Boris Johnson May Have Repeatedly Misled Parliament Over Partygate, MPs Say

Boris Johnson may have misled parliament on multiple occasions over whether lockdown rules were broken in Downing Street, MPs have found.

If found guiltily, the former prime minister could be suspended or expelled from the Commons and even trigger a by-election in his seat.

In a damning report published on Friday, the Commons privileges committee said the breaches by No.10 staff “would have been obvious” to Johnson.

“There is evidence that the House of Commons may have been misled.” the MPs said, listing a series of incidents.

Johnson is due to defend himself in front of the committee in person later this month.

Parliament

The committee is not investigating whether rules were broken or not, the police have already concluded they were, but specifically whether Johnson lied to parliament about it.

As prime minister, Johnson repeatedly told the Commons that no Covid rules had been breached in No.10. But he was later fined by police for attending an event.

The MPs said: “The evidence strongly suggests that breaches of guidance would have been obvious to Johnson at the time he was at the gatherings.

“There is evidence that those who were advising Johnson about what to say to the press and in the House were themselves struggling to contend that some gatherings were within the rules.”

The committee said there was evidence “a culture of drinking in the workplace in some parts of No.10” continued “after Covid restrictions began”.

Parliament

Today’s report is not the committee’s final conclusion, but if it decides Johnson did mislead parliament it can recommend punishments such as suspension or expulsion from the Commons. MPs would need to vote for this.

In response, Johnson said the report showed he had been “vindicated” and maintained it had been his “honest belief” that no rules were broken.

Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader, said the report was “absolutely damning” of Johnson.

She said if Johnson is found to have misled parliament, Rishi Sunak must make clear “his career is over”.

It comes one day after it was announced Sue Gray, the senior civil servant who authored the partygate report, has quit government to become Keir Starmer’s chief of staff.

Johnson suggested her decision to take a job with Labour calls into question the impartiality of her report, which contributed to his downfall.

But MPs on the privileges committee said it own report is “not based on the Sue Gray report” but on evidence provided directly to it by witnesses.

The committee is chaired by former Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman, but it has a Tory majority.

Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards Launches Own Fashion Collection – And It’s Perfect For Your Spring Wardrobe Refresh

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

Loose Women panellist Brenda Edwards has launched her debut fashion collection with QVC.

Brenda’s foray into the fashion sector with her new range, Be U By Brenda Edwards, is perfectly timed as spring is just around the corner, so shoppers can revamp their wardrobe in time for the warmer months and any upcoming holidays.

The 53-year-old singer and presenter previously worked with the video commerce retailer to curate her own edit back in 2022.

Now, she has gone one step further and followed in the footsteps of fellow Loose Women star Ruth Langsford to launch her very own fashion line, which has been two years in the making.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her latest venture, Brenda said: “In the Be U collection you can expect lots of bold beautiful prints, lovely bright colours and clothes that are designed to make you feel as good in yourself as you will look wearing them.

“I want women to feel that they can be adventurous with their clothing and not restrict themselves. The clothing in my collection isn’t restrictive either and it works with any shape/size.

“I want everyone to be confident in their bodies and know that they look good while also feeling comfortable in what they’re wearing. I put a lot of myself into this range, so when you wear it I want you to feel like you can Be U.”

Brenda was keen to launch a spring/summer capsule because she believes it is the perfect time to inject colour into your wardrobe, be playful with prints, which she has designed herself, and fabrics.

She continued: “I love spring because you can really experiment with colour and vibrant prints. In the collection we have used lightweight materials that will blow in the spring air and put a spring in your step.

“I’ve learnt a lot about how much work goes into the material and colour choices, and even the process of making my own prints. I was surprised to learn that different types of materials are better for different things, with certain materials make some designs look totally different. This collection has been two years in the making so the lead in time was also a huge surprise.”

Brenda is excited to see her creations come to life with shoppers wearing her designs – but not as excited as we are to wear them.

“I can’t wait to see lots of ladies walking down the street wearing clothes from my collection”, she shared.

