Liz Hurley’s Son Damian Reveals The Cheeky Nickname Hugh Grant Has For Him And His Famous Mum

Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant may not be a couple any more, but it seems like the pair still have a very cheeky relationship. 

Liz’s son Damian has revealed the nickname the Notting Hill actor has for him and his famous mum. 

Hugh is actually godfather to the 19-year-old, and in a profile on Elizabeth in The Sunday Times (£), Damian spoke about his relationship with Hugh. 

“My godfather Hugh [Grant] calls us ‘the Monsters’,” Damian said.

“He says we’re like a tornado when we swarm into a room … we look ‘terrifyingly alike and cause mayhem’.” 

Damian has regularly made headlines for his similarity to his mother, even sporting a version of Elizabeth’s ‘safety pin dress’ that she wore to the premiere of Four Weddings And A Funeral with Hugh over 25 years ago.

Elsewhere in the interview, Liz said she hopes she always remains friends with ex-boyfriend. 

“He’s very happily married,” she told the paper. “I spent some time with him and his wife a few weeks ago at a birthday party. He has five children.

“He’s a great daddy. His career is through-the-roof fantastic at the moment. Best reviews of his life, brilliant offers on the table. We’re good friends and I hope it always stays that way.”

She also revealed that Hugh has been surprised at the way she has changed since they were together from 1987 to 2000. 

“I was a recluse for years. I didn’t leave the house unless I was being paid to do so. I couldn’t bear people listening to me, staring at me, watching me. I felt vulnerable and scared the entire time,” she said.

Recalling a more recent time when she and Hugh drove to pick up Damian from school, Elizabeth continued: “On the way I stopped the car and said, ‘I’m getting a coffee.’ When I got back, he said, ‘You went out to a shop? I’ve never seen you do that ever.’ I told him I now go to my local Waitrose. He was like, ‘You go to a supermarket?’ It’s normal for me now.

“I don’t know if I’d go to Waitrose on the Kings Road, I think I’d start sweating, but Boots on Fulham Road? Maybe.”

Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe has thanked his fans for their support after he and John Whaite dominated the competition with their Movie Week performance on Saturday night.

Johannes admitted that he’s been avoiding social media since he and John began competing as Strictly’s first ever male pairing, but took a moment to thank those who’d shared their “love and support” in the last few weeks.

“I’ve been avoiding Twitter because it can be brutal, BUT there’s been more love and support than ignorance and stupidity, hence I want to say thank you to everyone who gets it,” he wrote on Tuesday night.

“We will continue showing up and thank you for your lovely messages/comments.”

The dancer signed off the message: “Love Jo.”

John and Johannes have emerged as frontrunners for the Glitterball trophy in the first few weeks of this year’s series, and last week landed the highest score of the series so far.

The pair received a near-perfect score of 39 for their Pirates Of The Caribbean-inspired Paso Doble routine, which marked the first time this particular dance had been performed by a same-sex couple on Strictly.

On dancing with a man on TV, Johannes previously told Steph McGovern: “I’ve been championing this all my life… the fact the moment is here now… It’s been lovely.

“I saw Nicola [Adams] and Katya [Jones] do it last year and was like ‘yay’, so when it came round I knew I would love to be a part of it. So when John said, ‘I want to do this’… and proudly so, I was like, ‘this is my guy. It has to be him, it has to be me and him’.”

Christopher Biggins’ Past Comments About Bisexuality Resurface After GMB Superman Debate

Superman will come out as bisexual in a new comic book story

Twitter has been reminded of Christopher Biggins’ past comments about bisexual people, after the panto star was invited onto Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain to discuss the news about Superman coming out as bisexual in a future comic.

Earlier this week, DC Comics confirmed that in an upcoming story, Superman – now the alter-ego of Clark Kent’s son, rather than the original superhero – would be seen having a romantic moment with a man.

On Wednesday morning, Biggins was invited to discuss the issue, where he voiced his disapproval, accusing the comic book creators of “pandering to the ‘woke system’”.

“If you want to do something like this, do something original,” he said. “Don’t take characters that already exist and make them into something that they’re not.”

Presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley then pointed out this story will take place within “the next generation” of Superman, with the latter pointing out: “It’s perfectly reasonable to think that the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane might well grow up to be bisexual. You say ‘why’, but why not?”

Doubling down, a slightly flustered Biggins responded: “Well… I mean… I just find it extraordinary. I do find it absolutely bizarre that this is what people want nowadays.

“Why can’t we stick to… in the future, why don’t they do some new characters? Why not create something new, something different? [Rather] than go to a character we all know and love and we all know as this, not that.”

After the clip was posted online, many spoke out against GMB for inviting Biggins to be part of the discussion, given he was removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house back in 2016 after making a series of remarks about bisexual people.

