The Masked Singer Reveals Keane’s Tom Chaplin Behind Poodle Mask

Keane frontman Tom Chaplin has become the latest celebrity to be unmasked on The Masked Singer.

The indie rocker was revealed to be the performer behind Poodle on the surreal ITV show on Saturday night.

Tom had found himself in the bottom two against fellow contestant Robobunny after performing Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

While Tom’s name had been circulating on social media over the last few weeks, none of the judging panel – made up of Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan – were able to correctly guess his identity.

Their guesses included singer Michael Bublé, footballer Peter Crouch and TV presenter Rylan Clark.

Tom described the panel’s guesses as “hopeless”, saying: “Amongst the guesses were Snoop Dogg, Grayson Perry and a vague suggestion that I simply must be a drag queen.

“I was kind of flattered that they eventually got stuck on Mika, who’s a great singer and performer.

“I have to admit to being surprised that Jonathan didn’t have an inkling it was me, especially given that I must have been on his TV show several times over the years.”

After being unmasked, Tom revealed he had chosen to sing Unwritten because Keane had beaten Natasha to the 2005 Brit Award for best breakthrough act.

Tom rose to fame with Keane when they released their debut album Hopes And Fears in 2004, which reached number one.

The band reached three further chart-topping albums, with their latest, Cause And Effect, reaching number two in 2019.

Their hits include Somewhere Only We Know, Bedshaped, Everybody’s Changing and Is It Any Wonder?

Tom said appearing on The Masked Singer had been “exhilarating, terrifying and confusing – it has been a total blast”.

He also explained his wife Natalie was the reason behind his choice of outfit.

“We love this show and she said that if you get offered this show, if you can be a Poodle, you have to do it. She loves Poodles more than human beings.”

Singer Will Young, M People’s Heather Small, former tennis player Pat Cash and broadcaster Gloria Hunniford have already been unmasked on the show.

Traffic Cone, Rockhopper, Robobunny, Panda, Mushroom, Firework and Doughnuts all remain in the competition.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.

Katie Price Arrested On Suspicion Of Breaching Restraining Order

Katie Price could face jail after she was arrested on suspicion of breaching a restraining order.

Police were called to the Sussex home of the former glamour model, who was known professionally as Jordan, on Friday.

The Sun reported Price, 43, had sent an abusive message to her ex-husband Kieran Hayler and his fiancee, Michelle Penticost.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “At 5.45pm on Friday (January 21) police responded to a report that a suspect had breached their restraining order.

“Officers arrested a woman in her 40s who has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.”

Price was banned from contacting Penticost in 2019 under the terms of a five-year restraining order.

She was fined hundreds of pounds for hurling a foul-mouthed “tirade of abuse” at her during a row in a school playground.

She was driving to visit a nearby friend in Sussex when the crash happened at about 6.20am on September 28.

Her representative has been contacted for comment.

Adele ‘Overwhelmed’ By The ‘Best Fans In The World’ After Postponing Vegas Residency

Adele says she has been “overwhelmed” by the support of “best fans in the world” after being forced to postpone her Las Vegas residency.

The Easy On Me singer tearfully announced that her show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace “ain’t ready”, less than 24 hours before she was due to take to the stage for the first time.

After her emotional video addressing the news made headlines across the globe, Adele acknowledged the “graciousness and love” she had been shown in response to the unfortunate decision.

“I have the best fans in the world!” she wrote on social media.

“Your graciousness and love tonight is overwhelming! Thank you.”

Adele previously explained the show was not ready having been “absolutely destroyed” by delivery delays and coronavirus.

“Half my team have Covid and it’s been impossible to finish the show,” she said.

The Weekends With Adele series was announced last November, with the singer scheduled to perform two shows every weekend until April.

Tickets ranged from $85 (£60) to $685 (£500), and Adele was reportedly set to make more than £500,000 per performance.

The residency would have marked the first time Adele had performed live shows in five years.

The 33-year-old singer said she had been “awake for 30 hours” trying to rescue the production, but had simply “run out of time”.

Adele also apologised to fans who had already arrived in Las Vegas for the opening weekend.

“I’m sorry, it’s last minute. I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s travelled again.”

The residency is set to be rescheduled, with dates announced in due course.

Vicky McClure Put On The Spot Over Viral Boris Johnson Video And Her Response Was Classic Line Of Duty

The actor, who plays DI Kate Fleming in the hit BBC cop drama, appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday when conversation turned to the video from campaign group Led By Donkeys, which went viral earlier this week.

In this altered clip, Superintendent Hastings, DI Fleming and DI Arnott put the prime minister on the spot over the parties held in Downing Street during Covid restrictions, accusing him of thinking he’s “above the law” and telling him “the party’s over”.

There had been speculation Vicky and co-stars Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston had contributed extra lines to make the clip appear more realistic.

Addressing the video on his chat show, Graham said to Vicky: “You’ve been viral all week with the Line of Duty spoof where you’re interrogating Boris Johnson. Did you know that was coming out?”

“I can’t confirm or deny anything,” Vicky replied with a smirk.

As Graham said it had “gone gangbusters” and was “everywhere”, Vicky said: “Yes, I’ve watched it,” before nodding and laughing.

Led By Donkeys, who are known for their powerful online campaigns against the government, had previously said that they too could “neither confirm nor deny” if the Line Of Duty trio were involved in the making of the clip.

And Vicky’s refusal to offer a definitive answer on the matter is definitely putting us in mind of a particular scene from the show:

The ‘bring your own booze’ party held at No. 10 in April 2020 is currently the subject of an investigation – along with a host of other alleged gatherings at Downing Street – by civil servant Sue Gray.

Johnson has previously admitted attending the April 2020 party, but told the House Of Commons he believed he was attending a work event.

The Metropolitan Police have so far refused to investigate the allegations of parties in Downing Street, explaining they will only look into the claims if Sue Gray finds criminal evidence in her inquiry.

Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno Just Gave Disney Its First Ever UK Number One

Disney’s latest film Encanto has officially made chart history, after a song from its soundtrack reached number one in the UK.

Encanto arrived in cinemas towards the end of the last year, and was made available to stream on Disney+ over the Christmas period.

In the weeks since, songs from the film’s soundtrack – written by Hamilton and In The Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda – have been slowly climbing up the chart, with We Don’t Talk About Bruno finally hitting number one this week.

The Official Charts Company confirmed on Friday evening that the group song We Don’t Talk About Bruno – performed by Rhenzy Feliz, Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, and Carolina Gaitan – is the first ever original Disney song to top the UK singles chart.

Two additional songs from the soundtrack are also in the top 20 this week, with opening number The Family Madrigal at number 15 and Surface Pressure hitting a new peak at number five.

Encanto is the 60th film released by Walt Disney Animation Studios, which has had chart success in the last decade with songs from Frozen and its sequel.

Let It Go was the highest-performing song from the franchise, peaking at number 11 in the UK, with For The First Time In Forever, Do You Want To Build A Snowman? and Into The Known also peaking within the top 40.
