If you’re a fan of a fast-paced thriller full of unpredictable twists and turns, Netflix has something you might want to check out this weekend.
On Thursday morning, the streaming giant premiered its new series Black Rabbit, which centres around two brothers who are reunited after an estrangement.

Jude Law plays one of the men, a successful New York nightclub owner whose life is turned upside down when his chaotic brother, portrayed by Jason Bateman, strolls back into his life, with chaos in his wake.
Reviews of the show so far have been pretty positive, with critics predicting big viewing figures for Black Rabbit, and even some (though, admittedly, not all!) of the less enthusiastic assessments still pointing out that the show is likely to make for binge-friendly viewing.

“The writing and the pacing of Black Rabbit during the appetiser portion of the program are solid enough that one will want to stick around for dessert, though there’s quite a bit of filler, too.”

“There’s always something happening, but it doesn’t always work. Everything is pitched at the same level of intensity, even if it’s obviously not as important or ends up not mattering. The runtimes are bloated, and some long scenes may have you eyeing the fast forward button… [but] the good news is that the show gets better as it goes on.”
“Although the series never feels like it could go anywhere, at least the inevitability instilled by its flash-forward opening quickly illustrates why you don’t have to keep hanging around.”
Hannah Einbinder has confirmed rumours that the upcoming fifth season of Hacks will be the last.
The comedian and actor shared what she described as the “bittersweet” news while speaking to reporters on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
“We’re going to start [filming] next week, and knowing it’s the last season is really bittersweet,” she told E! host Heather McMahan. “But I think it’s right, you know?”

Hannah added that she thought the end of the fifth season was the right time to end the show, as it was better to call time on Hacks when it is still popular and loved.
“I think it’s nice to do something as many times as it should be done,” she explained on the awards show red carpet. “Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry.”

Hacks has been an awards darling since it debuted in 2019, with Jean Smart winning an Emmy for every season she has played comedian Deborah Vance.
Series creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky previously admitted they had a five-season plan for their hit US series. After the events of season four, the trio hinted that Hacks may go on for even longer, but sadly for fans, that is evidently no longer the case.
“We are now breaking up season five, and we have to see how many episodes it will take us to get to where we know we’re going to go,” Paul W. Downs told Variety, breaking down the events of the season four finale.

“The final scene of the final episode has been in our minds since 2015, and we’re excited to get there. But that may take more episodes than we can fit in the season.”
While there’s no official word yet on exactly when season five of Hacks will air, it’s worth noting that previous seasons have debuted in the spring.
As always, the National Television Awards brought together some of the biggest names on British telly on Wednesday night.
This year’s NTAs united presenters, actors and reality stars under one roof to celebrate the past year’s biggest achievements in television – and as you’d expect, the red carpet was absolutely jam-packed.

On Monday evening, their replacements were officially confirmed, with former regular guest critic Grace Dent being appointed a full-time judge moving forward.

She’ll be joined at the helm by chef Anna Haugh, who previously served as a judge on one series of Masterchef: The Professionals in 2022.
Grace enthused: “I’m over the moon to be coming back to the MasterChef kitchen and unearthing what culinary skills people have been cooking up behind closed doors.

“It’s a joy to be working with Anna, who brings all her incredible experience to the table. I am in for such a treat with this series, I can’t wait to get started.”
Anna agreed: “I’m delighted to be back on MasterChef and judging alongside the wonderful Grace Dent, whose writing and wit I’ve admired for years.
“MasterChef has long inspired and resonated with cooks in home kitchens and of course in my industry. I can’t wait to get into the studio for what will be a great competition.”

Prior to that, it was revealed that Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt would be taking over Gregg Wallace’s old slot on Masterchef: The Professionals.

Gregg was fired as the host of MasterChef in July, after almost 20 years at the helm, following claims that were upheld in a report alleging the use of sexual language and one case of unwanted physical contact.

