Demi Moore Doesn’t Exactly Sound Thrilled About Channing Tatum’s Ghost Remake Plans

Demi Moore has spoken out about the possibility of one of her signature movies getting a remake.

Back in 1991, Demi earned her first Golden Globe nomination after appearing opposite Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg in the romantic drama Ghost.

Last year, Channing Tatum revealed his production company had already bought the rights to Ghost with the intention of remaking it and doing “something different” with the classic film.

“I think it needs to change a little bit,” he claimed to Vanity Fair.

However, this isn’t a concept Demi seems entirely sold on.

“There are some films better left alone,” she told Variety, quickly noting that “ it depends on what the take is”.

She continued: “The success of Ghost is really about alchemy. Think about Whoopi, who anchored the comedy in a magical way. Or Tony Goldwyn, the boy next door who is the most unsuspecting villain. And the sweetness and virility of Patrick Swayze.”

“Channing is incredibly intelligent and talented — who knows what he would bring to it if it happened,” she added.

Asked if she’d reprise her role from the original, Demi said: “I’d have to see what they come up with.”

Demi – who is currently on the promo trail for her graphic new body horror The Substance – made similar remarks when asked about Channing’s plans back in May.

“Every story, in some ways, has already been told. The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted,” the Indecent Proposal star told Entertainment Weekly.

“I think there are some films that often are better left not touched, and left, and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.”

Asked by Variety why she thinks Ghost has endured after more than 30 years, she offered: “There’s something comforting about the movie. It’s about the things we might perceive as lost never really leaving us.”

Robert De Niro Pulls No Punches As He Tears Into ‘Clown’ Donald Trump

Robert De Niro, one of Donald Trump’s most vocal Hollywood critics, has once again spoken out against the former president.

During the latest instalment of Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace?, the two-time Oscar winner was asked about Trump’s current presidential bid, ahead of the US election later this year.

“Do you really worry that if he were to win again… that he would not give up power?” the host asked, to which De Niro responded: “You know he won’t. He even said it. He’s never going to give it up. And anybody who deludes themselves into thinking that he is, shame on you.”

As the conversation progressed, the Godfather star was asked if his and Trump’s paths ever crossed in the 70s and 80s, when they were both running in certain New York circles.

“No. I never wanted anything to do with him,” he insisted. “He’s a jerk, an idiot, who wants to meet a clown like that?”

He continued: “You’ve got to help everybody. People are going to get overlooked. That happens, but at least you have somebody who’s sensitive to the condition of the country, the people. And I’m not saying this like this, because it’s Kamala Harris, but it is. We need someone like her to do it.

“She’ll make mistakes. Of course, everybody does, but we need somebody with the right intentions. This guy has does not have the right intentions, and everybody knows that. It’s insanity. Period.”

Earlier this year, De Niro made headlines when he branded Trump “crazy” and accused him of wanting to “destroy” the United States.

Prior to that, he made an appearance outside the courthouse where Trump was facing trial – and later found guilty on all charges of falsifying business documents to cover up an alleged affair with pornographic film performer Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election – and called the former US leader a “monster” and a “tyrant”.

True to form, Trump wasted no time in firing back at the veteran star on his own social media site Truth Social.

People Living In Cities Are At A Higher Risk Of Dementia Thanks To This

According to the journal Frontiers In Neuroscience, around 80% of the world’s population is exposed to excessive or inappropriate use of artificial light outdoors, dubbed “light pollution”.

While the health risks of excessive light pollution can include sleep deprivation, fatigue, headaches, stress and anxiety, new research published in the journal has revealed that it could actually lead to Alzheimer’s Disease.

In the study, researchers used satellite-acquired data to determine nighttime light intensity in states, and compared that data with Alzheimer’s Disease prevalence in the same places, finding that a positive correlation was found in areas with the most light pollution in every year studied.

The study also indicated that nighttime light pollution had a stronger correlation to Alzheimer’s Disease risk than alcohol abuse, chronic kidney disease, depression, heart failure and obesity, but less of a link to the conditions of atrial fibrillation, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension and stroke.

This was especially true for those under the age of 65.

Robin Voigt-Zuwala, PhD, lead investigator for the study said: “Certain genes can influence early-onset Alzheimer’s, and these same genes may cause increased vulnerability to the effects of nighttime light exposure.

“Additionally, younger people are more likely to live in urban areas and have lifestyles that may increase exposure to light at night.”