They also called out Biggins for not having done research on the story before speaking out about it on national television… 

During a discussion on sexuality during his time in the Big Brother house, Biggins received a warning for saying: “The worst type, though, is, I’m afraid to say, the bisexuals… what it is is people not wanting to admit they are gay.”

In a conversation later in the series, he also discussed HIV, claiming the virus was spread by bisexual people who had sex abroad, with infected people, before they “brought it back to their own families in America, and that’s how it became a worldwide disease”.

Biggins was eventually removed from the CBB house, following another comment he made about the Holocaust to housemate Katie Waissel, which Channel 5 chose not broadcast.

At the end of Wednesday’s GMB debate, podcast host Aamir Hassan outlined why he felt the Superman news was a “fantastic” development.

“For a lot of young people, they don’t have the privilege of coming out, and they’re in positions where they’re not able to come out and they’re not able to be themselves,” he explained. “And they look to media, they look to entertainment, they look to comic books, they look to these places for solace and to see themselves.

“And if even just one young person can see Superman’s son be bisexual and it helps them, I don’t see what the issue is. Representation and visibility don’t just change lives, they genuinely save lives.”

While Jesy Nelson and Nicki Minaj’s chaotic live-stream on Monday night is currently dominating the conversation, we’d rather focus on Adele’s joyful and impromptu Instagram Live session over the weekend, which has still got us howling days later.

The Grammy-winning musician shocked her fans on Saturday night when she suddenly went live on her official Instagram page, with more than 100,000 people tuning in to watch her answering fans’ questions.

Adele being Adele, the live-stream was a total scream, not least because of the star’s struggles with technology and difficulties answering certain questions from her followers (sample quote: “what’s my body count? What does that mean?”).

One of our favourite ridiculous moments from the stream, that’s since gone viral on Twitter, came when a fan asked Adele whether she was “gonna collab with Peppa Pig”, prompting an incredulous “no!!” from the Someone Like You singer.

The clip later sparked a reaction from the official Peppa Pig Twitter account, responding with a popular meme featuring the children’s TV character:

Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken of her regrets over having plastic surgery in the past, admitting that it made her “feel worse”.

The acting legend says she is now an “advocate for not fucking with your face” and has also drawn the line at having her hair dyed.

During Tuesday’s edition of Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly told the Hollywood star that Dawn French had cited her as the inspiration for her new short grey “do”. 

Jamie replied: “Lovely! I have been an advocate for natural beauty for a long time, mostly because I’ve had the trial and error of the other part. 

“I did plastic surgery – it didn’t work. I hated it. It made me feel worse.”

The Halloween star continued: “I tried to do everything you can do to your hair. Personally, I felt it was humiliating. I would go into a hair salon, the smell of the chemicals, the feeling of that colour on my hair, sitting under the hairdryer – it was like, for what? 

“So very early on in my career, I had a perm and then had to dye my hair for a movie, and it burned my hair off my head! 

“And the first time I cut my hair short I went, ‘Oh! Oh my god. Oh wow! I look like me!’. Since then I stopped dyeing it, and then I’ve been an advocate for not fucking with your face.” 

She added: “And the term, anti-ageing… what? What are you talking about? We’re all going to fucking age! We’re all going to die. Why do you want to look 17 when you’re 70? I want to look 70 when I’m 70.”

Jimmy Carr Has Heckler Removed From His Show: ‘Get Him Out Of The F***ing Building’

Jimmy Carr furiously had an audience member thrown out of one of his comedy shows last week, after losing his patience with their constant heckling.

The 8 Out Of 10 Cats host was performing in Dorset on Thursday night as part of his Terribly Funny tour, but reports have claimed he had to repeatedly stop his show to address a member of the audience who was heckling him.

Footage recorded during the set shows that Jimmy eventually called on security to “stop negotiating with him and get him out the fucking building”, with the comedian branding the heckler a “fucking r*****”.

As the audience cheered, he reiterated: “Get him out of the room.”

“I’m so sorry ladies and gentlemen,” Jimmy told the rest of the audience. “It very occasionally happens.”

The audience then joined in the calls for security to “get him out”, with Jimmy continuing: “Honestly, it’ll take a minute. It’s a slightly awkward thing but, like, I’m not willing to put up with it.”

Finding the funny in the situation, Jimmy added from the stage: “You’ve done this to yourself mate. If it’s any consolation, I’ll keep the money. Don’t forget to buy my book!”

Fortunately for Jimmy, the audience stayed on his side, with one guest telling Dorset Live: “It was a bit uncomfortable as the set had lost its rhythm and we were now 20 minutes behind. But Jimmy brought it back round and managed to make it enjoyable.” 

Another agreed: “Jimmy Carr handled it like only Jimmy Carr could, he absolutely ruined the bloke. The rest of the show once he was removed was brilliant.”