Brenda has hinted this is only the beginning of her collaboration with QVC, as she has teased more collections could be in the making.

Brenda added: “It will be great to continue working on the range and I’m looking forward to getting feedback from the customer so that the collection can keep growing and evolving with the customer at the heart.”

Brenda’s Be U collection is super inclusive, as the garments come in a range of sizes, from extra small to 4XL, to suit every body shape and occasion.

The range – including clothing, jewellery items and other accessories – are vibrant, bold, super flattering, versatile and affordable.

The 16-piece collection features leather jackets, bright blazers, patterned co-ords and easy-to-wear jumpsuits, which are Brenda’s “number one, go-to item”.

Brenda’s clothing creations are made from lightweight fabrics, which are breathable, yet not restrictive, and perfect to see wearers through the warmer seasons.

The Be U jewellery items vary from gold to silver creations, and span across stone bangles, rings to pendants, as well as hoop earrings, and pendant necklaces, which you can stack, or wear solo to jazz up any outfit.

Whether you are looking to give your wardrobe a complete overhaul, invest in one statement piece to give your closet a new lease of life, or an accessory to complete your favourite outfit, there is something for everyone.

The Be U By Brenda Edwards collection ranges in price from £30 to £90, and are available to shop online exclusively at QVC from 3 March.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as new customers will be able to shop Brenda’s collection for less.

Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress Was Almost An Entirely Different Colour And Vibe

If anyone utters the words Princess Diana, you know her iconic revenge dress will come up in conversation. You cannot talk about the late princess without talking about the picture of her walking out of that car in that black Christina Sambolian dress.

The moment was also recreated in the fifth season of The Crown, with Elizabeth Debicki emulating the late royal.

The dress was dubbed the revenge dress because of the fact that she chose to wear it on the day the then-Prince Charles admitted to having an affair with his now-wife Camila Parker Bowles on national television.

But as it turns out, the iconic revenge dress was actually supposed to be white in colour.

The designer recalled her interaction with the late Princess and how the dress came to be in the new book Diana: A Life in Dresses by ACC Art Books.

“It was 2 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon in September,” Christina Sambolian recalled in the book, “I thought that the woman looked familiar. We all laughed when we realised it really was her.”

After the princess shopped at her store, she told the designer: “I want a special dress for a special occasion. It doesn’t matter if it is short or long. It has to be something special.”

The original sketch of the ‘revenge dress’

Sambolian then drew a few sketches on a piece of paper. The dress was revealing, quite short and showed some skin.

Diana was not sure about it and thought it was a bit risky, recalls the designer.

“I said: “Why not be daring?” But she wanted everything more covered up, longer and the neck higher. The dress was brave and revealing,” she recalled.

”Finally, she said yes to the style – then we moved on to the colour. I had black in my mind, but she wanted cream,” said Sambolian.

“To me, Diana was a black and white sort of person. That was the way she was – there were no grey areas. I thought of black for the colour. I thought of her in a sophisticated way. I didn’t like her in the pale pinks and blues with lots of beading,” she added.

It took two dressmakers more than 60 hours to make the dress. For three years, Diana did not wear the dress. The designer had lost hope that her dress would ever be worn by the Princess.

“Three years went by and she hadn’t worn it,” she said. “I was very disappointed. Then I realised she had been waiting for the right occasion. She looked like a beautiful black bird in it.”

But then that fateful day came when Diana had to attend the Serpentine Ball. She had originally planned to wear a Valentino gown to the event. But when she found out that Valentino had rung up the media, telling them that the Princess would be wearing the brand’s dress to the Ball, she was furious.

So she decided to go with the now iconic black dress she will always be remembered for.

And there you have it. That is how the revenge dress was born, which would be emulated by many, many people for decades and generations to come.

Boris Johnson Goads Rishi Sunak Over Poor Tory Poll Ratings

Boris Johnson has goaded Rishi Sunak over the prime minister’s poll ratings, as he delivered his first public speech in the UK after being forced out of No.10.