How to protect your health against light pollution

The experts at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recommend the following for individuals and communities to protect against light pollution:

  • Need: Use light only where needed. Consider how the use of light will impact the area, including wildlife interactions and habitats. Rather than permanent lights, use reflective paint or self-luminous markers for signs, curbs, and steps. Outdoor lighting should not be used for aesthetic purposes.
  • Brightness: Use the least amount of light needed for the activity taking place. Be aware of surface conditions as some surfaces reflect a lot of light into the sky.
  • Colour: Minimise blue and violet spectral components, i.e. use warm-white, yellow, or amber light. This aids night vision by all animals, including people.
  • Shielding: Use shielding so that light does not spill beyond where it is needed. To reduce skyglow, do not use luminaires that project any light above the horizontal. Reduce glare by restricting beams to downward cones. This improves the ability of drivers and pedestrians to see into shadows.
  • Timing: Use light only when needed. Turn lights off after use, or use active controls such as timers and motion detectors so that lights are on only when needed.
  • Encourage neighbours to reduce their light pollution by observing these principles, especially to reduce glare and light trespass into your domain.

Joe Biden Was Photographed Wearing A ‘Trump 2024’ Hat. Here’s Why.

The president briefly placed a red “Trump 2024” cap over his own hat while greeting firefighters in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, during commemorations of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Right-wingers predictably freaked out on social media over the image.

Some suggested it was proof that Biden was experiencing cognitive decline while others touted the laughable claim that it showed he’d switched to supporting Trump over his own vice president, Kamala Harris, whom he endorsed after abandoning his reelection campaign.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates set the record straight on X, formerly Twitter. Bates wrote, “At the Shanksville Fire Station, @POTUS spoke about the country’s bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that.”

“As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap. He briefly wore it,” he added.

Police And Crime Minister Robbed While Attending Police Conference

The police and crime minister was robbed while attending a police conference, it has been revealed.

In a major embarrassment, Dame Diana Johnson’s purse was stolen after she warned of an “epidemic of antisocial behaviour, theft and shoplifting”.

She had been speaking at the annual conference of the Police Superintendents Association at a hotel near Kenilworth in the Midlands.

In a post on X, she said it had been a “pleasure” to be there.

She said: “We have a mission to tackle serious crime, antisocial behaviour and restore neighbourhood policing. What I’ve seen in my short time in this role has given me renewed confidence that we’ll succeed.”

The Home Office confirmed that the minister had items belonging to her stolen while at the conference.

In a statement, Warwickshire Police said: “We’re investigating a report of the theft of a purse at a hotel on the B4115 in Kenilworth.

“A 56-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.”

Tory Frontbencher’s Attempt To Take Down Labour Over Pensioners’ Winter Turned Into Brutal Own Goal

Tory frontbencher Helen Whately accidentally attacked the Conservatives’ legacy rather than Labour’s latest policy during an TV appearance today.

Whately, currently the shadow transport secretary, attempted to take down the new government’s plan to restrict winter fuel allowance to just those on pension credit.

The controversial move means 10 million pensioners will no longer receive a payment of up to £300 to help cover their energy bills – and the Tories have repeatedly criticised Labour for it.

Whately tried to follow suit on Wednesday by saying how cold her own constituents are during the winter – even though Labour have only been in power since July.

The MP made the slip-up on BBC Politics Live, when presenter Jo Coburn seemed to unsettle Whately by asking her about the 2017 Conservative manifesto.

The Tory pledges at the time said winter fuel payments would be means-tested, and focused on the least well-off pensioners who are most at risk of fuel poverty, although the Conservatives eventually dropped the plan.

Coburn said: “It’s a little rich coming from Conservatives to say that this is the worst thing that has ever been done politically – to take the winter fuel payment away from better off pensioners.”

Whately, who was a minister in both Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson’s governments, seemed flustered by the remark, and tried to deflect by saying Labour had taken the means-testing to a very low level.

She then said: “There are 18,000 pensioners in my constituency who are losing their winter fuel allowance.

“Some of them have written to me, including one pensioner who only heats one room of their house through the winter and sleeps on their sofa because that’s in the one room that they heat in the winter.

“That pensioner is losing their winter fuel allowance.

“This is what this government is choosing to do, and to be clear it’s a choice.”

But Labour were only elected in July, after 14 years in opposition, and have not led the country through a winter yet.

Whately’s slip-up did not go unnoticed on X, of course, with many eagle-eyed viewers saying her anecdote revealed “more about life under 14 years of the Tories than it does under Labour”.

Her comments drew so much interest on the social media platform that her name even started trending.