Jimmy isn’t the only high-profile British comic who’s had to stop a show to deal with an audience member, though.

Last year, Russell Howard made headlines when he walked off stage after spotting someone in the crowd filming him during a gig where he was trying out new material.

He later admitted he was surprised at how big the story became, but stood by his decision to leave the stage, adding: “You won’t find any kind of artist, or performer, or comedian, or musician that would feel differently.

“Particularly if you’re doing a small gig, and somebody’s recording it, it’s not going to be good for you and it’s not going to be good for the performer.”

Madonna Climbs On Jimmy Fallon’s Desk During Chaotic Talk Show Interview

Madonna made a memorable appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s US talk show this week, that saw her shocking the host by climbing on his desk in the middle of their interview.

The music icon was on the programme to promote her new concert film Madame X, a live recording of her infamous 2020 tour, which saw her playing at select theatres in place of the usual arenas and stadiums.

Referring to Madonna’s decision to play at smaller venues, the host commented: “You always do stuff that no one’s doing, you zig when people are zagging… but here’s what I was going to ask you…?”

“Did I make any money?” Madonna interrupted. “No I didn’t!”

Jimmy insisted: “I wasn’t going to ask you that! But people take your ideas, you do all these things first, and then people take your ideas and don’t give you credit.”

“Yeah,” Madonna agreed. “And they also don’t do it as good. That sounds really arrogant but it’s kind of true.”

Later, Madonna cited a James Baldwin quote about artists’ role being “to disturb the peace”, which is a mantra throughout her Madame X film.

“I hope that I have disturbed not only your peace this afternoon, but people watching the show,” Madonna explained. “But I mean that in the best way.”

“Yeah, you get in good trouble,” the presenter asked.

“Good trouble?” the Like A Prayer singer questioned.

Unprompted, she then rose out of her chair and climbed on Jimmy’s desk, while he protested and eventually took off his jacket to cover her backside.

The host seemed somewhat flustered by Madonna’s outburst

“Oh, no one’s going to see anything, my god,” Madonna insisted, lifting the back of her skirt before sitting down for good measure.

“Life is not just about interviewing kiddies, OK?” she added. “Don’t you want to talk to an adult? Let’s have some adult conversation!”

“Is that right? Are you talking to an adult right now?” Jimmy asked.

“I’m not sure… I’m talking to someone who’s… I feel like you’re in sort of conflict right now.”

Jesy Nelson Responds To Accusations Of Blackfishing After Releasing Debut Solo Single Boyz

Jesy Nelson has addressed accusations of Blackfishing following the release of her debut solo single.

The former Little Mix star has previously been accused of cultural appropriation dating back to 2018, with some of her more recent social media posts and photo-shoots facing criticism on social media for alleged Blackfishing.

Blackfishing refers to when non-Black people alter their appearance or “take on a characteristic associated with a Black person’s phenotype” for profit or commercial gain.

When the music video for Boyz – Jesy’s first single since leaving Little Mix – debuted on Friday, many voiced their discomfort with the clip, highlighting it as an example of Blackfishing:

During an interview with Vulture published on Friday after Boyz was released, the chart-topping singer was asked for her thoughts on the controversy.

She said: “The whole time I was in Little Mix I never got any of that. And then I came out of [the band] and people all of a sudden were saying it.

“I wasn’t on social media around that time, so I let my team [deal with it], because that was when I’d just left.

“But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on. I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t.”

When asked if she felt she had “changed the way she acts or dresses”, Jesy responded: “Not at all. I’m just 100 percent being myself.

“If you look at me on X Factor with my big curly hair, I was wearing trainers and combats — that’s who I am as an artist and as Jesy. Now I’m out of Little Mix, I’ve gone back to being who I am.

“Like I said, I don’t ever want to be an artist who’s being told what to wear or what music to make. I want to be authentic and true to myself, and if people don’t like that, don’t be my fan. Don’t be a part of my journey.”

Vulture claimed that Jesy subsequently “cancelled two scheduled follow-up calls to discuss Blackfishing and identity in greater detail”.

Her publicist did supply a statement from Jesy on the subject, which said: “I take all those comments made seriously. I would never intentionally do anything to make myself look racially ambiguous, so that’s why I was initially shocked that the term was directed at me.”

Jesy previously told The Guardian on the matter over the summer: “I would never want to offend anyone, and [being accused of Blackfishing] was really upsetting. I wasn’t aware that’s how people felt.”

In December 2020, Jesy announced she was leaving Little Mix after nine years with the X Factor-winning group, telling fans at the time that being part of the band was affecting her mental health.

Defending her decision to go solo in a recent interview on Fearne Cotton’s podcast, she insisted: “I think a lot of people have misconstrued what I meant in my statement… I never said in my statement, ‘I’m coming out of the music industry, I’m not going to do music anymore…’

“I said, ‘I’m just going to start a new chapter of my life, I just want to make myself happy. I don’t know what that’s going to be, but I need to look after myself now, make myself feel better again’.”

