I Tried My Best To Wreck These Hiking Shoes In Iceland. They Still Look Brand New.

When I was asked to review hiking shoes from Merrell – a Gorpcore outdoor brand loved by the likes of Meghan Markle, Central Cee, Bradley Cooper, and Julia Fox – I knew I had to really put them through their paces.

Living in Scotland, I fortunately have plenty of trails to put hiking shoes to the test on, but with Merrell claiming the Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® is the ‘latest innovation in hiking’, a hike up a Munro wasn’t going to cut the mustard.

Enter the rugged, snowy and wet landscape of Iceland.

During my CityHubs excursion to Reykjavik (more on that to come), I’d be hiking up mountains, trekking through valleys to hunt the Northern Lights and stomping through ice fields. Game on, Merrell.

I boldly didn’t even break my pair of Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® in before starting a weekend of outdoor activities and was incredibly surprised that the shoes (which come in a both men’s and women’s version) didn’t rub or pinch at all. This makes sense, considering their FloatPro™ Foam midsole are designed for lightweight comfort that lasts – a feature that Merrell are famous for.

After doing over 40k steps everyday for three days, I was VERY grateful for their 30% increase in foam underfoot.

The hiking shoes also boast a padded collar and a special ‘bellows’ tongue that helps to keep debris out on your adventures (no annoying wee stones in your shoes here).

According to Merrell, in some very techy terms: “Lightweight FlexPlate™ technology provides torsional rigidity, lateral stability, and forefoot flexibility.”

In layman’s terms – my feet felt super secured, my ankles stable and no matter the terrain I marched through or over, at no point did I feel like a stumble was on the cards. I’ve had major reconstructive knee surgery in the past year, so I needed to feel safe. Even walking over ice I had zero worries – these shoes had serious grip.

And thank god for GORE-TEX®. We got stuck in a pretty impressive snow storm and while I was completely soaked through (yes, I maybe didn’t prepare quite well enough), my feet were bone dry. A few of our hikes saw some muddy trails and my Merrells withstood it no problem, nothing a rinse didn’t solve.

Outside of their tech specs, the Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® also come in a whopping 12 different colour ways and while I opted for black with white detailing, you can go for electric blue, orange hues or mustard.

There’s no arguing that Merrell’s Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® look pretty damn good too – you only have to look at some of the styling pictures on the site.

Okay fine, we'll take both.

Merrell UK

Okay fine, we’ll take both.

And on a personal note, one of my favourite things about the Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® – outside of just how damn indestructible they were – is their eco-credentials:

  • 100% recycled laces and webbing
  • 100% recycled breathable mesh lining
  • 100% recycled mesh footbed cover
  • 50% recycled removable EVA foam footbed

Shoes that are good for the environment I’m hiking through? Count me in.

I’ve Finally Found A Toddler Cup That Doesn’t Leave Puddles Of Water Everywhere

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

Over the years I have purchased an embarrassingly large number of baby and toddler cups in the hopes that one day, one of them would not leak. (I’m sadly not kidding, we have a cupboard full of them.)

There have been sippy beakers with fold down nozzles, 360 sippy cups, tip and sip cups, stainless steel jobbies, silicone ones – a collection of vessels picked up in supermarkets and via 3am Amazon purchases.

And all of them have dribbled water out in varying degrees.

So you can imagine my extreme surprise when I discovered a toddler cup that doesn’t leak at all. It might not surprise die-hard fans of the brand, but the cup in question is from Tommee Tippee.

Recently, the baby brand launched a new leakproof range and I was pleased to get my hands on its new weighted straw cup for my one-year-old.

She’d been using a weighted straw cup from another brand but I found every time she put the cup down and left it lying on its side, water would seep out.

The result? Little puddles of wet dotted around our house. Fine on carpet, not-so-great on your nice wooden floors, even worse on your slippery kitchen tiles.

I was pretty sceptical that the cup would be leakproof, given my history (and cupboard full of useless drinking vessels). But incredibly we’ve been trying the Tommee Tippee cup for over a month now and there have been zero spills. Zilch!

Even when she launches the cup to the floor from her high chair: nada! It’s a modern-day miracle.

Not a single drip from the straw.

Natasha Hinde

Not a single drip from the straw.

What wizardry is this? Well, the straw has a two-piece valve which stops water from escaping and somehow actually works.

It also has a flip-down cover to keep the straw nice and clean when not in use (a great feature when you’re out and about and you need to shove it under the buggy quickly).

