While there was some speculation the NFL star would be on girlfriend Taylor Swift’s arm at this weekend’s Grammy Awards, Kelce confirmed he won’t be around for the biggest night in music.
“Unfortunately, I’ve got to get ready for this big old Super Bowl that we’ve got in a week,” the tight end added.
Although Kelce isn’t joining Swift at the Grammys, it’s still unknown if she’ll be able to make it to the Super Bowl to support Kelce.
While Kelce and Swift’s relationship has caused a frenzy, the athlete told McAfee his personal life is not going to be a distraction on the field.
“Football is my main focus right now,” he said. “There’s a lot of people counting on me … and on top of that, it’s in my heart to be able to pour everything I got out there on the field.”

The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
It’s still up in the air if Swift will make it to the big game to support Kelce.
While she’s been a fixture at Chiefs games this season, she’ll be performing in Toyko the night before the Super Bowl.
It’s a conspiracy involving the deepest of deep states: The world’s most popular entertainer, America’s most popular sporting event and the president of the United States. Its goal, according to theories circulating in the outskirts of MAGA world, is to covertly compel fans to throw the 2024 election to the Democrats.
Right-wing speculation reached a fever pitch this week around pop mega-star Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce after Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, qualified for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, a victory the two celebrated with much-photographed postgame smooch. A day later, The New York Times ran a piece noting President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign is hoping for Swift’s endorsement.

Those two seemingly unrelated events — and the possibility that Swift would use her massive star power and huge online reach to help Biden beat Donald Trump — are driving right-wing media into a meltdown. And that one of the country’s biggest celebrities will use her fanbase to help Biden is already being treated as inevitable by some of the right’s biggest influencers.
“That will be a tsunami that will be very difficult to thwart,” Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk reportedly said to a group of young conservatives at a conference on Monday night, of the possibility of Swift and her massive army of supporters wading into the election. “We better be prepared. It seems as though things are aligning for that.”
But there’s more to this than the possibility of a Swift nod swinging a close election. For years, right-wing conspiracists have pushed the notion that Swift, who began her career in the conservative world of country music and was once referred to as “Aryan goddess” by white supremacists, is somehow a Democratic “agent” because she endorsed Democrats in the 2018 midterms and Biden in the 2020 presidential election. (Swift has admitted she regrets not getting involved in 2016.)
The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment on alleged collusion with Swift and the NFL.

Kelce, for his part, appeared in a Pfizer commercial promoting the Covid vaccine. Covid shots have long been the subject of right-wing conspiracies, with adherents falsely believing the government is covering up adverse reactions or that the vaccines harbor microchips.
Now, high-profile conservative figures are promoting the unfounded idea that Swift, the NFL and the Democratic Party are together involved in a “psyop” campaign to deliver the election to Biden. Fox News host Jesse Watters recently suggested that Swift was a “front for a covert political agenda” and bizarrely called her a “Pentagon asset” — which, of course, the Pentagon denied.
“As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off,” a Pentagon spokesperson told the Daily Beast.
By that logic, Swift’s appearances at Chiefs games isn’t to cheer on her boyfriend or even to promote her tour — it’s really to get the country to vote blue in November.
“I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months,” former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who has embraced far more dangerous conspiracy theories than this one, tweeted Monday.

“You don’t have to take my word for it. The New York Times already said it’s working on what the Biden administration calls the ′Taylor strategy,’” Jack Posobiec, a conspiracy theorist known for promoting “Pizzagate”, said at Turning Point Action’s Restoring National Confidence Summit on Tuesday, the same event where Kirk mentioned Swift. (The Times article referenced no such strategy.)
“It’s not about her, it’s about the machine that’s around her,” Posobiec said, suggesting Swift is somehow in cahoots with Democrats.
The theory has some truth behind it: Biden has struggled with young voters, who are a major part of Swift’s fanbase and a reason Biden aides are hopeful an endorsement will arrive before the election. Swift’s endorsement could help encourage some of her 279 million Instagram followers to register to vote, or even to raise cash for Biden.
But just ask former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen, who earned Swift’s endorsement in a 2018 Senate race, if the pop megastar can guarantee a victory. (Bredesen lost to GOP Senator Marsha Blackburn by 11 points.)
Though even as the conservative podcasting and media spheres hype the dangers of a Swift endorsement to Trump, some of the most right-wing members of Congress aren’t convinced there’s anything political to the Swift-Kelce coupling.