Jesy also insisted earlier this week that while she is no longer in contact with her former bandmates, she still “loves them” and considers them “sisters”.

“I can’t explain it, it’s like there has to be this distance,” she told Glamour magazine. “We were so close so you can’t do in-between, there has to be space.”

“Hopefully at some point in the future we can all come back together. I love them. They are my sisters in so many ways, but for the time being we just don’t talk.”

Comedian Rosie Jones on BBC Question Time

Comedian Rosie Jones said minorities do not feel safe in Britain during a conversation about violence against women on BBC Question Time.

Touching on the national debate which was reignited after the sentencing of Sarah Everard’s killer, Jones explained how she feels like neither Downing Street nor the police “care about my safety”.

Speaking on Thursday, the comic explained: “Talking about women’s safety in general, right now there’s a government inquiry and a met inquiry [into Everard’s killer] and I really feel like they are both PR stunts.

“I really don’t feel, as a woman, that either care about my safety.”

BBC host Fiona Bruce asked: “What would make you feel safe then, as you’re not happy about either of these inquiries?”

Jones pointed out: “They needed to do this before. And I feel like when we have got a government where Dominic Raab doesn’t even know what misogyny is, that is scary.”

She continued: “I’m a woman, but also as a disabled woman, I don’t feel safe at night.

“I don’t feel safe with police officers, and we need to get to a place where women – but also any minority, if you’re a woman, you’re disabled, if you’re in the LGBT spectrum, if you’re a person of colour – that fact is right now in the UK, they don’t feel safe, at home, at night, and that is a scary place to live in.”

Everard’s death back in March caused national outrage about protection towards women.

She was murdered by a then-serving police officer, who kidnapped her by putting her under false arrest for breaching lockdown rules.

People have subsequently called for reforms within the national police force, for the Met to vet all of their officers more thoroughly and for misogyny to be made into a hate crime.

After Question Time aired, Jones tweeted: ”As a gay, disabled woman living in the UK, I don’t feel safe.

“When will the government and the police support us?”

Jones also tweeted on Friday that she had received a substantial amount of “ableist abuse” after her appearance on Question Time.

She explained: “The sad thing is that I’m not surprised at the ableist abuse I’ve received tonight regarding my appearance on Question Time.

“It’s indicative of the country we live in right now.

“I will keep on speaking up, in my wonderful voice, for what I believe in.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Star Charity Kase Wins Wave Of Praise For Candid Chat About HIV Status

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Charity Kase won praise from viewers after a candid discussion in this week’s episode, in which she spoke about her HIV status.

Speaking to competitor Kitty Scott Claus in the work room this week, Charity – known for her surreal style of drag – was asked what got her started in the artform.

Charity then explained that she got into drag as a way of dealing with “dark times” that she’d been through in her late teens.

“I moved to London when I was 17 and then when I was 18 I was having a good time and I was on the scene,” she said.

“But then I ended up contracting HIV and it was kind of really hard for me to process that at 18. I was still a child, do you know what I mean?

“Six years on I’m still living with the after effects of this one night where this guy took advantage of me.”

Charity also shared that she has received abusive messages on dating apps in the past when she has disclosed her status, adding: “The trauma of getting diagnosed positive really comes from the stigma of HIV and it’s really sad that’s such a thing.”

“I take three tablets a day and I live a normal life expectancy, and I am undetectable, that means that the virus cannot be passed on from me,” she said in a confessional. “These are major, major steps towards controlling the virus.”

After the episode debuted, Charity received a wave of support from viewers who applauded her for helping destigmatise HIV:

Charity was also praised by the organisation the Terrence Higgins Trust, who tweeted: “It’s amazing to see @thecharitykase using her platform on @dragraceukbbc to educate people on the reality of HIV today.

“It’s so important to know the facts on HIV and challenge attitudes towards the virus that are stuck in the 1980s. HIV has changed. Tell Everyone.”

After the episode aired, Charity wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to @dragraceukbbc for the opportunity to share my story and to @thtorguk for all of their support and work they do.

“I wanted to open up on this platform to hopefully educate and help some people watching. The best way to combat stigma is through education.”

Thursday night’s instalment saw the impromptu exit of Victoria Scone, who sustained a knee injury during the first episode of the series, and was forced to bow out early on medical grounds.

Victoria made history as the first cisgender woman to compete on any series of Drag Race, and it’s expected she’ll make a return if Drag Race UK is commissioned for a fourth season.

At the end of the episode, Veronica Green was sent home after a lip sync against Vanity Milan.

Veronica previously competed on the second season of Drag Race UK but, like Victoria, had to leave the show halfway through when she contracted Covid-19.
