Police Won’t Appeal Against Katie Price’s Suspended Drink-Drive Sentence, Confirm ‘Disappointed’ Cops

Police have confirmed they are unable to appeal against Katie Price’s suspended sentence for drink-driving following a crash near her home.

The TV personality avoided jail time last month when she was handed a 16-week suspended sentence for the driving offence while being disqualified and not having insurance.

While a judge said she was unable to send Price to prison because she had complied with requirements of the court, including attending a rehabilitation centre and not to commit further offences, Sussex Police said they were looking at whether the sentence could be subject to appeal.

However, it has now emerged that it will not be appealed, with the police describing the result as “disappointing”.

A spokesperson told Metro: “Following a detailed review by Sussex Police, it was concluded that there are no legal grounds for Sussex Police to appeal the sentence imposed.

“This is disappointing. We remain absolutely committed to pursuing and preventing irresponsible driving behaviour which puts the safety of everyone on our roads at risk.”

Superintendent James Collis, head of roads policing for Sussex Police and Surrey Police previously said that Price was “extremely lucky not to be spending Christmas behind bars”.

“Given the circumstances and her history of motoring offences, it’s clear she did not consider the risk of her actions to the wider public or the implications for her own family,” he added.

Price was involved in the collision on September 28 while she driving to visit a nearby friend.

The court also heard at the time that Price had told police after the crash: “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all.”

Following sentencing last month, Price said she was “incredibly sorry” for her actions, saying: “I’m sincerely grateful nobody was hurt – I realise the damage my actions could have caused not only to another family, but to my own as well.”

“I’m now spending time getting better — mental health is a hidden illness and can strike at any time.

“The triggers that cause my anxiety and behaviour are something I’m trying to understand, come to terms with, and learn to control moving forward.”

Molly-Mae Hague Apologises For Comments On Success And Privilege In Her Own Statement On Controversy

Molly-Mae Hague has issued her own statement on the controversy surrounding her recent comments on success and privilege, in which she apologised to the people who have been “affected negatively or misunderstood the meaning” of her remarks.

The former Love Island star made headlines last week when a clip of her appearance on Steven Barlett’s Diary of a CEO series went viral, in which she claimed “we all have the same 24 hours in the day” to achieve success.

“I understand that obviously we all have different backgrounds, and we’re all raised in different ways, and we do have different financial situations, but I think if you want something enough you can achieve it and it just depends to what lengths you want to go to get where you wanna be in the future,” the social media influencer said.

Following accusations that her views were “tone deaf” and “Thatcherite”, Molly-Mae’s representative issued a lengthy statement insisting she was “discussing her own experience and how she can resonate with this specific quote”.

However, the influencer has now gone further in a post on her Instagram Stories, where she has 6.3 million followers.

She wrote on Monday: “I wanted to come back online today as normal but I feel like before I do I just wanted to say this…

“When I say or post anything online, it is never with malice or ill intent.

“I completely appreciate that things can affect different people in different ways however I just want to stress that I would never intend to hurt or upset anyone by anything that I say or do.”

“I apologise to the people that have been affected negatively or misunderstood the meaning of what I said in the podcast, the intentions of the podcast were only ever to tell my story and inspire from my own experience.”

She added: “Love to you all, always x.”

A rep for Molly-Mae previously tried to clarify her comments after much social media commentary.

They said: “Social media users have shared a short snippet from this interview with words such as ‘if you are homeless buy a house’ and ‘if you are poor be poor’.

“These are absolutely not Molly’s words, these are not Molly’s thoughts and this isn’t at all the meaning or thought behind that conversation.”

Molly Mae found fame on the 2019 series of Love Island, where she coupled up with boxer Tommy Fury.

The pair finished in second place on the ITV2 reality show, and have gone on to forge a lasting relationship, as well as becoming one of the show’s biggest success stories.

Molly Mae, who was an influencer prior to appearing on Love Island, was named creative director of fast fashion brand PrettyLittleThing in August last year, with her salary reported to stand at seven figures.

