Caroline Flack’s Family Receive Apology From Metropolitan Police Over Lack Of Records

The Metropolitan Police have apologised to Caroline Flack’s family for not keeping a record about why they charged her with assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended the former Love Island presenter receive a caution following an incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

However, this was overturned after an appeal from the Met Police who instead charged her with assault by beating.

A coroner later ruled she took her own life after learning that prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the force was ordered to apologise to Caroline’s family following a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which found there was not a “record of rationale” to appeal against the CPS decision.

He said: “We have done so and acknowledged the impact that this has had on them.

“Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Ms Flack’s family for their loss.”

After an initial investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) found there was no misconduct, Caroline’s family escalated their concerns to the IOPC, which ordered the Met to reinvestigate complaints relating to the process involved in appealing against the CPS decision.

A spokesman said: “That investigation by the DPS concluded in May 2022 and found that the service provided was acceptable.

“The (Met) identified some learning around using IT systems to record appeal decisions and the use of decision models for cautions, which are being implemented.”

In June last year, Caroline’s family appealed the outcome of the DBS investigation to the IOPC, who carried out a review which did not identify any misconduct but concluded that an officer should receive “reflective practice”.

The spokesman added: “This was about the requirement to review all case material and record a balanced rationale, demonstrating objective decision-making by exploring aggravating and mitigating factors, when appealing a CPS decision.”

The force await recommendations from the IOPC for “organisational learning”, a spokesman confirmed.

Christine Flack, the mother of Caroline, has been contacted for comment.

Adele At Sports Matches Remains Our Favourite Genre Of Meme After Super Bowl Moment Goes Viral

Well, she’s gifted us a moment that has surpassed that at this year’s Super Bowl.

The Someone Like You was in attendance at Sunday’s game in Arizona, and the camera once again caught her serving up an absolute moment.

Wearing a stunning grey blazer, hooped earrings and a camp pair of oversized sunglasses, Adele was seen appearing to tell the men stood either side of her to zip it.

Cameras caught the moment as she waved her hands and gestured to her companions to be quiet, before smacking her lips and staring straight ahead with a full, unbothered pout.

Naturally, the internet had a lot of fun with the clip…

The highly-choreographed performance saw her take fans through some of her biggest hits including Bitch Better Have My Money, Only Girl (In The World), Work and Umbrella in a 12-minute set.

Susanna Reid Defends Madonna After Comments About Her Grammys Appearance: ‘She Should Be Proud Of Herself’

Susanna Reid has defended Madonna after the star spoke out against misogynistic and ageist comments about her appearance.

The Good Morning Britain presenter said the Like A Prayer singer should “feel proud of herself”, while criticising those who have been passing comment on Madonna since she popped up at the Grammys over the weekend.

Discussing a recent Instagram post, in which Madonna said she was once again “caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in”, on the ITV breakfast show, Susanna said: “She’s 64 years old and I think she is damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. If she aged naturally people would still be focused and obsessed with her appearance.

“People are going to be obsessed with how Madonna appears and she thinks it is an example of misogyny, ageism and she also blames the long lens of the camera which took her photo.”

She continued: “Frankly, do you know what? I think she should just look however she wants to look and there we go and there you have it.

“She should feel proud of herself whatever she does.”

The Queen of Pop appeared on stage at Sunday’s Grammys to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ performance of their hit collaboration, Unholy, during which she paid tribute to her fellow “troublemakers and rebels”.

It prompted scrutiny and speculation on social media and in the press, with some questioning if the 64-year-old had undergone cosmetic surgery.

Responding to the criticism on Instagram, Madonna said: “Many people chose to only talk about close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone’s face.

“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 and feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous.

“I have never apologised for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start.”

Madonna pointed out that she’s been “degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”

She concluded: “I look forward to many more years of subversive behaviour – pushing boundaries – Standing up to the patriarchy – and Most of all enjoying my life.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.

Lewis Capaldi knew what he was letting himself in for when he agreed to hand over his phone to Michael McIntyre as part of his regular Send To All challenge on his BBC show.

The segment sees a celebrity hand over their mobile to Michael who then peruses through their phone before sending an oft-hilarious message to all of their (often famous) contacts and awaits responses.

But that didn’t mean the Scottish star bothered to do a quick audit of the photos in his camera roll ahead of his appearance on Saturday night’s episode of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

The Someone You Loved singer showed what a good sport he was when the host started scrolling through his snaps only to reveal several of Lewis in his pants.

Cue gasps from the audience at London’s Drury Lane Theatre and Lewis joking: “I’m smuggling quite a few budgies there!”

When Michael asked why the singer was taking the selfies, he replied: “Ah, for personal use.”

Another picture showed Lewis lying down on a bed holding a trophy from the Official Charts Company, which left the audience and viewers at home in hysterics…

Lewis’ appearance on the BBC show follows that of Rylan Clark last month, who also took part in the Send To All segment.

But as Rylan relinquished his phone, he soon realised there was an app he’d forgotten to delete prior to it being the focus of a feature on national TV.

He was seen holding his head in his hands laughing as he realised Hinge was still active, and it didn’t take Michael long to delve into his profile.

Throwing it up on the big screen, viewers saw a variety of Rylan’s pictures and answers to various prompts.

“You know when you join these things… because I am a single man know, so I thought I’d get with the programme and do what everyone else does and try this out,” he explained. “But it says you have to add a certain amount of photos.

“I’ve not updated my photos since I’ve done that, ‘Oh that one will do, that one will do,’” he insisted.

Rylan’s profile also revealed his unusual skill is that he can “roll his tongue in three places” and the way to win him over is by “being decent”.
