I Just Learned You Can Subscribe To Dyson Stylers From £6.24 A Month, And I’m Sprinting To The Checkout

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Oh, and FYI – prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

Look, I am human, and I have a lot of hair. That can only mean one thing: like millions of style-conscious people before me, I covet every Dyson styler on the market.

Mind I say “covet,” and not “own”. That’s because the brand’s offerings are notoriously on the pricier side, and while my colleagues assure me it’s worth it, I’d rather not pony up that much cash upfront if I can help it.

So you can imagine how excited I was to read that refurbished tech company Raylo is currently allowing customers to subscribe to quality-checked, refurbished Dyson products, including the Dyson Corrale, from as little as £6.49 a month.

Less money upfront, and less waste? I’m sold (and so, it seems, are the 20,700+ reviewers who gave Raylo a 4.5-star average rating on Trustpilot).

You can pick from 12-month, 24-month, 36-month, and rolling monthly subscriptions. And when your set period runs out, you can choose to upgrade, renew your subscription, or return the device.

Personally, I’ve got my beady eye on the Corrale straightener, which is the only kind that has flexible copper plates which gather your hair together for better control.

It uses less damaging heat on your hair and is completely cord-free (like all refurbished Dyson products on Raylo, it’s rigorously checked to ensure it meets the company’s famously high standards).

Not bad for as low as £6.24 a month, eh?

But that’s not the only styler on the site. You can also nab a refurbished Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, which people who usually find drying their hair a plan-cancel-worthy ordeal have probably craved for years, from £6.66 a month.

And it’s not just styling products: snap up a refurbished Dyson V11 cordless vacuum from £6.99 a month, or a refurbished Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool purifying fan heater from £8.16 a month.

Everything You Need To Know About ‘Ghost Tapping,’ The New Scam That’s Making People Lose Thousands

Tapping your phone to pay has become a common and easy way to purchase treats and gifts –– but it could also be a hidden way for fraudsters to scam you out of money.

That’s because some scammers might be “ghost tapping” and taking advantage of the tap-to-pay and mobile wallet technology when you buy goods on the street, according to a new alert by the Better Business Bureau, a nonprofit that tracks bad advertisements and customer complaints in North America.

In the scam reports, people say they unwittingly thought they were tapping to pay for legitimate purchases, only to later see they were being overcharged hundreds, and in some cases, thousands, of dollars.

In Illinois, a young man with a clipboard claimed that he was raising money for funeral expenses for a family member who had been shot and killed, according to one BBB report.

“I said I could donate $5…I handed my credit card to one of the men, who took my credit card and attempted tap-to-pay on his phone,” the victim recalled. “The interaction felt off to me, so I immediately checked my credit card accounts which both showed multiple charges for $2,496 each to a PayPal account.”

In the reports, scammers would avoid showing buyers what they were tapping for on the mobile pay terminals. That’s why asking to see the screen “to see exactly what’s happening is a great way to protect yourself,” said Melanie McGovern, the BBB’s director of public relations and social media.

‘Ghost Tapping’ Is Rare, But It’s A Good Reminder To Be On Guard

You should always double-check the amount you are being charged for, in order to avoid getting "ghost tapped."

You should always double-check the amount you are being charged for, in order to avoid getting “ghost tapped.”

Don’t be scared to use tap-to-pay at legitimate vendors. To put this alarming scam in perspective, McGovern said her organisation has only gotten less than 10 reports of “ghost tapping” so far. But she is concerned there could be more instances during the holiday season.

During holiday craft fairs, “people have the great convenience of tap-to-pay,” she said. “So…it’s always good to make sure that you’re protecting yourself and you know exactly how much you’ve spent.”

Although it is technically possible for a scammer to “ghost tap” and use your phone’s tap-to-pay feature without you tapping, it would be highly unusual for this to happen without your knowledge. That’s because the near field communication that powers tap-to-pay technology requires a distance of four centimetres or less.

“That’s essentially the length of a paper clip,” said Michael Jabbara, senior vice president and head of payment ecosystem risk and control at Visa. “If you have any awareness of your personal space, if somebody is getting to you within that distance, you are going to kind of be aware of that, and you’re likely going to move away.“

But the idea of “ghost tapping” is a good reminder to always be alert to what’s happening on your credit cards that you upload to your phone.

Scammers “rely on the victims to not check their bank accounts until the end of the month or two months later,” Jabbara said. “My recommendation is always to do your research ahead of time, versus when you’re dealing with a [credit card] dispute.”

There’s An Easy Way To Combat Online Fraud

If you do lose money to this kind of scam, you can dispute a charge or file a consumer complaint with your local attorney general’s office.