Steven Bartlett, whose podcast Molly-Mae made the comments on, also defended the star and said she faced a “double standard” as a young and successful woman, noting that his male guests did not have to “tip toe” around their successes.

“If I interview a man, he can brag about money, take full credit for his success and talk about his cars?” he asked on Twitter.

“Gender issues aside, the standard we hold Molly Mae to as a 22 year-old that’s figuring out the world is absolutely outrageous.”

Grange Hill Actor Nicholas Donnelly Dies, Aged 83

Grange Hill actor Nicholas Donnelly has died at the age of 83, his family has said.

The actor, who played teacher Mr MacKenzie in the series for around eight years, died in his sleep at the weekend and had not been ill.

A statement from his family said: “He was a gracious, kind and lovely man, a wonderful father and grandfather.

“He was also very funny and brilliant at telling stories, acting out all the characters, marvellous company and a privilege to know.

“He loved nothing more than offering hospitality and making people feel welcome.”

Donnelly also appeared in BBC police series Dixon Of Dock Green as Sergeant Johnny Wills in around 200 episodes of the programme, which featured Jack Warner in the title role as George Dixon.

In 2015, he was quoted as saying to the Daily Express: “Many of my scenes were with Jack Warner, who played Dixon – particularly as his right-hand man with a fast pair of legs, whenever we had to chase a load of crooks. The producers allowed me to progress through the ranks to acting sergeant, sergeant and even dog handler.”

He also told the newspaper: “Jack was kind to everyone and very professional; he made the show a huge success and we were like a family because of him. We always had an end of season party and as soon as Jack walked in the room you noticed him; it was his charisma: you can’t define it, buy it or learn it – but he had it.”

Warner’s character’s greeting of ‘Evening all’ and ‘Goodnight, all’ became a staple of the programme.

Donnelly met his wife Alrun during his National Service in Germany in the late 1950s, and the couple were married for more than 60 years.

They had two sons, twin daughters and five grandchildren.

The actor, who was a Queens Park Rangers fan, grew up in Kensington, and his other TV credits included appearances in The Saint, which starred Roger Moore.

His acting credits extended to the big screen where he starred in films like 1982 horror film Venom and comedy film Carry On Sergeant.

In 1993 he retired to Hastings with his wife, where he was a lay minister at his Catholic Church, St Mary Star of the Sea.

Sinéad O’Connor has announced that her 17-year-old son Shane has died.

The singer shared the tragic news in the early hours of Saturday morning, two days after the teenager – whose father is Irish folk musician Dónal Lunny – was reported as missing.

“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,” she wrote.

“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

In a subsequent tweet, Sinéad again described Shane as the “light of my life”.

“You will always be my light,” she said. “We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”

The Irish police force An Garda Síochána had been appealing for information after Shane went missing from an area in Dublin, Ireland on 6 January.

A spokesperson has since confirmed to the Irish Examiner: “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, 7 January 2022, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down.

“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time.”

George Alagiah Says Cancer Will ‘Probably Get Me In The End’ As He Opens Up About Living With Disease

BBC newsreader George Alagiah has said he believes his cancer will probably “get him in the end” as he discussed living with the disease in a new interview.

The 66-year-old broadcaster was first diagnosed with the illness in 2014 and again in 2017.

Appearing on Craig Oliver’s Desperately Seeking Wisdom podcast, George admitted he does not think he is “going to be able to get rid of this thing”, but spoke of finding contentment with his diagnosis.

“I’ve got the cancer still. It’s growing very slowly,” he said. “My doctor’s very good at every now and again hitting me with a big red bus full of drugs, because the whole point about cancer is it bloody finds a way through and it gets you in the end.

“Probably … it will get me in the end. I’m hoping it’s a long time from now, but I’m very lucky.”

George said he wishes he “never ever had cancer”, but explained it has changed the way he looks at life.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure that I’d give the last seven years back because I have learnt stuff about myself and think about life differently. I’ve become wiser and life’s richer,” he said, noting how he also now has an even better relationship with his wife Fran following his diagnosis.