He has since apologised for “any distress caused” by his behaviour, while also noting that he was cleared of what he described as “the most serious and sensational accusations”.
The most recent season of MasterChef was filmed last year, featuring both Gregg and John as usual, although the BBC made the decision to greatly reduce their screen-time.
The Wednesday universe just got a whole lot bigger after a new cohort of stars joined the Netflix hit for its long-awaited second season.
After a three-year wait, the new episodes see Jenna Ortega’s character finally heading back to Nevermore to tackle new mysteries while she navigates family, friends and old foes.

Joining returning stars like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and the rest of the kooky family, this season brings a host of new stars and A-list performers into the mix.
With the first four episodes of the season available to watch now (ahead of part two dropping on 3 September), you might have spotted more than a few familiar faces.

His other big movie credits include Fargo, The Death Of Stalin and Ghost World. With more than a few hardman roles added to his resume over the years, he’s also no stranger to comedy, having appeared in Hubie Halloween, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and The Week Of.
If nothing else, you’ve most definitely seen his famous “how do you do, fellow kids” line memed to high heaven from 30 Rock, or heard his voice as Randall in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.

Doctor Who fans will always know and love Billie Piper as the iconic companion Rose in the first two revived seasons of the beloved sci-fi show.
She joins Wednesday as Isadora Capri, the Academy’s new head of music, and has previously starred in shows like Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, I Hate Suzie and Penny Dreadful, and portrayed Fanny Price in the Jane Austen TV movie adaptation of Mansfield Park.
Before all of that, though, she was a chart-topping popstar, racking up hits like Because We Want To, Day And Night and Girlfriend.

She won an Emmy for her stunning portrayal of brothel madam Maeve in Westworld, while her other memorable roles across film include Beloved, Mission Impossible II and Crash. Her TV credits, meanwhile, range from Line Of Duty, Rogue and ER.
Thandiwe has also had some huge voice parts, including Mona in Big Mouth and Eshe in Disney’s Lion King prequel Mufasa, which came out last year.

The Back To The Future legend is officially returning to the Addams Family universe, after portraying Uncle Fester in Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1990s films.
However, this time around, he’s playing Professor Orloff, Nevermore’s longest-serving teacher. Along with his unforgettable role as Doc Brown in the iconic sci-fi trilogy, he’s also known for playing Jim Ignatowski in the Emmy-winning comedy series Taxi.
Christopher’s other notable movie credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

Wednesday is Evie’s biggest acting gig to date, but she’s also had small roles in Criminal Record, Life After Life and Robert Zemeckis’ reimagining of Disney’s Pinocchio.
Next week, the polarising reboot will come to an end with its last ever episode, which will see Sarah Jessica Parker hanging up her Manolos for good and making her last on-screen appearance as Carrie Bradshaw.

While it received little fanfare at the time, in 2013, The Carrie Diaries reintroduced the future columnist and TV icon as a high school student.
Set in the mid-80s and based on Candace Bushnell’s book of the same name, the criminally-underrated series saw AnnaSophia Robb playing the character in her younger years, as she navigated first love and finding her place in the world.

The first season also introduced viewers to Carrie’s first group of girlfriends, as well as her first crush, played by a young Austin Butler a decade before he’d have his breakthrough in movies like Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Elvis and Dune: Part Two.
Admittedly, The Carrie Diaries is a teen drama, meaning the action is a little more youth-oriented than anything showcased in Sex And The City or And Just Like That.
Still, for Sex And The City fans, we’d still consider giving it a whirl. For one thing, AnnaSophia clearly did her homework when it came to playing Carrie – her mannerisms are endearingly SJP-esque, and if you’re a fan of the character’s fashion, you’ll love seeing the young character experimenting with her personal style set against the backdrop of the 80s.

It’s also heartwarming seeing Carrie’s love for her future home in New York blossom over time, especially in season two, when the character makes her very first foray into journalism as an intern for Interview magazine.
The second season also introduces a fabulous new addition in the form of Lindsey Gort’s lovingly-crafted interpretation of Samantha Jones.

When will the final episode of And Just Like That be available to stream?
The And Just Like That will premiere in the US on Thursday 14 August at 9pm ET on the streaming platform HBO Max.
After that, it will be available to stream on Now and Sky in the UK from around 2am on Friday 15 August (just in case you want to set your alarm and see it before it’s spoiled for you!).