According to Tommee Tippee, the cup is BPA free, as well as dishwasher and steriliser safe. Big fan of the fact it also comes with a handy brush to clean the straw.

The cups retail at £9.99 which I would argue is well worth the money if you don’t want to water-damaged floors or a soaking wet changing bag.

Happy hydrating!

I Haven’t Paid Full Price For Electronics Since 2016 – Here’s How

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Oh, and FYI – prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

Just after the rising price of bills has been announced, another blow; Forbes speculates that tariffs might increase the cost of consoles too.

That might have got me down if I’d bought full-price electronics in the past nine years (I’ve wanted to gift my partner a PS5 for ages), but I haven’t, so it didn’t.

I have relied on second-hand sites like refurbished electronics company Back Market for ages now.

Not only are they cheaper, but they’re kinder to the planet; and Back Market, my favourite since about 2022, allows you to trade in your old tech for their verified refurbished tech too.

I have previously traded in an unwanted old phone to help me cover the (already discounted) cost of a laptop, for instance.

And while I didn’t do that for the PS5, I was still paying significantly less than full price – like, almost £112 less than full price.

Despite that significant discount, the product’s running as good as new on our also-Back Market-sourced TV.

After all, the company has rigorous rules for their Verified Refurbished products. In the case of gaming consoles, that means they’re given a full reset and data scrub, checked to make sure they’re not stolen or locked, and tested by industry pros.

So it’s no wonder my partner (who’s a sterner judge than me on this front) wouldn’t have known the console was second-hand unless I’d told him; and if he had noticed something off, he’d have been covered by the company’s Verified Refurbished one-year warranty and free 30-day returns policy.

That’s only one impressive tech deal, though. I’ve bought phones, the aforementioned laptop, my smartwatch, and even a hot air styler and coffee machine from the site before; discounts can run as high as 50% compared to new.

I like the fact that I can choose the condition my tech’s in (I wanted an “excellent” laptop, but was more than happy with a “good” smartwatch, for which I don’t have many demands).

As someone who’s been all over refurbished tech pretty much as soon as I started buying my own electronics, though, the thing that keeps bringing me back to Back Market is the quality. I simply haven’t found anywhere else whose refurbished products are as reliably good.

So, whether you’re after beauty or gaming tech or just fancy an upgraded phone, I reckon you can’t save much more for a professionally refurbished deal.

This £12 Amazon Find Gave Me A Third More Usable Oven Space

As Christmas draws near, I’ve been feeling the panic pretty much anyone who’s hosted a big dinner has experienced ― how am I meant to cook everything I need to when I’ve only got one oven?

Don’t get me wrong, I love my slow cooker (where I’m planning to make some spiced apple red cabbage on the day), and I’m not completely against steamed veggies.

But with Yorkies, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast parsnips, spuds, and some kind of fowl in the mix, I genuinely started to lose sleep over how it was all going to come together.

That was, of course, before I spotted this £12 universal oven rack from Amazon, which instantly made all my fears look ridiculous.

It’s got adjustable arms that you can tighten or loosen with the bolts attached to both sides of the rack.

You don’t need any tools to tighten or loosen it ― a simple twist with your thumb and forefinger is more than enough.

It extends from 36cm to 59cm, making it perfect for most ovens (it only took about a minute to make it fit mine).

After I’d fitted it into my oven, my first step was to try a dry run of the Crimbo dinner (basically, I did a roast).

I’ll be honest; I was worried there wouldn’t be enough height in my oven to properly accommodate everything I wanted to include, but by placing the top and bottom racks at the highest and lowest ridges respectively, I got away with a lot more than I thought I would.

So it’s pretty safe to say I’m sold on the addition ― you can nab your own here, if you like.

3 Of The Best Sex Toys I’ve Tried Are 50% Off Right Now – You’ll Never Call Your Ex Again

Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

One of the best perks of my job as a sex and relationships writer is the truly endless number of sex toys I get to review. And trust me – after you’ve tried as many as I have (mum, this is where you stop reading), you learn that not every vibrator is built the same.

However, if you’re a sex toy novice, it can sometimes be quite overwhelming trying to understand what you should buy for your spicy toolkit and what is actually worth the money – bedside drawer space is valuable real estate people!

Well, if you’re looking for some silicone support for your sex life, I’ve discovered not just one, but an entire RANGE of sex toys that will hit the spot (ahem) whether you’re a beginner or seasoned sex toy pro.