Speaking in Westminster on Thursday afternoon, Johnson said it was “very unlikely” he would “need to do anything big in politics again”.

But he indicated he would continue to speak out on issues including Brexit, the need to level up the north of England and to help Ukraine.

And the former PM said: “When I stepped down we were only a handful of points behind the Labour Party.”

When Johnson announced his resignation on July 7, 2022, YouGov polling showed Labour on 40% and the Tories on 29% — an 11 point lead.

The latest survey from YouGov has put Labour on 46% and the Tories on 23% — 23 points ahead.

On September 29, 2022, YouGov released a shock poll that showed Labour had surged to a 33-point lead over the Conservatives amid the market turmoil caused by Liz Truss’ mini-Budget.

When Truss quit as prime minister, Johnson mounted a dramatic challenge to Sunak in a bid to return to No.10.

In the end he pulled out of the contest after deciding he did not have enough support from Tory MPs to lead a stable government.

But rumours in Westminster that Johnson still hopes to make a comeback have not gone away, stoked by allies who want him to return.

Asked today about his future plans, Johnson said: “I think it very, very unlikely that I will need to do anything big in politics again.”

He also devoted a large section of his speech to trashing Sunak’s new Brexit deal, which he said would be “very difficult” for him to vote for.

Boris Johnson Says Rishi Sunak’s Brexit Deal Doesn’t ‘Take Back Control’

Boris Johnson has said Rishi Sunak’s new Brexit deal does not “take back control” from the EU and will be unlikely to vote for it.

Speaking in Westminster on Thursday afternoon, the former prime minister was highly critical of the so-called Windsor Framework.

“I am going to find it very difficult to vote for something like this myself,” he said in his first public comments since the deal was agreed.

“I believe we should have done something different.”

Sunak has struck a new agreement with the the EU which seeks to remove post-Brexit trade barriers by creating a new system for the flow of goods into Northern Ireland.

Johnson said he had “mixed feelings” about the deal, adding “this is not about the UK taking back control” as Brexit “won’t be” done with it.

“Although there are easements this is really a version of the solution that was being offered last year to Liz Truss when she was foreign secretary,” he said.

“This is the EU graciously unbending to allow us to do what we want to do in our own country, not by our laws but by theirs.

“Who votes for the people who decide these rules… no one in England or Scotland or Wales and no one in Northern Ireland.”

Sunak has said MPs in the Commons will be given a vote on his new deal.

Keir Starmer has pledged Labour support, which means here is little chance of the prime minister losing the vote even if some eurosceptic Tory MPs vote against him.

The DUP, which is currently boycotting the Stormont powersharing institutions in Northern Ireland, has said it will study the deal before giving its verdict.

This Top Performance Dog Coat Is An Absolute Winter Saviour For Your Pooch

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

As humans we often find ourselves contemplating whether we actually need another coat in the closet when winter hits, but what about our furry friends?

Considering dogs can’t make that decision to stock up on insulating layers, or buy themselves fleece thermals, we have to be extra mindful when shopping outerwear for them – and not solely based on whether it looks cute, which is where Non-Stop Dogwear lends a helping paw!

The brand prides itself on comfortable, practical and warm activewear for you and your pet to wear on your daily strolls, so all the family can enjoy non-stop fun when faced with the elements.

And now Non-Stop Dogwear recently upgraded its Glacier jacket, and launched the Glacier Jacket 2.0, which is bigger and better than before.

This windproof and water repellent jacket provides extra warmth for your pooch, and also protects against rough vegetation they may find themselves exploring when outdoors. The functional design is lightweight and soft against your dog’s body, while still keeping them warm and dry without restricting their movement when they go bounding through the park or fields.

<img class="img-sized__img portrait" loading="lazy" alt="Non-Stop Dogwear's jackets keeps your dog warm and happy, but still able to move as much as they like” width=”720″ height=”960″ src=”https://www.wellnessmaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/this-top-performance-dog-coat-is-an-absolute-winter-saviour-for-your-pooch-3.jpg”>

Non-Stop Dogwear

Non-Stop Dogwear’s jackets keeps your dog warm and happy, but still able to move as much as they like

This ergonomic creation is made from PrimaLoft Insulation Eco, a fabric that is also used in sportswear for humans – because if it’s good enough for us, it’s good enough for our pets, right? The reinforced seams ensure this jacket is sturdy even on the most playful pups, and it’s breathable so your barking best friend does not overheat.