George underwent 17 rounds of chemotherapy to treat his advanced bowel cancer in 2014.

He returned to presenting duties in 2015 after making progress against the disease, and said he was a “richer person” for it.

His cancer returned in December 2017, and the presenter underwent further treatment before once again returning to work.

Last October, he announced a break from his role on BBC News as he dealt with “a further spread” of the disease.

Explaining his contentment at how things are, George continued: “I had to work at it… I had to do the pros and cons. And I’m content that if it all had to stop now, that actually it’s been a good run. So I’ve got to contentment. Acceptance. I’m not gonna give up. I’m not giving up.

“I think I always knew that there was a kind of impermanence. You can’t be a foreign correspondent and do the things I’ve done, seen the things I’ve seen, and not know about the impermanence of life, and too often lives are curtailed. Rather than worrying about when it’s gonna end, I can see it for the gift it is.

“I feel that gift keenly, every morning. You know what I do, Craig? I have a few mantras, and one of them every night I say to myself, ‘Georgie boy, are you gonna be here tomorrow morning?’ For hundreds or thousands of days in the last seven years, the answer has been, ‘Yes. Yeah, George, you are gonna be here in the morning’. I think, ‘Fuck me, what a gift’.”

Rylan Clark Shows Off His Body Transformation After Ditching Booze And Hitting The Gym

Rylan Clark has stripped off for a series of photographs to show off his impressive body transformation.

The TV presenter has ditched alcohol, hit the gym and embraced a new approach to eating after signing up to The Six Pack Revolution programme.

The 33-year-old has credited the “life-changing” exercise and nutrition routine with not only transforming his body but massively improving his mental health too after a difficult year, which saw him split with his husband of six years.

“My attitude to exercise has done a complete u-turn,” Rylan said. “Not only has my body transformed but my mental health has massively improved too, I’m literally a new man!

“I’ve always worried about taking this step but it really has improved me for the better.”

Personal trainer Scott Harrison worked closely with Rylan at his home gym in Essex, combining weight training with a nutrition plan, which included ditching the booze.

On Sunday, Rylan opened up about his split from husband Dan Neal, and how it had left him feeling “unwell”.

The It Takes Two host revealed his weight plummeted to under ten stone, which led him taking a four month break from the spotlight to focus on his physical and mental health.

The 33-year-old, who is currently going through a divorce from his former policeman husband, told The Sun that the split had been “very difficult”.

He said: “I got ill and I lost weight, I went down to under ten stone — and I’m six feet four inches, so that’s not good.

“The honest truth is that it’s been shit. I didn’t deal with what happened and now I am. I felt unwell and it was a very difficult time for me.”

Rylan credited his new fitness regime with “saving” him after he started working out with Scott.

“Last year I properly lost myself,” he admitted. “I wanted to get me back and make a better version.”

Vicky Pattison Says She Was Downing Ten Drinks A Day As Booze Took Over Her Life Following I’m A Celebrity Win

Vicky Pattison says she “jeopardised everything” as drink took over her life after she won I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out Of Here! in 2015.

The reality star found fame aged 22 on MTV’s Geordie Shore before she was crowned the queen of the jungle.

However, the Newcastle-born star says she felt “lost and alone” after the win and she hated the person she became, downing up to ten drinks a day.

Speaking to the Sun on Sunday, Vicky said: “I drank pretty much every day. I would have about ten drinks a day. Wine, spirits, anything really.

“I begged for days off work. Then I’d feel even lonelier and drink more.

“I had everything I ever wanted. The public liked us, I’d left behind Geordie Shore and I had this new shiny career.

“I was convinced that people would realise I wasn’t anything special and it would all be taken away.”

Vicky says her drinking got so bad that she was always turning up late for jobs, admitting she was “not in a fit state to work”.

“When you’re doing talk shows you want to be witty and warm, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, not still shaking off the lethargy of five gin and tonics,” she said.