SexToys.co.uk has the UK’s largest catalogue of adult toys including vibrators, dildos, and sex toys for all genders, so it’s unsurprising that it’s home to my favourite new collection – The One.

The best selling US sex toy brand is exclusively available at SexToys.co.uk and boasts a variety of toys so perfectly inclusive, there is something for everyone.

When it comes to essentials, The One Power Couple kit is an amazing starting point as it comes with both The One Rose and The One Wand – two must-haves when it comes to achieving different types of clitoral stimulation.

We’ll take both, thanks.

The One Rose is made of body-safe silicone and features innovative pressure wave technology that combines with stimulation to deliver plenty of chills. You can choose from three different speeds and seven patterns of suction and pulsation, giving you plenty of options to work your way through (although, it certainly won’t feel like work).

Meanwhile The One Wand boasts a whopping 10 different vibration speeds and patterns which means it will quickly become one of your favourite pleasure products – it also warms up quickly to body temperature for a more comfortable feel.

And don’t worry about having to stock up on an endless supply of AA batteries anytime soon – both items are rechargeable. The fun doesn’t have to stay limited to the bedroom either as the pleasure-inducing pair are both completely waterproof.

The best bit? Okay, apart from the end result of using them – so technically, the second best bit… they’re super easy to use. A single button powers The One Rose on and off, as well as cycles the product through its 3 speeds and 7 patterns of suction and pulsation.

The kit is a whopping 50% off at the moment too, taking the price down from £159 to just £79.60 – an absolute barg for two top of the range sex toys. The One Rose and The One Wand can also be bought separately – and they’re 40% off at the moment too!

Meanwhile if you’re looking for internal vibrators – The One Thrusting Rabbit is truly good enough to stop you in your tracks from texting your ex. With a shaft and bunny-shaped clitoral stimulator that deliver intense vibrations, this piece gets an added boost from the thrusting function that does the work for you (I am nothing if not a total pillow princess when it comes to solo enjoyment). With 10 different thrusting speeds to choose from, it’s the perfect vibrator to add to your rotation.

Oh – and it’s 51% off.

Sorry To Interrupt, But I Think I Just Found The Prettiest Candles In The UK

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

As autumn creeps in, I’ve been enjoying a lot more “Tavern food”-style evenings in. And in an attempt to romanticise my at-home dinners, I’ve had my eye out for some really, really pretty dinner candles.

Turns out I didn’t need to look further than my own city, though.

Pygmalion London’s hand-poured candles, which are made using vegetable wax, natural dyes and 100% cotton wicks, were first made on Rosanna Philpott’s kitchen table in 2021.

Three years later, the brand (and its offerings) have expanded ― and much as I hate to give up my best-kept decor secret, I reckon you deserve to see what’s on the table (teehee) here.

The candles, which stand at 29cm tall, burn for roughly 10 hours.

And while it seems like a cardinal sin to light, say, this pair of black and white Twiglet candles, even their stumps are gorgeous.

That’s because the waves on candles like the Twiglet and Botanist designs (pictured below) go all the way through the candle, so you won’t lose that gorgeous finish after the first (or second, or eighth) burn.

Whereas some other brands simply paint their candles’ designs onto their surfaces, Pygmalion’s candlemakers create their works of art by hand-pouring naturally dyed vegetable waxes into a candle shape.

That means you won’t be catfished by, say, the stripes in this pair of Humbug candles ― they’ll look as good during your first course as they do hours into your post-dinner DMCs.

Even the more intricate designs of these Terracotta candles should be able to withstand the heat (literally and figuratively).

Like all Pygmalion candles, they come packaged in creamy recycled Italian paper.

Pygmalion London

Speaking of that packaging ― it’s so luxe-looking I’ve considered sending a box to a friend in lieu of flowers before.

You can get pairs like this Highbury set sent to their home, maybe even with a text about grabbing dinner together soon (far better than a wilting carnation, if you ask us).

So if you’re after a present that looks like you found it in a gorgeous, out-of-the-way boutique or just want to be the “I found that brand first!” person in your friend group, I recommend browsing through Pygmalion’s stock.

We’ll never tell…

I Tried Adaptogenic Coffee To See If It Helped My Energy Levels – Here’s My Honest Review

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

If you’ve never heard of adaptogenic coffee before, I understand ― I was in the same boat until about two weeks ago.