But one of the best ways to combat “ghost tapping” ― or any kind of online payment fraud ― is to prevent it. Be vigilant about what is being charged to your phone, and by whom. Here’s how:

Turn on credit card transaction alerts.

Many fraudulent charges will get flagged before being approved by your credit card’s risk signals. But even if somehow that transaction gets approved, “You have the ability to turn on your transaction alerts that can be a ‘first line of defence’ against fraud,” Jabbara said.

That way, you can immediately know if your card made a transaction for a merchant name you don’t recognise for an amount that you wouldn’t have approved.

Always ask for a receipt.

Receipts are helpful proof of purchase if you need to later dispute a charge with your bank or credit card company.

And it’s also a good way to suss out a scammer. McGovern said a vendor telling you “I can’t give you a receipt. [My pay terminal is] broken” is a red flag that someone is scamming you.

These are a few basic but helpful ways you can unmask the ghost, and prevent them from stealing any money you haven’t authorised to spend.

Attention All Cat And Dog Owners – New Customers Get 20% Off This Vet-Approved Pet Food

When it comes to the happiness of our pets, there’s not much we won’t do for them.

From rainy walks to (speaking from personal experience) letting them stomp their heavy paws all over you on the sofa in a bid to find the most perfectly comfortable cuddle spot, we do it all in a bid to give them the very best lives possible.

Their food is a big, if sometimes overlooked, part of making sure they stay happy and healthy. We are what we eat, after all, and cats and dogs are no different.

While you can’t really put a price on the value of their health, if you were to try, you’d probably want that price to fit within a certain budget while not compromising your beloved pet’s well-being.

It’s a delicate tightrope to walk (we’re not exactly made of money), but a Lily’s Kitchen promo code (FIRSTLILY20, which gets you 20% off) might make it a little bit easier.

Lily’s Kitchen is a dog and cat food brand that’s made with natural ingredients like meat, fish, and offal, and formulated with vet-approved recipes.

Lily’s Kitchen has also just dropped a new-and-improved wet cat food range, which includes a new texture and different pack sizes.

The whole idea for the brand began more than 10 years ago when a border terrier called – wait for it – Lily started to suffer from sore skin.

Her owner, Henrietta, tried a host of different treatments, but nothing worked until she started cooking the pooch her own food from scratch.

Just two weeks later, little Lily was back to normal, and Henrietta was left wondering why it was so difficult to find pet food made with quality natural ingredients.

So she enlisted the help of vets and pet nutritionists to help give more dogs and cats food that isn’t just tasty, but healthy too. Why shouldn’t our pets be able to eat as well as us, after all?

If you’d like your pet to get in on this goodness, just use the code FIRSTLILY20 at checkout, and you’ll get 20% off.

I’m A Sweaty Sleeper. This Mattress And Duvet Combo Have Changed Everything

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI – prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

As you will have noticed stepping out your door this morning – it is now bloody cold! The Autumnal equinox has come and gone and summer is well and truly over.

I look forward to spending the next month simultaneously boiling and freezing at various points during the day. (Layering clothing is more complicated than you’d think.) For many of us, the colder weather also prompts a new bedding dilemma.

For some of us this means wondering if now is the time to swap our duvet for a heavier tog, or turning our mattresses over to let them breathe a bit as we enter central heating season.

But for me, the effort and decision is minimal as I’ve finally found the most comfortable mattress ever, and the most convenient and comfortable duvet, as well.

The best duvet for all seasons (and sweat levels)

For those of us who are sweaty sleepers – whether naturally, or perimenopause-induced – the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 Duvet really is a lifesaver.

As an American who has lived in the UK for nearly 20 years, it has taken me a very long time to get used to sleeping without a top sheet. (I tried again recently, and decided I think I actually hate it.)

I could never really get on with the idea of sleeping with a duvet in the warm, late summer months until I started using this duvet. Basically, it does what it says on the tin.

There are two parts to the duvet – one layer for the warmer months that’s only 3.5 tog, and another for the cooler months that’s 7 tog. If you’re terrible at fast maths, that’s a total of 10.5 tog if you’re wanting the warmest option available. Together, the layers become one fluffy, warm, cloud of a duvet. And on their own, still delightful.

The layers simply snap together with the little poppers on the edges of the duvet. This week I swapped the 3.5 tog for the 7 tog, and it’s the perfect weight and warmth for these funny months where it’s still warm in the day, and then brisk in the evenings and early mornings.

I’m also a big fan of sleeping with the window open – what’s more pleasant than a cool room and snuggling under a warm duvet? – so this is ideal for me.