“I’m a sports fan and if I’m watching a game, I’m watching the game,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told HuffPost. Greene herself has been involved in online conspiracism, and said she’s seen some of the speculation about Swift, but didn’t care to comment.
“Taylor Swift, she’s an entertainer,” Greene said. “Apparently, she’s dating a football player.”
Other House Republicans said they hadn’t heard of what’s going on. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) said he only wanted the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl. “She’s not adding to anything to help them be more successful,” Burlison said.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) joked that maybe Swift is a “double deep plant” who will actually help Republicans.
“I remember when she was country — she was in Nashville, and I like country music,” he said. “I’m not a pop person.”
Host Henry Louis Gates Jr reveals on the show that Odenkirk’s sixth great-grandfather was Germany’s Duke of Plön, who was related to the royal families of Europe. But the actor is quick to assert that he’s “not a monarchist”.

“I’m an American,” Odenkirk says in a teaser clip. “I don’t believe in, uh, that. You know, I feel like it’s a little twisted.”
He adds: “I understand why society built itself around monarchs and leaders. … But I think that we’ve gotten to a better place with democracy, and we should keep going down that road.”
It’s at that moment that an excited Gates primes Odenkirk for a follow-up revelation, saying: “You and King Charles III are 11th cousins.”
The actor is initially at a complete loss for words before guffawing — and cheekily reassessing his stance.

“Well, maybe I’ll change my mind on that,” quips Odenkirk. “Oh, that is crazy!”
Gates’ team of genealogical researchers went back generations to trace Odenkirk’s lineage to a fifth great-grandfather named Friedrich Carl Steinholz, who was born out of wedlock in 1755 and fathered by the Duke of Plön.

After wowing critics in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic (and landing himself an Oscar nomination in the process, no less), Austin Butler is now back in action in an exciting new project.
However, what you might not realise is that there’s every chance you’d already seen him either on TV or the silver screen long before Masters Of The Air or Elvis came along.

Hannah Montana
Austin began acting professionally as a teenager, appearing as Lionel Scranton in over 40 episodes of the Nickelodeon series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.

But that’s far from the only teen show Austin appeared in during that period.
As well as Zoey 101, iCarly and Wizards Of Waverly Place, Austin shared the screen with Miley Cyrus in an episode of Disney’s Hannah Montana, when he was around 15 years old.

Starring teen idol David Cassidy (and created by his brother Shaun), the sitcom Ruby & The Rockits centred around a once-famous musical family who have retired from the limelight and their lives after fame.
Austin appeared as the lead character Ruby’s son Jordan Gallagher, who gave several musical performances over the course of the show.

Having already racked up appearances in several teen comedies, Austin’s first feature-length film role came in 2009, when he appeared in the family adventure Aliens In The Attic.
For those unfortunate enough to have missed it, the film – which co-starred Ashley Tisdale and Carter Jenkins – deals with a family whose children discover some aliens.
Spoiler alert: They’re in the attic.
Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure
And speaking of Ashley Tisdale, her iconic High School Musical character received her own spin-off, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, in 2011.
The musical film reunited Aliens In The Attic stars Austin and Ashley, with the former playing an aspiring film director who convinces Sharpay to be the star of his next project. It’s completely ridiculous, and therefore a must-watch.

The Carrie Diaries

While we’re on the subject of must-watches, we were skeptical about Sex And The City prequel The Carrie Diaries when it was first announced, but ended up loving it, and we definitely don’t feel it gets enough love.
Austin was one of the main cast members in both seasons of The Carrie Diaries, playing Carrie Bradshaw’s first ever love, Sebastian Kydd.

Yoga Hosers formed part of filmmaker Kevin Smith’s “True North trilogy”, alongside Tusk and Moose Jaws.
Like the rest of the trilogy, Yoga Hosers featured appearances from Johnny Depp and his daughter Lily-Rose, Justin Long and Haley Joel Osment, as well as Adam Brody, Tony Hale and Nastasha Lyonne.
The comedy horror – which centred around two teenage yoga enthusiasts who end up fighting a battle with zombie Nazis – was completely panned by critics.

Austin appeared as Charles Denton “Tex” Watson, a real-life member of the so-called Manson Family, who was responsible for the murder of Sharon Tate, an event which is reimagined by Tarantino within the film.

What’s it about? A 12-year-old boy struggles to move on with his life following the death of his mother. When he and his dad move to a new town, where he learns he is to become a step-brother, things take a surreal turn when a talking heron leads him to an exciting adventure.