But according to London Nootropics, who produce several varieties of the stuff, it’s pretty simple. The term refers to regular java mixed with other ingredients, like mushrooms.

Those extras are the “adaptogens,” the company says.

They’re designed to counterbalance the jitter-inducing effects of caffeine while adding complementary and additional powers to the hot drink: lion’s mane mushroom, found in the brand’s Flow coffee, is meant to “support memory, focus and concentration”.

I’ll be honest: I’m not usually one for supplements or “superfoods,” and I was a little sceptical of the promises adaptogenic coffee made.

London Nootropic’s Mojo coffee, which is “designed for physical endurance, strength and vitality” promised to perk me up without the coffee shakes, while their Zen blend said it would make me feel “calm and alert.”

It all sounded too good to be true.

But looking at the site’s rave reviews (it’s got a 4.8-star average rating from over 8,000 reviews) and considering how terrible my energy levels have been recently, I thought I’d give them a try.

After all, I figured that a sceptic unwilling to test their beliefs is just as bad as a mindless trend follower. Plus, I really liked the branding.

London Nootropics

And?

I got a (pretty) box full of all three coffees (Zen, Flow, and Mojo) late on Monday evening.

Amy Glover

As if to test my decision, I proceeded to have the worst sleep of my life ahead of a very early, very intense 6am workout. So yes, Mojo was my first choice.

If I’m honest, I was craving my beloved French press coffee to get me through the morning ― but in the interest of getting an unadulterated result, I tried the Mojo and nothing else (it’s “designed for physical strength [and] endurance” after all).

I opened the instant sachet and emptied it into my cup. It smelled slightly sweeter and nuttier than regular coffee and was way quicker to make than my usual cafetière kind.

The taste was a little more floral and funky (in a good way – a bit like matcha), thanks to the additions of energy-boosting ginseng and Cordyceps mushroom.

London Nootropics advises adding milk to the coffee, which I didn’t read ― I wish I’d tried it that way because I can imagine it tasting like a hazelnut latte, but it’s still impressively smooth without.

The taste was good, but its effects on my workout were even better. I went from as bedraggled as you can see me below to happily sweaty, despite having had the worst sleep I’d faced this week, my gym session was the best I’ve had in ages.

It seems I’m with the reviewers on this one. I’d give it a solid 9/10 for its energy boost and 8/10 for taste ― extra points for my lack of caffeine headache.

Amy Glover

Later the same day, I was trawling through my inbox when I realised I should probably try their Flow option.

My midday work slump was happening later than usual, but there was no denying it, I needed something to get me through the rest of the day.

Their Flow offering said it’d “help you discover motivation, mental clarity and focus” while also “reducing procrastination” thanks to its lion’s mane and Rhodiola add-ins.

Best believe I tore that sachet open.

Again, the smell was slightly sweeter than I’m used to ― it tasted a bit like rosewater combined with some nutty add-ins, which is nicer than I’m making it sound.

Reviewers were impressed by its brain fog-clearing abilities; again, I’m with them.

I don’t think it led me to become a hyperactive writing machine, but it was enough to get me to manage my tasks well for the rest of the day while feeling pretty good about myself.

Given that I’m usually null and void past three in the afternoon, that’s a huge win. I’d give it a 9/10 for perking me up at work and an 8/10 for the taste.

Amy Glover

It took until Wednesday for me to try the brand’s Zen coffee, which promised to relax, destress and “balance” me.

I thought I’d try it in the evening because I couldn’t un-frazzle myself from a busy day and frankly wanted to try anything I could.

If (like me) facing the smell of coffee last thing is not exactly your ideal routine, good news ― this one had a lovely cocoa aroma, and it tasted a bit like it too.

I reckon if I had to mix milk into one of these, it’d be this one, but as it was I enjoyed the non-bitter, chocolatey taste.

It contains soothing ashwagandha and L-theanine, which reviewers found really calming.

I don’t know if it was the routine, the hot drink, or just taking the time for myself, but I agree again!

My mind usually races for hours after I finish my day, but this helped me to switch off (though you shouldn’t drink anything with caffeine too close to your bedtime).

It’s a 9/10 for taste and an 8.5/10 for calming me, I think.

Amy Glover

So what’s the verdict?

Some of my scepticism has been banished.

A load of the ingredients have been well-researched – there are a lot of literature about lion’s mane’s benefits, the soothing effects of Rhodiola, and the helpful properties of ginseng, though they can be hard to definitively prove.