The best mattress for hot sleepers

I usually find mattress shopping to be a stressful event. How do you choose without laying on a hundred different mattresses? How do you really know which ones are comfortable? How can you ever be sure?

This is where honest reviews come in handy, so when I say that I absolutely LOVE the Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress, I genuinely mean it.

This is the first mattress I’ve been able to decide on as a newly single person, and it felt like a very big deal. I got to choose the firmness and size that I wanted – and I have to say I feel like a genius for deciding on this one. I went for a King, and what I love about this mattress is that it has a breathable layer and I don’t feel like I’m being boiled alive by a hot hob when I’m sleeping (which some mattresses genuinely feel like).

It’s hard to believe when you first pull a rolled-up mattress out of a box that it’s going to actually unfurl into something that’s both comfortable and also thick enough to support you in your slumber – but it truly is. Because of how my move into my flat happened, I only had a few hours of the mattress being out of the box before I slept on it, and it was absolutely fine. By the next night, it was heavenly.

I continually find the height of this mattress to be really impressive. It has several fancy layers that I can’t exactly pretend to explain or understand all that they do, but crucially I know I can take off the top layer to have it washed, and that there’s a breathable wool layer, as well.

Firmness wise, this is excellent. As an elder millennial who just turned 40 – and spends a lot of money on physiotherapy – I can confirm that this is neither too hard, nor too soft. It’s comfortable and sturdy for all manner of nocturnal activities, and it doesn’t leave you with new cricks in your neck or kinks in your back when you wake. Ideal.

The combination of the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 Duvet and Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress really have helped give me the most comfortable and supported sleep I’ve had in months. I can’t recommend either enough – particularly if you run hot overnight or like to have options when it comes to your duvet tog.

This Skincare I’d Never Heard Of Gave Me The Smoothest Skin Of My Life

There’s something about the thought of prescription skincare that makes me feel a bit anxious.

I love new lotions and potions (who doesn’t?), but my skin can be a right sensitive Sally – I’ve had some pretty uncomfortable reactions to overly-strong concoctions in the past.

Think redness, burning, tingling; all things you don’t really want your face to experience after trying something new.

Yet since having kids, my skin has changed A LOT. Its lost some of its elasticity and vibrance, becoming a bit dull. I’ve also aged because, well, I’ve gotten older (and had many a sleepless night, which I’m sure doesn’t help). There are more lines cropping up here and there. My skin doesn’t feel as tight as it once did.

I’ve been lucky in a lot of respects as I haven’t had bad breakouts or issues with pigmentation, both of which can crop up after having babies (cheers, hormones).

But it’s fair to say my usual skincare combo of CeraVe cleanser and a Beauty Pie moisturiser had been working very hard – and my skin still felt like it was left wanting.

I figured a change was in order. But where to even begin? I don’t have time to visit a dermatologist (nor the money, let’s face it).

I was intrigued by Dermatica’s online skin consultation offering, particularly as they provide personalised skincare tailored to your skin’s very specific needs (after you fill out an easy online questionnaire – it took me about 5-10 minutes in total).

You simply explain what you want to treat – whether that’s acne, melasma, rosacea or something else. In my case, I just wanted less tired mama and more glow get ’em.

As part of the online consultation process you also share information about your skin and what you’ve reacted to in the past. It’s pretty extensive – it’s also worth noting they cater to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, so if you let them know they can tailor your products accordingly.

Dermatica’s team then provides you with a specially formulated product designed for you, as well as other key products to help you achieve your skin goal(s).

In my case, I wanted something that was anti-ageing and would help give me a bit of a glow. I received their:

  • Caring squalane cream cleanser – a super luxurious cleanser that melts off makeup, doesn’t dry you out, and leaves skin really soft.
  • Azelaic acid/niacinamide lotion, which I’ve been applying after cleansing each night. I was really worried this was going to bring me out in a rash but it didn’t.
  • Nourishing ceramide + peptide moisturiser, which I use morning and night. It’s just the right amount of nourishing without being greasy.
  • Vitamin C 15% fresh batch ascorbic acid – I’ve been using this after cleansing in the morning and before applying moisturiser. It does tend to leave my skin a bit tight but I heap the moisturiser on after and it seems to balance it all out.

And that’s my routine.

My skin definitely feels brighter and tighter than it was.

Natasha Hinde

My skin definitely feels brighter and tighter than it was.

Even in the space of just a few days after using these four products, I noticed my skin felt brighter, tighter and the smoothest it’s ever been. (Or at least, the smoothest it’s been as an adult.)