In 2019, the Oscar nominee appeared as “Manson Family” member and murderer Tex Watson in Quentin Tarantino’s hit movie.
However, around the same time, he’d been invited to do a screen test for the Top Gun sequel Maverick, but People has reported he told the Happy Sad Confused podcast he opted for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood as he’d long wanted to work with Quentin Tarantino.
“I’d already met with him, so I did that,” he explained.
As it turns out, this was probably the right call, as Variety reports that the Top Gun team were unsure whether Austin was old enough to play the role of Rooster, which ultimately went to Miles Teller.
It wasn’t all in vain, though, as the Top Gun casting process ultimately led to him landing the part of Elvis Presley in the 2022 musical biopic.
However, Austin has revealed there was one obstacle he had to overcome before filming began – his still-prevalent Elvis Presley voice that he picked up while making the hit Baz Luhrmann film.
If you’re on TikTok at all, you might recognise the name Paloma Diamond. The character is the creation of New Zealand TikToker Julian Sewell, who has been posing as Diamond ever since October last year.
In a TikTok that currently has over 19 million views, Sewell aped the Academy Awards with a flawless parody called “Every Best Actress Award Intro”. In it, an announcer introduces five fictional actresses and their (impeccably named) non-existent films, including Paloma Diamond.
“I [get] an influx of really kind and supportive messages from people I’ve never met before, saying ‘oh my god you make my day,’ or ‘I was having an awful day until I saw your video and it made me laugh’ – and that’s all that matters.”

Since his first video, Sewell’s best actress characters have developed their own currency online, with users across Instagram, X and TikTok all desperate to see more from the likes of Lorelai Lynch and Taylor Witherfork.
But none are more sought after than Diamond, who Sewell has really run with, posting parodies of the Meryl Streep-esque performer taking part in Vogue’s 73 Questions and The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable series.
One of the ongoing gags in the Paloma Diamond universe is the fact that the “actress” has been nominated for an Oscar 18 times, but has never won one. Well, as of 2024, Diamond has another nomination, and fans are keen to see her finally take home the coveted award.

2024′s Oscar nominees have just been announced, and the team behind Oppenheimer, Killers Of The Flower Moon and Poor Things all have major cause for celebration.
But how are the picks chosen?
Well, you might have heard winners thank the Academy during their speeches. But you might not have known that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences they’re referring to boasts “nearly 11,000” members who are divided into 17 branches.

First of all, who are The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences?
They’re a massive group of experts who all work in the film industry across various disciplines. But that doesn’t mean they’re all in creative fields, like set design or acting ― some are executives or PR pros.
As president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Janet Yang said at the start of the 2024 Oscar nominations, people vote in their area of expertise.
“The Oscar nominees in almost every category were voted upon by peers in the branch,” she explained. “Actors vote for actors; film editors vote for film editors; costume designers for costume designers; and so on.”
“Best Picture nominations, however, are determined by all Academy members,” she added.
Once nominees have been decided, all voting members can cast their ballot on who wins.
How do they vote once nominees have been selected?
The vote takes place online. For most categories, Academy members simply pick one favourite ― and the one with the most votes wins.

Again, though, Best Picture is different.
In this case, a system called preferential voting is used, where Academy members rank every movie on the list ― and if one movie gets over 50% first-place votes in the first round, it wins immediately.
If no movie does this, the movie with the least first-place votes is eliminated ― then the remaining movies get bumped up a spot on the ballots. So, a movie that was someone’s second choice gets moved up to their first.
This keeps happening until a winner reaches the 50% mark. Hey, nobody ever said showbiz was easy…
If you’ve seen Barbie (and judging by its blockbuster popularity, you probably have), you’ll know that Ryan Gosling played Stereotypical Ken in the film.
His character, whose official job was “beach” and whose main hobby was “pining after Margot Robbie’s Barbie,” delighted audiences with his hilarious antics and, er, fascinating singing voice.
Ryan Gosling has been nominated for the 2024 Oscars awards for Best Supporting Actor as Ken. The song played by his character, I’m Just Ken, which is ― well ― all about Ken has been nominated for Best Original Song.
And while nobody’s doubting the actor’s hilarious performance (which was undeniably incredible, and definitely Oscar-worthy in our opinion), some on X (formerly Twitter) have noticed that Greta Gerwig, the film’s director, and Margot Robbie ― Barbie’s main lead and producer of the film ― have not received a Best Director or Best Actress nomination.
This, some point out, is ironic given the feminist message of the film.
Of course, America Ferrera did receive an equivalent nomination for her role as Gloria in the movie (she’s been nominated for Best Supporting Actress). Greta Gerwig’s screenplay, co-written with Noah Baumbach, did get nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.
And Margot Robbie is indirectly nominated for Best Picture via her production work.
Still, people on X thought the Best Actress and Best Director omissions were… interesting. Here are some responses:
Seth Meyers on Thursday spotlighted just some of the “embarrassing mistakes” that Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, has made during writer E Jean Carroll’s new defamation trial against the former president.
One flub stood out in particular to the Late Night comedian.
Meyers noted how US District Judge Lewis Kaplan became infuriated with Habba over “a ridiculous motion for mistrial” after Caroll’s lawyer objected to Habba’s line of questioning.
Kaplan responded, “Denied and the jury will disregard everything Miss Habba just said.”
Meyers commented, “Man, that is brutal.”
Habba is “so bad at this the judge is basically telling the jury, ‘Just pretend she’s not here,’” he added. “The judge is talking about her the way you talk to your kids about the weird guy on the subway.”