The brand uses what it calls “barista-grade” coffee in all of its products, which might be why they don’t taste “off,” and they don’t use any artificial flavourings.

The best thing about them is the lack of those coffee jitters and headaches, which I hadn’t realised were so bad until I’d gone without them.

I’d recommend them with one caveat; the sachets can run a little pricey at around £1 a cup or 80p for a sachet in their huge box, which is undeniably bougie.

But if you want to give your health-conscious friend a gift or try the coffee yourself, we have a 15%-off code ― type HUFFPOST at checkout to get the discount until the 15th of October.

Love Hosting But Short On Space? This 6-In-1 Transformer Table Is The Perfect Solution

Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

Transformer Table is one – if not the – furniture brand to have on your radar.

Best known for its namesake product, the Transformer Table is an extendable dining table perfect for anyone who loves to host, no matter how big, or small, your home space is.

About Transformer Table

The Canadian brand first launched in 2016, but it wasn’t until a few years later the modular furniture became an internet sensation.

Just last year Instagram creator Rasha Abdel Reda put the brand, and the signature Transformer Table, on the map.

Rasha shared a video of her assembling, and dismantling, the Transformer Table, which amassed over 300 million views across numerous social media platforms, including over four million likes on Instagram alone. It has since been reported this clip was one of the most viewed videos on the online platform of all time.

The Transformer Table is not only an internet sensation, but a top-rated product with over 1100 glowing reviews, and a sell out success, as thousands of the innovative design sold in 24 hours alone during last year’s Black Friday sale.

The company has created an array of home furnishings in addition to the Transformer Table and Bench, including modular couches and outdoor furniture, which save space, yet look stylish.

According to the brand, every Transformer product is constructed to save space, giving you the freedom to adjust it to any size room and any social occasion.

So, what is so unique about the Transformer Table?

The signature Transformer Table has been such a popular hit because it can expand from just 18 inches up to 10 ft long with ease.

It can become either a side table, or a coffee table with no panels, or be fully extended with five panels to make a dining table to seat 12 people comfortably.

<img class="img-sized__img landscape" loading="lazy" alt="At its largest, the Transformer Table can fit 12 people around” width=”720″ height=”405″ src=”https://www.wellnessmaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/love-hosting-but-short-on-space-this-6-in-1-transformer-table-is-the-perfect-solution-4.jpg”>

It is a sustainable creation, as the table and benches have been created using FSC-certified wood, which has been sourced from responsibly managed forests.

The heavy-duty telescopic mechanism makes it easy to extend, even on your own, and enables this sturdy design to hold up to 340kg of weight.

Shoppers can also choose to add however many panels may suit their needs or space – for example, just one panel will transform the table into a four-seater.

<img class="img-sized__img landscape" loading="lazy" alt="You can choose the number of panels to buy to increase the size” width=”720″ height=”405″ src=”https://www.wellnessmaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/love-hosting-but-short-on-space-this-6-in-1-transformer-table-is-the-perfect-solution-5.jpg”>

The best part is the table has already been fitted, so no assembly is needed. All you have to do is extend the table to your designated size, fit the panels on top, and host.

Once assembled, customers can leave as is to make a permanent feature, extend for when guests arrive, or tuck away, to create a worktop or coffee table, if you are tight for space – it really is a fuss-free, practical and stylish item of furniture, you’ll be amazed you ever lived without.

What colours does it come in?

The Transformer Table comes in five colours; a classic American Mahogany, Siberian Birch, which is a grey hue; Canadian Dark Oak that verges on a deep black; as well as lighter options, such as the Australian Acacia and Farmhouse White, perfect for those opting for a muted colour palette in the home.

The Transformer Table can have a range of uses

How can I buy the Transformer Table?

If you are looking for a stylish storage option to keep any panels you don’t need out of sight, the Transformer Coffee Table Panel Storage Unit and Coffee Table, which retails for £699, is a gamechanger.

Transformer Table has heard our cries for expertly curated bundles to help us save more, and ensure we have all the essential items for our next family gathering.

The four packages include the Practical, the Host, the Gathering and The Family, which feature different seating options, from one extendable bench to two, the table and individual chairs, or a combination of both.

The fun doesn’t stop there as Transformer Table has created a modular couch, which can fetch from £899 for a single coach piece to £7,199 for a 10-piece sofa, as well as a variety of outdoor living furniture to while away the hours on with an Aperol Spritz in hand this summer.
