Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan Admits Show Has Become Less ‘Free’ Over The Years

Long-serving Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan has opened up about how she feels the show has become less “free” over the years.

Coleen joined the ITV daytime show more than 20 years ago, and in that time has become one of its staple panellists.

In a new interview with the podcast Secure The Insecure, the former Celebrity Big Brother winner reflected on how Loose Women has had to adapt over the years as the “world has changed”.

“It was free,” Coleen recalled of her early days on Loose Women. “It’s not free now. It’s a very different show, because the world has changed – and I have to say [it’s changed] for the better in a lot of respects. You cannot get away with certain things now.

“However, it was a much easier show to do in those days.”

She continued: “Everything we discuss in the [pre-show] meetings, all our opinions and all of that – they all have to go up to legal to be looked over, to make sure that we’re hopefully not going to offend.

“You very much self-edit on that show now, and that’s because of social media as well.”

Coleen added that she often finds herself holding back her “genuine” opinions due to concerns about a backlash, which she said is a “shame”.

“I would like to think we can all have opinions and that doesn’t warrant somebody being nasty to you just because they don’t agree,” Coleen added, noting: “But that’s the world we live in now.”

During her time on Loose Women, Coleen has come under fire on several occasions.

Back in 2007, she sparked controversy when she claimed she was not in favour of same-sex couples adopting children, and eight years later made headlines when she defended a bakery that had been found guilty of discrimination for refusing to make a cake with a message in support of marriage equality.

“What about if somebody walked in and said I want a cake and I want the whole Islamic State on it and how I support it and how I support them killing our people?” Coleen questioned. “Because it’s a business, do they have to make it?”

However, her biggest Loose Women controversy came in 2018, when she clashed with her former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Kim Woodburn during a segment that was intended for them to put their differences behind them.

The incident sparked thousands of complaints to Ofcom, with Coleen taking an extended break from Loose Women at the time due to a barrage of online abuse.

Vin Diesel Makes Very Public Plea For ‘Little Brother’ Dwayne Johnson To Return To Fast & Furious

Vin Diesel and The Rock in the fifth Fast & Furious film

Vin Diesel has launched a very public appeal urging former co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to return to the Fast & Furious franchise for its upcoming 10th film.

The two actors have not exactly always seen eye-to-eye while making the street-racing action series, with the two-part 10th instalment slated for release in 2023.

On Sunday night, Vin posted a snap of himself and The Rock on Instagram, asking his “little brother” to return as agent Luke Hobbs for one last outing.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” he began. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10.

“As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfil my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10!”

He continued: “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfil your destiny.”

The Rock is yet to respond to Vin Diesel’s very extra Instagram post, but has posted on the site since it was uploaded, to promote his new film Red Notice.

Earlier this year, Vin – a producer on Fast & Furious, as well as one of its stars – made headlines when he appeared to try and take credit for The Rock’s performance in the fifth film.

He claimed: “My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be.

“As a producer to say, ‘Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know’ – Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks.

“That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love.

“Not Fellini-esque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”

Responding to his former co-star’s comments a few weeks later, Dwayne said he “laughed hard” when he heard them.

“I laughed and I laughed hard,” the former WWE star told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that.”

He also reiterated that he would not be returning to the franchise, after bowing out in the eighth film.

Dwayne had previously expressed his frustration with male co-stars during the production of The Fate Of The Furious in 2016, with many speculating he was referring to Vin Diesel

“Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he said at the time.

“The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.”

Jemima Khan Says She Stopped Working On The Crown Due To Depiction Of Princess Diana

Screenwriter and journalist Jemima Khan has revealed she stopped working on the behind-the-scenes team of The Crown over concerns about its depiction of Princess Diana.

Jemima – who knew Princess Diana personally – was invited by the Netflix drama’s creator Peter Morgan to help pen its forthcoming fifth season, which will depict the late Princess of Wales’ final years.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, she noted that it was “really important to me that the final years of my friend’s life be portrayed accurately and with compassion, as has not always happened in the past”.