Honestly, my cheeks are rivalling my toddler’s right now for softness. I can’t stop stroking them. I’ve even had compliments from strangers (which never happens!).

I was very dubious about how well an online consultation could work – and how accurate it would be – however I’m pleased to report I’m a convert. Now to see if it stands the test of time…

In the meantime, if you want to try it for yourself, your first month of personalised skincare should be £24.99, but is currently £2.90 – so really, what are you waiting for?

This Is The Anti-Ageing Tool Celebrities Actually Keep In Their Beauty Kit

Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

We’ve written before at HuffPost UK about the serums and creams celebs like Dua Lipa use to achieve their glowing skin.

But let’s be real here ― not every A-lister’s flawless dermis comes from a bottle, plastic surgeon and aesthetic director of LYMA Dr Graeme E. Glass says.

Not only have celebs like Sienna Miller, Cynthia Enviro, Kate Hudson, and Hannah Waddingham used the brand’s at-home laser technology, but the surgeon also says “more men are opting for cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments” at his clinic.

Male A-list users of the LYMA laser include Cillian Murphy, Eddie Redmayne, Barry Keoghan, and Rége Jean-Page, the brand shares.

So what exactly is a LYMA laser, and how does it help to give you a celeb glow?

LYMA promises its ‘completely painless’ laser will give your skin all the benefits of an in-office treatment, including improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, skin elasticity, blemishes, texture, tone and more. The best bit? It does all of the above in just three minutes of daily use.

Its breakthrough technology, created with plastic surgeons, geneticists and scientists diffuses micro-dots of invisible light over a large surface – Safe for all skin tones, (which is far from a given among laser products), LYMA’s flagship and PRO versions of their product can be used for your legs and arms as it is for your forehead and jawline.

Lyma red light laser

LYMA says it is the close proximity to its laser’s infrared beam that contributes to skin regeneration.

Its lower temperature helps to prevent damage and your dermis converts that light to energy, preventing the breakdown of your extracellular matrix ― leaving you with skin that’s hydrated from within.

The low-level laser therapy, which is gentle enough to use at home, has also been proven to increase the amount of oxygen and nutrients available to your skin.

The result? Denser, firmer, smoother, and healthier-looking skin over time, LYMA says.

The portable tool is also cordless and small enough to fit in your handbag, making what’s set to be the most effective part of your daily skincare routine even easier to take with you when you travel.

And in even better news, for a limited time, when you buy the LYMA Laser or Laser PRO, you can bag yourself a free one-month LYMA Supplement starter kit (which is normally worth £199) – giving you skin support on the surface and cellular support from within.

LYMA Supplement is made up of eleven gold standard nutraceutica ingredients and promises to help with sleep and stress levels as well as your skin. The Starter Kit also includes a free hand hammered solid copper storage vessel.

Crimpit Review: This £15 Toastie Maker Made WFH Lunches Fun Again

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

I rejoice in recipes, crave cooking, and find pleasure in planning meals ― with the exception of lunch.

It’s just such a nothing-y, unpredictable meal, isn’t it? I never know how much time I’ll really have to scoff the meal down; I’m always too mentally overwhelmed to work out what I’m actually craving, never mind a meal I can make quickly, easily, and with minimal mess.

I’m a long-time “fancy sandwich” advocate for work-from-home lunches, but the wrap and sando rotation runs a little flat and I can’t be bothered to whip out and clean a panini press of a Tuesday afternoon.

This gadget promised to expand my selection of mundane ingredients into the bases for “calzones, burritos, enchiladas, kebabs, and pasties” (don’t mind if I do).

And the instructions were simple; make the wrap, place it in your microwave, press the edges until the wrap becomes “sealed”, and then cook the resulting parcel of deliciousness anywhere you like (I opted for an air fryer).

You might have noticed that the wrap was a little big for the device at the start, but ripping off the excess bread (I chose a huge version; most wraps would fit) proved surprisingly satisfying and delicious.

Once I pushed the lid of the gadget down on the just-warmed wrap, I held it there for about ten seconds.

I was suitably impressed by how well the seal held. It was more than a match for my air fryer basket, which led to a crispy, deep-filled calzone-like cheese pocket in minutes (mmm…).

Once I tried the first one, I knew I couldn’t stop – thoughts of pepperoni pockets, chicken tikka mock-“pasties,” and midweek mini-calzones like this one are just too tempting.

And the tiny gadget, which takes up next to no space in my kitchen drawer, can be used as easily on a sweet treat as it can a regular lunch too (I’ll admit I’ve since used it for a decidedly unhealthy chocolate spread and banana concoction, rolled in cinnamon sugar while still hot).

