play the tournament’.”

“So, yeah, it was, very, very, very strange,” he added. “You’re dying to tell people what you’re doing but you can’t.”

After being unmasked in Sunday’s show, Stephen said he’d agreed to sign up for The Masked Singer as he was a big fan of the show, and picked his own costume as he wanted one that would limit his ability to dance.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday nights at 7pm on ITV.

The Masked Singer Reveals Sporting Legend That Nobody Saw Coming In Latest Unmasking

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of The Masked Singer UK.

The Masked Singer aired its fourth elimination of the series on Saturday night, with a British sporting legend being unmasked.

Fawn, Jacket Potato, Pigeon, Rhino and Rubbish each performed as festival headliners during The Masked Singer Clue Fest week.

But it was Rubbish who got (ahem) dumped from the show after landing in the bottom two of the ITV reality singing contest alongside fellow contestant Jacket Potato.

After the performances, the judges voted to save Jacket Potato and gave their final guesses of who Rubbish could be, with suggestions including The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades, presenter Paddy McGuinness and Olympic cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins.

But none of the four judges guessed it was actually Scottish snooker player Stephen Hendry behind the mask.

Judge Jonathan Ross was the closest as he thought it could be snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan, but he fell slightly short of the mark.

Following his reveal, Stephen said he loved the show and that it was his “guilty pleasure” to watch.

Asked why he decided to take on the challenge, he added: “To try something completely out of my comfort zone.

“I have had the opportunity to do other shows that would have put me in that same ‘uncomfortable’ position, but being completely hidden made it so much easier for me to let loose and get my head around the challenge.”

He also revealed that he chose the overflowing green recycling bin costume as the colours reminded him of a snooker table – and that how it restricted his movement was an added bonus as then he would not be made to dance.

Based on the clues referencing sports, the judges offered up their guesses – with Jonathan thinking Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock could be behind the mask, and singer-songwriter Rita Ora opting for Paddy McGuinness.

Comedian Mo Gilligan thought it might be Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, while TV presenter Davina McCall thought it could be The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades due to the link to rubbish.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1 & ITVX.

This Is Why The Masked Singer Clues Have Gotten Much Harder

If you thought the clues on The Masked Singer had become harder over the last two series, there’s a reason for that.

Show bosses have revealed how they were forced to up their game on their cryptic pointers after too many people guessed Denise Van Outen’s identity in series one.

The former Big Breakfast presenter performed as Fox back in 2020, but her identity was soon rumbled after a specific clue about Denise’s love of collecting teapots that returned plenty of Google results.

Speaking to Daily Star, Derek McLean, who works for production company Bandicoot, said coming up with the clues has been a “massive learning curve” since the show’s debut in the UK.

“We thought it was a great clue and no one would pick up on it. Turns out if you Google ‘Denise Van Outen and teapots’ it’s there in loads of articles,” he said.

“It was a massive learning curve. Everything is findable. If you think you can Google the answer now, it’s not going to be there.

“People might say our clues are tough but we love all the mad guessing.”

He added: “Everyone might want them to be like the quick crossword in The Times but what we are is the cryptic crossword in The Telegraph.”

Meanwhile, producer Dan Nettleton admitted that there are more identities of celebrities “out there” on social media than last year – but there’s also one that no-one seems to have yet cracked.

“People are miles away from guessing it,” he teased.

Traffic Cone, Rockhopper, Robobunny, Panda, Mushroom, Firework and Doughnuts all remain in the competition, with the likes of Natalie Imbruglia, Charlotte Church, Michelle Williams and Markus Feehily all rumoured to be behind those masks.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.

The Masked Singer Reveals Keane’s Tom Chaplin Behind Poodle Mask

Keane frontman Tom Chaplin has become the latest celebrity to be unmasked on The Masked Singer.

The indie rocker was revealed to be the performer behind Poodle on the surreal ITV show on Saturday night.

Tom had found himself in the bottom two against fellow contestant Robobunny after performing Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

While Tom’s name had been circulating on social media over the last few weeks, none of the judging panel – made up of Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan – were able to correctly guess his identity.

Their guesses included singer Michael Bublé, footballer Peter Crouch and TV presenter Rylan Clark.

Tom described the panel’s guesses as “hopeless”, saying: “Amongst the guesses were Snoop Dogg, Grayson Perry and a vague suggestion that I simply must be a drag queen.

“I was kind of flattered that they eventually got stuck on Mika, who’s a great singer and performer.

“I have to admit to being surprised that Jonathan didn’t have an inkling it was me, especially given that I must have been on his TV show several times over the years.”

After being unmasked, Tom revealed he had chosen to sing Unwritten because Keane had beaten Natasha to the 2005 Brit Award for best breakthrough act.

Tom rose to fame with Keane when they released their debut album Hopes And Fears in 2004, which reached number one.

The band reached three further chart-topping albums, with their latest, Cause And Effect, reaching number two in 2019.

Their hits include Somewhere Only We Know, Bedshaped, Everybody’s Changing and Is It Any Wonder?

Tom said appearing on The Masked Singer had been “exhilarating, terrifying and confusing – it has been a total blast”.

He also explained his wife Natalie was the reason behind his choice of outfit.

“We love this show and she said that if you get offered this show, if you can be a Poodle, you have to do it. She loves Poodles more than human beings.”

Singer Will Young, M People’s Heather Small, former tennis player Pat Cash and broadcaster Gloria Hunniford have already been unmasked on the show.

Traffic Cone, Rockhopper, Robobunny, Panda, Mushroom, Firework and Doughnuts all remain in the competition.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