She explained: “In 2019, Peter Morgan asked me to co-write on the fifth series of The Crown, particularly those episodes which concerned Princess Diana’s last years before she died.

“After a great deal of thought, having never spoken publicly about any of this before, I decided to contribute.”

However, after working on The Crown for around five months, Jemima noted that she eventually “realised that particular storyline would not necessarily be told as respectfully or compassionately as I had hoped” and bowed out.

Jemima Khan had concerns about how Diana will be portrayed in the upcoming season of The Crown

“[I] requested that all my contributions be removed from the series and I declined a credit,” she added.

A spokesperson for The Crown said (via the Standard): “Jemima Khan has been a friend, fan and a vocal public supporter of The Crown since season one.

“She has been part of a wide network of well-informed and varied sources who have provided extensive background information to our writers and research team — providing context for the drama that is The Crown. She has never been contracted as a writer on the series.”

Elizabeth Debicki will be playing Princess Diana in the upcoming fifth season of The Crown, taking over from Emma Corrin, who won a Golden Globe for their performance in the role earlier this year.

Strictly’s AJ Odudu Gives Cryptic Response When Grilled About Kai Widdrington Romance Rumours

Those romance rumours surrounding Strictly Come Dancing favourites AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington definitely aren’t going anywhere – with the TV presenter giving a cryptic response when asked about the speculation once again.

AJ told PA Media: “I find it exciting that everyone’s interested in us enough to take note of all of these things.

“The way I see it is, everyone can see how well we’re getting on and how hard we’re working in order to try our best each and every week to put in a solid performance.”

After being asked outright whether there was any truth to the rumours, she responded: “Well, one thing that is definitely for sure is, we are doing a lot of dancing.”

With the single stars repeatedly being asked about reports they’re more than just dance partners in interviews, even Claudia Winkleman got in on the fun during last week’s Halloween special, urging them to kiss live on air.

“It’s all just a bit of fun, isn’t it?” AJ told PA of the continued rumours. “I mean, at the end of the day, me and Kai are just focused on the Strictly experience as a whole, and we’re just focused on dancing and putting our best performance forward each and every week.

“So none of that stuff bogs us down at all. We don’t have time to be pressed to be totally honest with you. And Claudia is so lovely, and is so kind to us each and every week, so it’s all fun and games.”

Saturday night’s live show saw AJ and Kai topping the leaderboard for the second time, with a near-perfect score of 39 points.

Eight People Dead After Crowd Surge At Astroworld Festival In Texas

PA

Eight people have died in an accident at Astroworld festival

At least eight people have died and numerous others were injured in what officials described as a surge of the crowd at the Astroworld music festival in Houston, Texas while rapper Travis Scott was performing.

Officials declared a “mass casualty incident” just after 9pm local time on Friday during the festival, where an estimated 50,000 people were in attendance, Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena told reporters at a news conference.

“The crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, and that caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries,” the fire chief said.

“People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic.”

The show was called off shortly thereafter.

The fire chief said “scores of individuals” were injured in the incident. Officials transported 17 people to hospitals, including 11 who were in cardiac arrest, Mr Pena said.

Many people were also treated at the scene at NRG Park, where a field hospital had been set up. About 300 people were examined at that site throughout the day, he said.

Astroworld is a two-day music festival that was scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday in Houston, Texas. The event was sold out, according to the Astroworld website. Saturday’s performances have been cancelled.

Drake joined Travis Scott on-stage at the concert — which was live-streamed by Apple Music — and posted photos to Instagram after the performance.

Event promoters had arranged for medical units to be on scene at the festival, however once the crowd surge began, those units were “quickly overwhelmed,” Mr Pena said.

In a video posted to social media, Travis Scott could be seen stopping the concert at one point and asking for aid for someone in the audience: “Security, somebody help real quick.”

Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite was near the front of the crowd and said it seemed the surge “happened all at once”.

“Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode,” Mr Satterwhite said.