Non-Stop Dogwear has all bases covered with the Glacier jacket 2.0: it has drainage holes on the chest to prevent water from entering the jacket and getting trapped between their fur and outerwear, which can stop them from warming up and cause health concerns.

The updated version also has new panels to fit your dog’s body, no matter their size, and leg straps, which, combined with the cinch points, bungee cord adjustment and chest strap, means the jacket fits like a glove, but also stays in place. There is a dedicated leash opening, so you can still attach a harness, collar and lead with ease, and reflective printing for your pet’s safety.

We love that the Glacier Jacket 2.0 is compact and easily packed away after use, or stored neatly in the storage bag, which is perfect when on the go.

It can also be worn in all weather conditions, whether your dog is a daily walkies type or an extra active pooch who accompanies you on hikes or biking in the rain or snow.

<img class="img-sized__img landscape" loading="lazy" alt="Non-Stop Dogwear works in all conditions – can we have one?” width=”720″ height=”479″ src=”https://www.wellnessmaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/this-top-performance-dog-coat-is-an-absolute-winter-saviour-for-your-pooch-4.jpg”>

The Glacier jacket 2.0 comes in three colours: purple, black and orange, and as navy with teal and red detailing, all available in sizes 24-90cm back length.

The price varies depending on the colourway and size you select, as the cost ranges from £78.99 to £86.99, but considering it’s a practical for all pets when the winter cold really sets in, it’s an investment your dog will be thankful for.

However, it’s not only your dog’s length and size, or the colourway you need to consider when investing in Non-Stop Dogwear, but the breed of your pooch, their coat, health and age. When you layer a dog in a jacket, it is vital the design is not too tight or pushes down on their natural layer of fur, so the natural insulating abilities of their coat still function.

Some breeds have a thick double coat of their own and can acclimatise to the cold temperatures and do not necessarily need another layer of insulation, in comparison to short-haired dogs who would benefit. Having said that, when resting, or in extreme cold, all breeds can benefit from a little extra layer to protect them from the elements.

And If you can’t tell by their fur, the telltale signs a jacket is needed is if they are shivering, any changes in behaviour, or when they lift a paw off the ground – who knew it wasn’t just to say hello?

Why Is The DUP Hesitant About Rishi Sunak’s Brexit Deal?

Rishi Sunak has won praise after chasing the hard yards to get the EU to redraw the controversial Northern Ireland protocol. Now, he has to convince his party to fall behind it.

It may well be an opportunity he relishes, given that so far, the noises coming from Tory MPs about the “Windsor Framework” agreed with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen seem to be broadly positive.

However, the road ahead is not entirely hurdle-free.

The prime minister will be looking to secure the approval of arguably one of the most important voices in the Brexit debate — Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which remains concerned about aspects of the deal.

The DUP has close ties with the Brexiteers of the Tory backbench European Research Group (ERG), some of whom are waiting for their judgment before casting their own verdict.

Here, HuffPost UK explains what the DUP’s position on the deal is and why it matters.

What Is The Windsor Framework?

It is a new deal struck by Rishi Sunak and the EU that will replace the Northern Ireland protocol.

At the heart of the arrangement is the idea of green lanes and red lanes. British goods staying in NI will use the green lane at ports, meaning they face minimal paperwork.

Goods travelling into Ireland will use the red lane, meaning they face customs processes and other checks at Northern Ireland ports.

A key part of the deal is an emergency “Stormont brake” on changes to EU goods rules that can be pulled by the NI Assembly.

Time and Space

The DUP has repeatedly said it will take time to consider the substance of the deal before deciding whether to back it.

That process could take weeks, or even months, the party has warned.