The five celebrities taking part in the next season of the hit comedy competition series Taskmaster have been unveiled.
On Thursday evening, Channel 4 revealed the line-up for the Bafta-winning show’s 20th run, which will air later this year.

Joining the cast this time around will be The League Of Gentlemen and Inside No. 9 creator Reece Shearsmith and the comedian and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar, best known for his roles in shows like Goodness Gracious Me, The Kumars At No. 42 and Unforgotten.
They’ll be joined by stand-up comedians Maisie Adam, Ania Magliano and Phil Ellis.

A Channel 4 press release teased: “The almighty Taskmaster Greg Davies and his faithful admin keeper Alex Horne have gathered some of the most brilliant and eclectic comedy minds and assigned them one mission: to become a Taskmaster Champion.”

No release date for the 20th series of Taskmaster has been given, but Channel 4 has insisted that more information will be “revealed in due course”.
The last season of Taskmaster aired over several weeks earlier in the year, featuring appearances from the likes of Rosie Ramsey, Jason Mantzoukas, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Stevie Martin and Matthew Baynton.
It’s now been almost 10 years since Taskmaster first aired on Channel 4 in 2015, quickly going on to become one of the broadcaster’s most popular original shows.

Back in 2020, it won a Bafta in the Best Comedy Entertainment Programme, beating competition from The Graham Norton Show, The Last Leg and The Ranganation, and was nominated in the same category once again earlier this year.
Taskmaster has also spawned several international remakes in territories like Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Canada, with varying levels of success, while a live experience inspired by the show launched in London last year, before closing in February.

Fans who found themselves hooked on the low-stakes drama of The Four Seasons on Netflix earlier this year were delighted when the show was renewed for a second run last month.
And in a new interview with Deadline, Tina Fey – who also co-created the series, and wrote two of its episodes – is teasing exactly how the next season will work.

The first run of The Four Seasons checked in with the same group of friends on four different group trips, as we caught up with where they were all at in their different personal dramas.
In light of big changes the gang went through by the end of season one, Deadline’s reporter asked Tina whether this format would still be the case for the new episodes.
“One of the things we like about it is what we kept calling the container plate of it. The game of, we only see them on vacation,” Tina responded. “We only see them throughout the year.

She added: “We definitely want to keep the format of only seeing them when they’re together, only seeing them over four occasions.”

Tina also spoke about the possibility of Steve Carell putting in an appearance, despite his character having now been killed off.

“I couldn’t possibly say,” she said. “We have our format.”
She then quipped: “I mean, of the many mistakes I’ve made in my career, killing him will hopefully go down as the biggest.”
Work on the second season of The Four Seasons is now underway, with cast members Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Marco Calvani expected to return in the new episodes.
While promoting The White Lotus, the former Harry Potter star has repeatedly spoken highly of his on-screen children, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola, but during a new interview with Vulture, it was pointed out that he’s been less forthcoming about Parker.

Asked what she was like to work with, he said simply: “She’s Parker Posey. She’s everything you think she would be.”
Pressed further, he explained: “She was playing someone out of her head, so she was given licence to be bonkers. And then I’m playing someone out of my head. So I didn’t really look at her or talk to her or listen to her because I’m so much in my own tunnel.”
“So I can’t really tell you what it’s like to interact with her too much,” he admitted.

During a wide-ranging piece in The Guardian published before the latest season began airing, Jason said of the filming process: “There’s no question that sometimes it is absolutely fabulous, and sometimes it’s Lord of the Flies.”

He continued: “There are tensions and difficulties, I don’t know if they spilled from on screen to off-screen, or if it would have happened anyway.
“There were alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke. It’s a long period of time for people to be away from their family with an open bar and all the wildness being in Thailand allows.”
“I can’t pretend I wasn’t involved in some off-screen drama,” he claimed, later adding: “We’ll all see one other again [for the premiere] and I’m sure we’ll be hugging and kissing and remembering it fondly. But there were times when things were not quite so fond.”