“And so we immediately started doing CPR, and moving people right then, and that’s when I went and met with the promoters, and Live Nation, and they agreed to end early in the interest of public safety.”

Mr Pena said officials did not immediately know the causes of death for the eight people who died.

A medical examiner would investigate. It was not clear whether all eight who died were among the 17 that had been transported to hospitals. The deceased had not been identified as of early Saturday.

Officials set up a reunification centre at a hotel for family members who had not been able to reach relatives who had been in attendance at the event.

Authorities were looking to connect families with festival-goers who were transported to the hospital, “some as young as 10” years old, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner called for calm and urged people not to jump to conclusions as to what caused the surge.

“I think it’s very important that none of us speculate. Nobody has all the answers tonight,” Mr Finner said.

“We’re going to do an investigation and find out because it’s not fair to the producers, to anybody else involved, until we determine what happened, what caused the surge,” he said. “We don’t know, but we will find out.”

Black Panther Sequel Shuts Down Production As Letitia Wright Recovers From Injury

via Associated Press

Disney has temporarily shut down the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever so the film’s star, Letitia Wright, can recover from an injury.

Letitia sustained the unspecified injury in late August while on a stunt rig on location in Boston, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although Marvel Studios said at that time that the former Black Mirror star’s injury would not affect the shooting schedule, she has been in London recovering since the accident while production continued around her character.

There is no word on how long shooting will be delayed, but the film’s release date is still set for 8 July 2022.

Letitia’s character Shuri – the sister of T’Challa – is thought to be taking centre stage in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, following the death of Chadwick Boseman in August 2020.

Other cast members from the first film including Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett will be returning for the follow-up alongside Letitia, with I May Destroy You star Michaela Coel also joining the cast of Wakanda Forever.

Last month, Letitia Wright was forced to speak out when she come under fire following accusations she’d been spreading anti-vaccine views on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

She denied the accusations, stating: “The report spoke about my conduct on the set of Black Panther 2. I honestly assert that this was completely untrue.”

Letitia was previously criticised for retweeting a controversial video by vaccine skeptic Tomi Arayomi, who said that fear was killing people, not Covid-19.

Billy Porter Apologises To Harry Styles After Vogue Dress Comments: ‘It’s Not About You’

Billy Porter at the Academy Awards in 2019

The Pose star went on to suggest that he “personally changed the game” for men choosing to embrace skirts and dresses as part of their wardrobe.

However, it seems he’s now had something of a change of heart.

Apologising to the former One Direction star during an interview on Stephen Colbert’s US talk show, Billy said: “Harry Styles, I apologise to you for having your name in my mouth.

“It’s not about you. The conversation is not about you. The conversation is actually deeper than that. It is about the systems of oppression and erasure of people of colour who contribute to the culture.”

He added: “I’m sorry, Harry. I didn’t mean no harm. I’m a gay man. We like Harry Styles, he’s cute!”

Alongside his photo-shoot, Harry told Vogue last year that he thought “clothes are there to experiment with”, with the majority of his fans and peers applauding the cover.

There was a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the cover from certain right-wing critics, though.

This included US conservative pundit Candace Owens, whose comment that she wanted to “bring back manly men” inspired a cheeky response from Harry himself.

ABBA Voyage: First Trailer For Unique Hologram Live Show Looks All Kinds Of Epic

ABBA have unveiled the trailer for their upcoming Voyage concert experience, and we’re relieved to say it looks out of this world.

Having teased fans for the last three years, ABBA finally confirmed earlier this year that not only would they be launching a unique residency in London in 2022, they’d also be dropping their first album of new material in 40 years.

Dubbed ABBA Voyage, the Swedish band’s “concert experience” will take place at a specially-constructed arena in East London, and will feature digital recreations of all four members performing their old favourites (as well as recent hits I Still Have Faith In You and Don’t Shut Me Down).

Explaining how it all works, producer Ludvig Andersson (yes, Benny’s son) previously explained: “Agnetha, Frida, Benny and Björn got on a stage in front of 160 cameras and almost as many VFX geniuses and they performed every song in this show to perfection over five weeks, capturing every mannerism, every emotion.