“Once in a while you can put it down to the Geordie charm but, consistently, it’s just unprofessional. That’s what I was becoming.

“I was jeopardising everything I’d ever wanted and worked for. I don’t know many people who get mortal drunk and are still the nicest people in the world.

“You’re always sloppy or aggressive. I became a gross amalgamation of all of those when I was drunk.

“So I’d deal with a hangover and that shame. And what gets rid of that? Having a drink.”

The 34-year-old is preparing to release her self-help book turned autobiography, The Secret To Happy, this month, now that she has found love and happiness with personal trainer Ercan Ramadan.

Vicky revealed how Ercan stood by her side when she was diagnosed with a cyst on her ovaries.

“I’ve spent so long picking the wrong men. I cry, because all my friends are having babies and I’ve only got a dog.

“Ercan is a lovely person, I’ve never been nicer than with him.

“I was told the cyst could make conceiving difficult. He said, ‘It’s absolutely fine, we’ll be fine, and if we’re not there’s other ways to be a parent’.

“Then, he started talking about adoption and it made us love him even more.

“He’ll be a great dad when the time is right. I hope I’ll be a good mam,” she added.

Rylan Clark Says ‘Difficult’ Marriage Breakdown Left Him Feeling ‘Unwell’ After Weight Loss

Rylan Clark has opened up about the breakdown of his six-year marriage, saying the split from his husband Dan Neal left him feeling “unwell”.

Rylan has credited his mum Linda with being his rock and helping him get through the break up.

“My mum was majorly worried about me, as were all my family,” he said.

“I don’t just disappear for four months — that doesn’t just happen.

“Mum has been a lifesaver to me and one of my biggest regrets of this year was putting my mum through me not being well. I needed to get back to me.”

Rylan says getting fit has “saved” him after he signed up with a personal trainer and started making use of the gym in his home.

“Last year I properly lost myself,” he admitted. “I wanted to get me back and make a better version.”

Rylan’s body transformation isn’t the only physical change he has made.

The TV star announced his decision to ditch his famous teeth after eight years on Twitter.

“I’ve taken the decision to say goodbye… to my teeth 😂 new smile imminent,” he wrote.

Miley Cyrus Suffers Major Wardrobe Malfunction When Her Top Falls Off During Live New Year’s Eve Special

Miley Cyrus was queen of the quick change after suffering a wardrobe malfunction during her star-studded New Year’s Eve special in Miami.

The singer was performing her hit Party In The USA when her glittery crop top fell off, leaving her clutching the fabric over her chest.

The 29-year-old was forced to leave the stage in the middle of the song before returning wearing a red blazer in place of the top.

Resuming her singing duties, she ad-libbed the lyrics: “Everybody’s definitely looking at me now.”

In between verses, she told the crowd: “I’m still in the most clothes that I’ve ever worn on stage.”

The special saw Miley team up with SNL comedian Pete Davidson to introduce a selection of live music performances and comedy skits featuring artists including Saweetie, Jack Harlow, and her little sister Noah.

Opening the show, which aired on US network NBC and streaming service Peacock, Cyrus said: “I just had to have Pete with me tonight, he has been my rock this week.

“Yep, Pete Davidson has been my emotional support, which should tell you how crazy this week has been.”

She continued: “This isn’t the New Year party we thought we were going to have or even the one we were planning on last week or just a few hours ago.

“But we’re just trying to think positive… or negative depending on whichever one means you can still taste and smell.

“It’s about to be 2022, which I think is guaranteed to be the best year of the last three.

A highlight of the show was Miley and her sister performing a cover of Dolly Parton’s country hit Jolene.

The special also featured several comedy sketches involving the two hosts.

One saw Miley and Pete secretly reveal to each other backstage that neither were “party monsters”, in spite of their public reputations.

Both admitted to having fake tattoos that they applied each morning, had never taken any recreational drugs and became increasingly more exhausted by having to go live on Instagram.
