Graham Norton Takes Aim At Matt Hancock In Savage Comedy Monologue

“We’ve got a great show for you tonight,” the host began, joking: “I tell you, I couldn’t be more excited than if I was a maggot about to crawl into Matt Hancock’s ear.”

Flashing up a picture of Hancock arriving in Australia, Graham continued: “Do you think, has Hancock forgotten he’s got a job as an MP? I mean, I suppose it’s possible. For months, he had forgotten he was married.”

Graham concluded: “This here is the endless jungle Matt Hancock will be staying in. Dense and incredibly thick – just two of the things producers have called him.

“Personally, I think I speak for the nation when I say, ‘Matt Hancock should be given the sack’. And when he’s finished eating that, the testicles and penis.”

Hancock served as health secretary under former prime minister Boris Johnson throughout the early stages of the pandemic, but was eventually forced to resign when it emerged he’d broken Covid restrictions while conducting an extra-marital affair with an aide.

He is still the MP for West Suffolk, but was suspended from the Tory party shortly after it was first reported he’d be appearing in the jungle.

I’m A Celebrity returns on Sunday night at 9pm on ITV.

Nadine Dorries Pokes Fun At David Cameron’s New Look

Culture secretary Nadine Dorries has issued a warning about buying tickets from touts – by tweeting a viral photo of former prime minister David Cameron.

The photo quickly became the basis of a meme on social media, with many joking the outfit made Cameron look like the kind of shady character you might find at a pub or car boot sale.

And Cabinet minister Dorries, who once described her one-time party leader as an “arrogant posh boy”, joined in the fun.

She wrote: “Whether it’s a major music festival, sporting event or concert, it’s important that people pay a fair price to see the events they love. Please remain vigilant when considering to buy from ticket touts. Guidance is available if you are unsure.”

Last week, Dorries accused a Tory MP who claims to have faced “intimidation” from their party of “attention-seeking behaviour”.

Many pointed out this was a comment made by the same politician who once appeared on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here and ate ostrich anus on TV.

In any case, Dorries appeared to be going with the consensus in her ribbing.

Last year, Cameron was embroiled in controversy over his intense lobbying for collapsed finance firm Greensill Capital – which was laid bare in 45 emails, texts and WhatsApp messages to ministers and officials.

I’m A Celebrity Castle In Security Breach After Intruder Removed From Set

An intruder was removed from the set of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after a security breach at the castle, ITV has said.

It is understood the intrusion happened earlier in the week, before adverse weather conditions forced the show to pre-record an episode on Friday as Storm Arwen battered the UK with winds as high as 98mph.

A statement from the programme said: “A security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the location with immediate effect.

“The safety of both our celebrities and our production crew remains our primary concern.”

It has been an eventful first week at Gwrych Castle in North Wales, where the programme is being filmed for a second year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday Richard Madeley announced he was leaving the show after he was taken to hospital as a precaution when he fell ill in the early hours of the morning.

The TV star later said he felt “fit as a fiddle” and was “gutted” that Covid restrictions meant he was not able to return to the show.

Friday’s episode of the ITV series was the first to be pre-recorded due to the weather conditions.

Co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly recorded their links early in the evening as part of “precautionary measures” put in place by ITV following severe storm warnings.

The duo posted a video from outside the castle ahead of the show, with the wind whipping and roaring in the background.

“You’ve probably heard we’ve had to record the show a bit earlier tonight because of the winds here at Storm Arwen,” said Donnelly.

“It’s bad, isn’t it, it’s really windy. You can hear it, it’s rattling the tent, it might blow this away, so we’ve got to get it done and get out of here,” said McPartlin.

“It’s due to get worse later so everyone is afraid that the satellite is going to go down and all of that, so it’s a bit risky to do a live show, so we’re going to have to do it recorded tonight, which is the first time we’ve ever done that,” added Donnelly.

He said: “It’s very, very windy but even worse than that it was lentils for lunch, so Ant is a bit windy as well.”

I’m A Celebrity Pre-Recorded For First Time Ever Due To Storm Arwen

Friday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was pre-recorded for the first time ever due to adverse weather conditions.

Co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly recorded their links early in the evening as part of “precautionary measures” put in place by ITV following severe storm weather warnings.

It comes as Storm Arwen battered the UK with winds as high as 90mph.

The duo posted a video from outside Gwrych Castle in Wales ahead of the show, with the wind whipping and roaring in the background.

“You’ve probably heard we’ve had to record the show a bit earlier tonight because of the winds here at Storm Arwen,” said Dec.

“It’s bad isn’t it, it’s really windy. You can hear it, it’s rattling the tent, it might blow this away, so we’ve got to get it done and get out of here,” said Ant.

“It’s due to get worse later so everyone is afraid that the satellite is gonna go down and all of that, so it’s a bit risky to do a live show, so we’re going to have to do it recorded tonight, which is the first time we’ve ever done that,” said Dec.

He added: “It’s very, very windy but even worse than that it was lentils for lunch, so Ant is a bit windy as well.”

“Sorry guys, it’s just adding to the mayhem,” added Ant.

A spokesperson for I’m A Celebrity said the celebrities were being kept inside the castle and that contingencies were in place to ensure their safety.

“Tonight’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be broadcast as a pre-recorded show rather than live due to the developing Storm Arwen and precautionary measures we’re putting into place on production,” they said.

“Our celebrities will remain inside the castle, which is secure, and we have contingencies in place to cover all weather scenarios to ensure the safety of our cast and crew.”

The majority of the UK was blanketed by weather warnings on Friday night and into Saturday as the storm arrived.

A rare red warning stretched along the east coast from Middlesbrough to beyond Aberdeen – the first maximum alert to be issued since Storm Dennis in February 2020.

The warning, which is the highest the Met Office issues, means the impact is likely to be severe, with the potential for damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Castle Vandalised By Children Ahead Of New Series

The Welsh castle being used as the site for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has been vandalised ahead of the new series, it has been revealed.

The reality show is returning to Gwrych Castle for a second successive year after the pandemic forced producers to abandon plans to use the usual Australian base in 2020.

A member of castle staff revealed that three children were seen “demolishing the battlements” on Sunday, shortly before the site was handed over to ITV.

The worker told the PA news agency he was “astonished”, adding: “Thankfully nobody was injured, but part of the Grade l-listed building was damaged.”

The castle, located near Abergele in North Wales, also posted about the incident on Twitter, along with a photo showing bricks knocked out of place from the historic wall.

A message posted on the castle’s Twitter account said: “Our final day reminded us how far we’ve come, but also how much we have left to do over the coming years.

“It was a huge shame to see that somebody damaged one of the restored battlements on the east lawn on our last day.

“This goes to show the huge task we have ahead of us!”

The site was taken over by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust in 2018, which said it wanted to make the estate safe and secure.

The trust said the castle has previously experienced arson attacks, vandalism and theft.

A representative for the trust said: “We believe that it’s important that people are aware that even in the 21st century, historical landmarks are still being damaged and left to deteriorate.”

The castle confirmed it closed to the public on Sunday, due to hosting the ITV programme, and would not reopen until 2022.

The move from Australia to the Welsh location will help the ongoing restoration of the castle, according to Mark Baker, chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will return to host the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity.

Ant previously said he would be “very happy” for the programme to return to Wales.

The last series of the programme was won by podcast host Giovanna Fletcher.