“When you see this show it is not a ‘version of’, or a ‘copy of’, it is actually them.”

While fans have long been curious about exactly how the so-called ABBAtars would look in motion, the first trailer for Voyage was released on Thursday morning, and the whole thing just looks incredible.

ABBA Voyage

The ABBAtars have been seen in action for the first time, and we can’t wait to see more

Accompanied by the ABBA classic Summer Night City, all four ABBAtars are seen performing in the 20-second clip, while dressed in neon-inspired outfits and surrounded by colourful lights.

ABBA Voyage will launch in May 2022, with tickets available until the following December.

And if the sight of the ABBAtars in motion has got you hungry for more, you’ll be excited to know that ABBA’s ninth album (also named Voyage) is released on this Friday (5 November).

Disney Just Gifted Us The First Tear-Jerking Christmas Ad Of The Festive Season

While it may feel a little too early to mention the ‘C’ word yet (sorry Mariah Carey), retailers are already trying to get us in the festive spirit in a bid for us to spend our Christmas cash.

Disney has become one of the first major brands to release their Yuletide ad, and we’ll admit, it could warm even the Grinch’s cold heart.

Entitled The Stepdad, it tells the story of a man called Mike moving in with his new partner Nicole’s family and his struggle to bond with her two young children, Max and Ella.

The ad focuses on a precious storybook filled with Disney and Pixar characters, which was given to Max by his father.

As Mike becomes accepted by the children, he is eventually able to make the stories on the book come to life.

Disney

The 2021 Disney Christmas advert has been released

The ad makes reference to a number of films under the Disney umbrella, including Moana, Toy Story, Spider-Man, Black Panther Star Wars and Frozen.

And eagle-eyed viewers may have also spotted that the new clip serves as a continuation of the 2020 advert, with the mother Nicole being the same young girl who was given the stuffed Mickey Mouse in last year’s promotional film.

Disney

The Step Dad tells the tale of Mike’s journey to bond with his new family

The 2021 ad has been soundtracked by Gregory Porter with his original charity track Love Runs Deeper.

The animation short also supports children’s charity Make-A-Wish, as part of Disney’s festive retail campaign, From Our Family To Yours.

Love Runs Deeper will be available for download from Wednesday, with 100% of the proceeds between now and the end of the year going to Make-A-Wish.

Kelly Brook Claims She Was ‘Shut Down’ By Idris Elba After ‘Embarrassing’ Party Encounter

HGL via Getty Images

Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook has revealed she was “shut down” by Idris Elba after trying to charm him at a party.

Speaking on her Heart radio show, Kelly admitted she’d been “taken aback” when she spotted the Luther star at an event back in 2014, and even ended up impersonating a bartender so she’d have a reason to speak to him.

“I was pretty tipsy, and I saw him, and like most women, was taken aback,” she explained.

“And I went behind the bar and I started pretending I worked there, and asked him if he wanted a drink.”

After going as far as making Idris a cocktail, the former Masked Dancer contestant said she woke up the next morning and slid into the actor’s DMs to try and clarify what happened the night before, joking: “I can’t believe I’m telling this story!”

Idris sent her a polite reply, telling her the cocktail was “awful” but it’s the “thought that counts though, babe”.

Kelly added: “I said, ’Oh gosh, no, really well at least it looked pretty. Nice to meet you, by the way. I have a really bad hangover”.

“He went, ‘Haha! Just have a lie in,’ and that was it. That was the last I heard from him! How embarrassing. I got the message; he shut me down.”

However, this is far from Kelly’s only embarrassing A-list encounter.

Last year, the former model told of how her gas got the better of her during a dinner party at Madonna’s house, where Gwyneth Paltrow, Jason Bateman and Guy Ritchie were also in attendance.

And trust us, she left no detail spared.

“[Madonna] just kind of , she just turned her head away because obviously it went straight up her nose,” Kelly recalled. “It was like something had crawled up there and died.”

Lovely.