However, there is an incentive to come to a conclusion quickly.

The DUP is a joint partner with Sinn Fein in Stormont’s power-sharing execruive that is crucial to the functioning of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Since February last year, the DUP has boycotted the assembly in protest at the previous Northern Ireland protocol, which Sunak has now replaced to address concerns around sovereignty, disrupted trade and the application of EU law.

Without the DUP’s participation, Stormont cannot function and people in Northern Ireland have effectively been left without a government.

While Sunak has said the DUP should be given “time and space” to consider the agreement, he made it clear that restoring Stormont was of vital importance.

Sunak told an audience in Northern Ireland earlier this week: “The framework is a fantastic agreement that delivers on all the things people care about. So now I hope that they do see it and see that and they can find a way to come back together.”

“It’s what you deserve.”

What are the DUP’s concerns?

The so-called “Stormont brake” has been hailed as the “rabbit in the hat” in the Windsor Framework.

With it, the UK says the Northern Ireland Assembly will effectively be allowed to “block” new EU laws from applying in the country without cross-community support — a key demand of unionists.

Sunak lauded the brake as an “incredibly powerful” mechanism that would allow the people of Northern Ireland to have “control of their own destiny”.

If Assembly members, called MLAs, dislike changes to EU goods laws then 30 of them can sign a petition to trigger a vote to stop the rules from taking effect.

If the vote passes with a majority of nationalist and unionists, the brake will be pulled and the UK government will have the power to veto any new or amended EU law.

But there are some concerns about potential discrepancies in how the UK and EU interpret the brake, after the EU described it as an “emergency mechanism” that could be used “in the most exceptional circumstances, as a last resort”.

Sammy Wilson, the DUP’s chief whip, told Times Radio that the Stormont brake “is not really a brake at all” and that it was just a “delaying mechanism”.

He said the UK government would have the final say over whether to veto a law, which he said it would be reluctant to do due to being “fearful of the consequences of trade for the rest of the United Kingdom”.

“The price of that would be that the EU would take retaliatory action,” he said, adding that he suspects the Stormont brake would therefore be “fairly ineffective”.

Splits in the DUP

According to the Times, division is emerging between the DUPs’ members in Stormont — who are keen to get the assembly back up and running — and the party’s MPs in Westminster, who are taking a harder and more sceptical line against the deal.

Although he said that changes may need to be made to the deal and that “key issues of concern remain”, the DUP’s leader, Jeffrey Donaldson did also hail the “significant progress” that Sunak had achieved.

But other key players have spoken out against the deal, with Ian Paisley Junior saying it did not “cut the mustard” and was likely to be rejected.

The DUP will also be conscious of the threat it faces from Jim Allister, the founder and leader of Traditional Unionist Voice in the lead up to the local elections in May.

Allister, a former member of the DUP, will be looking to brand any talk of compromise as a sell out and a betrayal.

What has the ERG said?

Mark Francois, the chairman of ERG, said the group’s “star chamber” of lawyers were now poring over the deal and that it would aim to come to a conclusion “within a fortnight”.

He said he had sought assurances that he “won’t find any nasty surprises” when analysing the deal.

Does Sunak need the DUP to get the deal through parliament?

Technically Sunak does not need the support of the DUP, or even the ERG, to get the deal through the Commons after Labour confirmed it would vote with the government.

However, the prime minister will want to get the DUP on board as that will reduce any potential Tory rebellion. If he does not, the party could use its powerful voice to undermine the deal at every opportunity — something he will want to avoid at all costs.

Your Vitamin D Is About To Run Dry – Experts Say We Need To Take Action Now

Remember when you were younger and your mum had to force you to take your vitamins? Yes, she was annoying but she may have been on to something. The use of supplements and vitamins is a widely debated topic but there is one vitamin we all do need: vitamin D.

25% of Brits suffer from a vitamin D deficiency and according to Becky Graham, a qualified nutritionist at leading vitamin water producer Get More Vits, that number seems to be growing.