So, I’m not saying you *have* to try the easy-clean, low-effort, low-space-consuming tool – I just reckon that if, like me, you can never plan what to eat for lunch and have too little space or time to use a huge toastie maker, it’s well worth a go.

After all, it hasn’t earned that many five-star reviews for no reason. Plus, it’s down from £19.99 to £14.99 now too (race you to checkout).

Nectar Duvet Review: Is This The Best All-Year Duvet For Hotel-Level Comfort?

As I approach the big 3-0, I’ve found myself developing an unexpected obsession with my bedding. Gone are the days of just throwing on whatever’s clean; now, I genuinely care about having my sheets look sleek, elegant, and, dare I say, wrinkle-free.

Enter the Nectar Duvet, which has absolutely transformed my bed into a sanctuary of sophistication.

I’ve been sleeping with this duvet for just over a month now (tough gig, testing duvets), and I can confidently say it’s been a game-changer.

The Nectar Duvet has a way of elevating the entire aesthetic of my bedroom. No more waking up to creased sheets that make me feel like I’m living in university halls. The duvet is so smooth and perfectly puffed, giving my bed an effortlessly neat appearance. I don’t even have to break out the iron anymore (honestly, I was starting to consider it!).

The secret to this duvet is its Smartfil® technology and Modal fabric, which is derived from natural wood pulp. This combination makes it incredibly light, breathable, and soft, making it the perfect choice for the spring season.

Modal helps to wick moisture away from the body, allowing you to sleep in total temperature-controlled comfort and wake up feeling refreshed.

I’ve found it keeps me warm enough during cooler nights while still feeling light and fluffy enough that it doesn’t overheat me. It strikes the perfect balance for year-round comfort.

Aside from the duvet itself, the service and delivery were top-notch. I received the duvet within just two days of placing the order—impressive, considering the speed and efficiency of the delivery.

The whole process was smooth, with timely updates from the delivery service every step of the way. It made the experience all the more pleasant and hassle-free.
In short, I couldn’t recommend the Nectar Duvet more. It’s made my bed look elegant, kept me cozy, and saved me from ever considering ironing my sheets again. I can’t believe I even thought about it. This duvet is worth every penny and truly lives up to its promises.

This £15 Sunscreen-Primer Is The 1 Beauty Product I Can’t Live Without

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI – prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

In my twenties, I applied SPF on holidays and if it was a particularly hot day back home. But when my partner, then in his early 30s, was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and needed surgery to remove it, I knew I needed to wake up and wear the damn sun cream every single day.

After trying many different products – lots of which triggered breakouts, some of which dried my skin – I finally took a punt on Beauty Pie’s Featherlight SPF 50/Primer hybrid (£25, or £15 for members). And I haven’t looked back since.

The product, made in Switzerland, contains ingredients to “help fight inflammation and sun damage”. It’s known as a non-comedogenic SPF, meaning the lightweight formula shouldn’t clog pores. I can confirm it doesn’t.

I’ve also never had sunburn on my face while wearing it, so I’m guessing (/hoping) it’s doing the trick in the sun damage department.

I tend to apply the SPF after Beauty Pie’s triple hyaluronic acid deep moisture miracle cream (£45, or £22 for members) and the result is lusciously luminous skin that feels silky smooth.

The primer adds a bit of a glow that no other skincare product seems to offer me and my typically dull skin. It’s not greasy, or streaky. Makeup goes on a treat, too.

There is not a day that goes by when I don’t use it – even those days when I’m sat at home, makeup free, I make sure that I slather this on my face after showering.

It’s pretty watery – so be careful when you squeeze the bottle – but it glides onto the skin wonderfully, leaving your face feeling hydrated and glowy.

There are 3,102 reviews (and counting) on Beauty Pie’s site. Here’s a snippet of what people are saying about the Featherlight SPF:

“Lovely product, non greasy and perfect under make up. Thoroughly recommend this product.”

“This was first given to me as a gift a few years ago and I have used it ever since. I golf and have had no sun damage since using this lovely, light cream.”

“This is my second purchase of this item. I love that it properly hydrates my skin and most importantly, it doesn’t leave white streaky marks!”

“Spent ages looking for a SPF that I’m not allergic to and isn’t greasy, this one is perfect.”

If there was only one product I was allowed to take on a desert island, this would be it – not even the Collection eyeliner I’ve been buying and wearing on repeat since the early 2000s could rival it.

And at £15 for a bottle that lasts roughly six months (maybe longer, depending on how liberally you apply it), I’m wondering why you’re still reading this article and not buying a basket full for yourself…