Our daily intake of vitamin D should be 10ug, the UK Government says. February tends to be the month of the year when our intake is depleted so now is the time to make sure we’re getting enough time in the sun and the right nutrients.

“Exposure to sunlight during the summer months provides us with the bare minimum levels of vitamin D, but during the winter months, with reduced access to sunlight as well as the position of the UK in the Northern hemisphere, means it’s impossible to get enough,” Graham says.

Graham continues: “If you add to this our predominantly indoor lifestyle and liberal use of sunscreen, then it’s no surprise that around 25% of the British population are deficient in Vitamin D.”

People who are particularly at risk include vegans and vegetarians, pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and young children, people suffering from obesity, the elderly, people with darker skin, and those who regularly cover their skin.

Looking to increase your vitamin D intake?

1. Spend as much time outside as possible

A study looking at Caucasian adults between the ages of 20-60 in the UK looked at how much time we need to spend outdoors to obtain enough vitamin D levels year-round without being sunburnt.

They found that nine minutes of direct sun exposure on the forearms and legs every day, specifically at lunchtime, were needed during the months between March and September for 25(OH)D levels to remain at the required ≥25 nmol/L throughout the winter.

Whilst another study found those with darker skin need 25 minutes per day during the same months. People over 60 are at a disadvantage, as they have a reduced capacity to manufacture vitamin D in the skin, so supplementing is advised.

2. Eat vitamin D-containing foods

Dietary sources that include the active form of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) are usually from animal origins such as beef liver, oily fish, mackerel, salmon, trout, tuna, sardines, cod liver oil, egg yolks and cheese.

There is a small amount of vitamin D also found in pork, chicken, and turkey. To get enough to meet daily requirements, you would need to eat one large salmon fillet per day or 10 eggs, it is almost impossible to get enough from food alone.

3. Put your mushrooms in the sun!

Vitamin D plant-based sources include mushrooms and tofu, however, they contain the less active form vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and at lower levels. Like humans, mushrooms can also manufacture vitamin D in their skin through exposure to UV rays.

Wild mushrooms tend to have a higher vitamin D content than those that are commercially grown due to their access to sunlight, but you can increase their vitamin D content, so put them in a sunny spot like your windowsill.

4. Eat fortified foods

Due to low levels of vitamin D naturally available from dietary sources, many foods have vitamin D added such as dairy milk, plant milks, orange juice, fortified spreads, and breakfast cereals.

This is usually clearly labelled on the packaging, so it’s worth adding them to your shopping list.

5. Take a supplement

Most of us would benefit from supplementing with vitamin D, but you can get more nutritional bang for your buck by choosing supplements that contain vitamin D3, which is 87% more potent than the plant form of vitamin D2.

Although the government recommends 10ug/400IU per day, it is important to know that this is the level given to prevent disease rather than for optimal health. Supplements contain around 1000IU – 4000IU, which is also considered safe for humans.

Those with a diagnosed deficiency may need a higher dose of vitamin D. Your GP can check your levels with a blood test and there are also private testing options available that you can do at home.

Here Are All The Strikes That Are Happening Across The UK In March

Another month, another set of public sector strikes.

This week, tens of thousands of teachers across England and Wales will walk out over three days in the long-running dispute with the government over pay and working conditions.

The strike action kicks off today as teachers across the north of England walk out, meaning the majority of schools will either close or offer restricted access to pupils.

It will be followed by further industrial action by teachers in the Midlands and eastern regions in Wednesday and in Wales and the south of England on Thursday.

On March 15, teachers across England and Wales will strike again.

Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has branded the strike action “unforgivable”, arguing that children deserved to be in class following the shock of the coronavirus pandemic.

But Kevin Courtney, the joint general secretary of the National Education Union (NEU), which is representing striking teachers, said staff taking industrial action for a “high moral purpose” and to “get the government to invest in this generation of children”.

But over the month ahead, it is not just teachers who are walking out over pay.

HuffPost UK takes you through all the strikes that will hit the public in March.

Health and ambulance workers (most of England)

The GMB union said 10,000 of its members, including paramedics, emergency care assistants, call handlers and other staff, will walk out on March 6.

Unite members employed by different ambulance trusts will be striking on the same day in the West Midlands, the North East, the East Midlands, the North West and Wales.

Meanwhile, around 32,000 ambulance and other health staff represented by Unison will walk out across England on March 8 after the union accused the government of failing to hold “proper talks” to resolve the row.

Nurses, blood collection workers, healthcare assistants, cleaners, porters and ambulance staff will be involved in the strike.

Health workers at NHS Blood and Transplant, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the Bridgewater Community Trust will be among those walking out for the first time.

They will be joined by ambulance staff at four services in England – South Central, East of England, West Midlands and East Midlands, also now able to take action following a strike vote last week.

GMB and Unite ambulance workers will strike again on March 20.

Junior doctors (England)

Junior doctors recently announced that they will strike for 72 hours from March 13 to March 15 over pay.

The British Medical Association (BMA) said that junior doctors had seen a real terms pay decline of more than 26% over the past 15 years.

Dentists who work in hospitals employed under the junior contract will also join the 72-hour walkout.

Civil Servants (England)

Approximately 100,000 civil servants across 123 government departments and agencies are expected to strike on March 15 — the day of Jeremy Hunt’s Budget.

More than 1,600 members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) employed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency are also set to take rolling days of industrial action from March 6 to 28.

Rail workers (England, Wales and Scotland)

RMT members will strike across the railways on March 16, 18, 30.

London Underground drivers

Commuters will endure chaos on Budget day, March 15, when London Underground drivers at Aslef go on strike.

University lecturers (UK)

Strikes by lecturers will hit 150 UK universities throughout March after the University and College Unions demanded “substantially improved offers” in the disputes over pay, working conditions and pension cuts.

In total, 70,000 UCU members will walk out on March 16, 17, 20, 21 and 22.

Jennifer Coolidge Is Open To Seeing This Fan Favourite Join The White Lotus

Jennifer Coolidge seems to have her eyes on a fan favourite Twitter users are begging to join the next season of The White Lotus.

After winning her first SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at Sunday night’s ceremony, Jennifer spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the highly anticipated season three of the hit series.

Jennifer starred as the lovably loony Tanya McQuoid-Hunt in the first two seasons of The White Lotus. She recently scored her first Golden Globe and her first Emmy for her role in the series, which has led to a massive career resurgence for the actor.

At the end of season two, many viewers were shocked and upset after Jennifer’s character narrowly escaped death, only to die a silly accidental death later.

After Tanya was killed off, fans quickly flooded Twitter with some pretty noteworthy plot ideas for how to resurrect her in the show’s upcoming season.

While Coolidge was speaking with ET’s Denny Directo alongside her co-star, Jon Gries (who plays Greg Hunt), Gries tossed out the idea that “Jennifer play Jennifer’s sister.”

However, Jennifer rapidly turned down the idea. “I don’t think Mike’s going to allow that,” she said, referring to the show’s creator, Mike White.

When ET told Jennifer about Twitter’s viral campaign to get Pamela Anderson on the show, she seemed to enjoy the idea of the Baywatch icon joining the cast as Tanya’s sister.

“I just recently saw Pam’s documentary and I called 100 people to watch it. And I swear to God, we all had the same reaction. It’s amazing,” Jennifer said, gushing about Anderson’s recent Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story. “You finally get the real story, and she’s got this huge comeback.”

Though plot details are still under wraps for the forthcoming season of The White Lotus, Pamela reacted to mounting fan requests to see her cast on the series during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show earlier this month.

Sharing that she’s “up for anything,” the star cautiously added, “I think that would be an incredible challenge, but like I said, I’m not an ambitious person. I just like to go with the flow.”

Pamela continued, “So, I don’t really know what’s next, but I know I haven’t really had the opportunity to see what I’m capable of on film yet.”

In the Unpacking S2 E7 clip at the end of the White Lotuss season two finale, White hinted that season three could take place in Asia and focus on “death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”

“The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” Mike White said. “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
